I started this month better than I'm ending it. I'm running out of gas! Fortunately, I continued to workout all month, however, I'm just doing the minimum 30 minutes/day this week. I'm really tired. I'm trying to reign in my food intake after an extended visit with out-of-town relatives. They left yesterday. Whew! emoticon emoticon emoticon

I have stayed steady doing my cardio at least 4 times per week, gotten in at least 8 glasses of water and stayed close to the calorie range at least 5 days. I am starting to feel better but my asthma is beginning to act up on me but feeling strong.

Thanks, Cherly!

Last part of our April healthy challenge. It is sleep this week. Post your personal challenge for yourself!

Mine is to get more than 6 hours of sleep each night. I have been getting only 5-6 hours a night. I won't say 8 hours for sure, because then I get anxious and can't fall asleep right away. So I will say only, 'more than 6'.

Thanks, Jane. It is on Father's Day at the Manitoba Marathon. Although, when I registered I realized that it is not a full 5K, it is only 4.16 or something close to that.

I have done the strength training workouts I listed below. I have done a cardio workout every day but Friday (rest day). I logged my food for three days, and then stopped. I must start that up again later.

I also bought new running shoes and got my new exercise schedule worked out for the coming weeks as I train for my first 5K!

I do some strength training in the walk routines I do but I added some with the bands yesterday. I also have tried to up myself to 3 miles at least two days per week and 30 for the other two as well. I am staying on course with the water and calories I have increased them some to go with the workouts I have been doing because it told me to up my calorie intake. I don't always get 5 fruits and veggies everyday but I usually end up with 3 for sure.

Today, I did "The Firm: 500 calorie workout." I did all strength moves (some modified) and did two arm routines at 10#, not 8#. Will report back later re: other goals.

You did very well, Cherly! Good for you! I tracked every day, but was only within calorie range two days, I think. However, as I have not tracked for a while, this was progress!

For those of you joining us for the strength training, remdember to pick something that is a challenge for you. I work out with weights 3 times a week already. I was going to push myself to do higher weights, or more reps this week. However, my big challenge team is doing an intensive strength training challenge so I am following that instead.

A challenge for you might not be as ambitious, though. If you have never done strength training, just picking an exercise or two and doing them twice or three times this week will be a great challenge for you. If you are doing well at wall push-ups, maybe it's time to switch to modified ones. OR, perhaps you are tired of regular crunches, and want to try reverse ones. It's up to you!

Well this week I stayed pretty close to the calorie count and got in 17 miles of walk dvd's. I also got in all my water for the week as well and got close to the 5 fruits and veggies everyday. There were a few days I didn't get my 5 though.
For me CJ, I do the Walk Away the Pounds with the extra strength training with the bands in them so I haven't been doing any extra but I can for a challenge. I also have gotten back to using the walk belt too and that's really strengthening my back up. It has really given me problems since getting the epidural with Sarah and the others kids as well. I hope to build it where it doesn't hurt like it is now.

Okay team - time to change it up! New goals time!

Think of a challenge for YOU to do with nutrition, and post it here. Then, throughout the week, post your progress. Remember, this can be anything to do with nutrition that you do not consistently do now, that you would like to work on.

For example, perhaps you want to start eating breakfast daily, eat within your calorie range, have more whole grain foods, meet your protein goals every day, etc.

Feel free to continue your goals from this past week if you wish to give yourself an added challenge!

Let's go, Team!

I've been drinking close to a liter of water each day and doing at least 30 minutes of cardio but yesterday I pulled muslces in my groin and left hip. Last night I could not walk or even lift my leg and today it is slightly worse. Needless to say, there goes cardio for a few days probably. But I will continue to drink lots of water.

I am terrible about drinking water so my goal is to drink at least 6 glasses of water each day and will increase my cardio to at least 30 minutes every day rather than 20-30 minutes 5 days per week.

Goal 4 glasses of water every day (I don't drink water so this is big for me).

Also trying for at least 15 minutes of some sort of exercise daily. I'm starting a workout from glamour that the exercises are every other day so we will see how that works and I am going to try for some type of exercise in between

Good question! As often as you like. I will try for daily, but may miss a day here or there. I will therefore keep track on my fridge and post when I can.

I will drink at least 8 glasses of water a day.

For cardio I will do at least 15-30 minutes every day.

Now that I am working I have taken to drinking more soda so my goal is to drink my 8 glasses of water a day this week. I am also working nights and tend to not exercise at all, so I will make a goal to do 3 sessions of cardio for this week

So, we're running a continuous weigh-in/measurements challenge for spring until the last wife or husband is standing. To help us in this goal, I figured we needed a firm yet gentle kick in the bum.

To this end, we will be having an April challenge.

This month - I will break down the month into 4 weeks.

Week 1 - April 5 - 10
Week 2 - April 11 - 17
Week 3 - April 18 - 24
Week 4 - April 25 - 30

For each week, I have chosen an area for us to work on.

Week 1 = cardio and water
Week 2 = nutrition
Week 3 = strength training
Week 4 = sleep

For each week, we are going to pick a goal that is personal to us and post it for all to see (have to make ourselves accountable, right?). We will then keep track of our progress that week and on the weekend, post our results for our challenge. If we do well, we get to give ourselves a goodie or a trophy through SP. If not, we can give each other a little
emoticon
to get back on track!

So, who is with me? This starts tomorrow already, so we need to think fast for our personal cardio challenge.

So, post here if you wish to join in, and put what you will attempt to do this week to challenge yourself in terms of water intake and cardio exercise.

And for those of you who are in my other team that I lead, you will think this looks familiar. Feel free to use the same or different goals for each team. It is up to you.
