I agree that weighing once a week and keeping up with the accountability thread is a good thing!

Right now my life is a bit jumbled as we are trying to time things with movers, dental appointments and I have a client that wants me to alter as many of her clothes as possible before I leave!

But being able to come on here is something that doesn't change in the midst of the topsy-turvy!

Our plans seem to change from minute to minute some days!

I'll keep watching to see what is up!

I'm up for anything. My daughter just challenged me to a 30 day challenge. It's a strength training one...squats, crunches, and the plank.
I do like the idea of a veggie/fruit one. I drink a lot of water so that isn't a challenge to me. I like the idea of weighing in once a week and keeping up with the accountability thread.

That's good news to come out of the woes of teeth issues!

What did we say we wanted to do for a summer challenge? Oh! I just had a good idea. On another team, we have 3 challenges going right now - a cardio one, a fruits and veggies or calories or water one, and a strength training one. What if we have a choice to do one, or two, or three of them, and then weigh in every week. It will be like a challenge and daily accountability all in one?

Hmmm...thinking, thinking ...

I'll post something later.

On another note, it seems that having to be careful what I eat because of my teeth has helped me get back down to 182! woohoo!!

Sorry everyone! I am very frustrated as I have now stopped getting emails from sparkpeople. I still would like to get them, but they are not being sent. I think it is my email/internet provider that is blocking them. It is driving me crazy. I have to contact them tomorrow to sort it all out.

Once that is done, I can work on setting this up - UNLESS - you guys would like to do this one. I would not mind if you do, in fact, I would LOVE it. Chat amongst yourselves on sparkmail or something, and if you wish, see if you can come up with a challenge for us. I already like the possible names!

Oh my!! I forgot again! Sorry, I had some dental work done and my brain just went all fuzzy! I WILL weigh tomorrow as soon as I get up and post immediately!!

I have been doing okay this week, and lost about 3 lbs. However, I am not much ahead of where I was when we began this challenge unfortunately. I will strive to continue my good streak though!

Sounds great to me. I think this will great way to help me out. When I got up this morning and stepped on the scale only to see another gain I was so disgusted with myself. Bathing suit season is just around the corner...not to mention I tired of when I sub in kindergarten the little ones asking me if I'm having a baby.

CJ maybe we should make a "goal for the day" thread. Set your goal then later in the day let the team know whether you accomplished it or not....good way to hold ourselves accountable. Probably a good idea to make it a "sticky" topic.

Got up this morning and weighed myself. I'm up another pound..so tired of this I need to get off my butt. I talked to hubby about it and said I'm setting a goal everyday. He said that's good idea and you can't read (I'm always reading) until you complete that goal.

So today my goal was (I already did it) to get on my elliptical for at least 10 minutes. I did it...baby steps is all it takes.

Sounds like it's been a rough couple of weeks for all of us.

For me there is really no excuse. I've been home on spring break and done nothing but eat and sit on my butt. Last night I did nothing but eat...and I wasn't even hungry. I really need to get back on track.

So, after 3 weeks, we are struggling.
Laura, Jane, and Julia are all maintaining.

Sara gained a little this week.

I lost a bit this past week, but I have no idea how. I didn't exercise very much at all - it was probably muscle loss!

Let's kick it all into high gear, ladies!

Week 2- ??? I was sick all last week and didn't do anything...that includes weighing myself.

179. I know this is up from when Shaneman got home, but my mom calls them 'happy pounds' so ok, now I got happy, I gained a few pounds and now I can lose them again!! emoticon

For my extra challenge, I did well on my daily journal writing, but am having a little trouble getting back into the habit of tracking my food and exercise for the day!

I will get it though! emoticon

Week 1 - 189.8 lbs - up 0.4 lbs
Week 2 - 190.2 lbs - up 0.4 lbs - I was up to 193.4 lbs this week, though, so I am going in the right direction, even though it doesn't look it, lol.
Week 3 - 188.6 lbs - down 1.6 lbs!!
Week 4 - 187.8 lbs - down 0.8 lbs!
Week 5 - I don't want to say. It's awful! up a great deal. *sigh*

Hey Everyone! Thanks for the new challenge! Hubby and I just got back off leave. We went to Texas (he is from there) and had a wonderful time! We were very careful about how we ate. (Hubby is very health conscious because he is in the Navy) He exercised, unfortunately I did not. I didn't have a way to weigh, so I will just jump in right here. I knew I gained some weight while on leave, I tend to do that a little every time he comes home from a deployment. Hopefully this was the last one for a few years! Anyway, great to see how all of you are doing!

My start weight as of March 4th is 179.
Extra Challenge: Track Calories Eaten, Track Calories Burned and Write in a Journal!

I haven't tracked yet this month (thank goodness we are only a little way into the month!), but will start tomorrow!!!

Starting weight: 189.4 lbs
Week 1 - 189.8 lbs - up 0.4 lbs
Week 2 - 190.2 lbs - up 0.4 lbs - I was up to 193.4 lbs this week, though, so I am going in the right direction, even though it doesn't look it, lol.

Doing pretty good so far. I'm staying positive and giving myself personal pep talks daily. Had a crazy weekend with my grandson being born so the two veggies a day wasn't easy yesterday. But I'm back on track today. Little worried about my weigh in tomorrow but we will see how it goes.

Week 1: March 4: - 145
Week 2: March 11: - 145 My DS has been keeping me in upbeat music; and our snowstorm last week got me outside shoveling. The past few days have been warm and rainy, so most of the snow is gone and we are indoors.
Week 3: March 18: - 145 still. Seem to be spinning my wheels here. emoticon
Week 4: March 25: - 145. It's spring break here, which means we have snow flurries in the Chicago area. emoticon
Week 5: April 1: - 145.5 April Fool's for me.
Week 6: April 8: - 144.5
Week 7: April 15: - 145
Week 8: April 22: - 145

Time for a new challenge!

This Wednesday will be exactly 9 weeks until May 1. This Spring into Spring Challenge will run from this coming Wednesday February 27 until May 1.

It is a straight weight loss challenge, with an added challenge.
Pick one (or more if you wish) of the challenges below. Choose from the Nutrition, Exercise, or Motivation options. Feel free to pick one from each if you want. I would caution against picking too many, though, as that can get overwhelming and lead to frustration. It is often better to start small, and do something consistently to make it a good habit.

THE OPTIONS:
NUTRITION:
Eat a high fiber/high protein breakfast
Eat 2 fruits or veggies
Eat 4 servings of complex carbs
Donít drink soda
Donít eat in front of the TV
Pack your lunch
Drink 8 8oz cups of water
Track calories eaten
Eat some sort of fresh produce

FITNESS:
Work in the yard
Get 10 minutes of cardio exercise
Get 8 hours of sleep
Do something active outdoors
Stretch for 10 minutes
Go for a walk
Track calories burned
Use 1 piece of fitness equipment
Use a stress/squeeze ball
Do 15 minutes of exercise while watching TV

MOTIVATION:
Tell 1 person about your goals
Write in a journal
Collect another motivational picture
Post a message on the boards
Read from a motivating story or book
Reward yourself
Read an inspirational quote
Talk to a positive friend or family member
Give yourself a 5-minute mental pep talk
Listen to a get-up-and-go song every day


To take part, post your starting weight, and your intention for the extra challenge.
Then, every week after the 27th, post your current weight - this could be from whenever you weigh in, not necessarily on Wednesdays.

In other words, I might post whatever I weigh on Wednesdays, or take my "official" weigh in on Sunday as that week's weight. It's up to you.

Sample post:

Starting Weight: 195 lbs
Extra challenge - will track food daily
Week 1 - 194.5 lbs - down 0.5 lbs!
