Hi guys!
Please figure out your grand total and we'll see who is the grand winner for the month of July!

I didn't remember to track my fruits and veggies while I was away, so I know I will not be the winner this time.

So, how is everyone doing with their fruits and veggies?

If you are doing well, keep it up!
If not, it isn't too late to try to get more in your diet.

Take care! I'll be tracking my food on paper so I can update my post when I return form holiday!

Happy eating!

I would count it. 6 ounces is a serving of fruit juice. It is even better if it is pure fruit juice, with no sugar added, but that may be hard to find as it needs grape juice or pear juice added to remove the tartness of the cranberries.

But, yes, please include it as a serving.
Off to update my fruits and veggies for this week...

Hey CJ does drinking Cranberry Grape juice for breakfast count as a serving of fruit or not. I can't remember anymore and I have been drinking that to help daughter drink it as well for UTI's. Wasn't for sure if I should count so I didn't.

Okay Team. First Challenge in a long time. Here goes.

For the rest of July, we will have a nutrition challenge. Then, in August, we will have an exercise one.

For this month, I want us to focus on fresh produce. It is summer, so most of us have access to fresh fruits and vegetables, most of us, though don't eat enough.

So, for this challenge, I want us all to eat at least 4 servings of fruit or vegetables a day.

Here is a link to a chart with serving sizes:
www.sparkpeople.com/resource/nutriti
on
_articles.asp?id=177

Generally, a medium fruit or veggie is a serving, or one cup of salad or half a cup of veggies or fruit.

Now, for this challenge I don't mind if you have fresh, frozen or canned foods, but keep in mind that the food closest to its natural state (ie raw and fresh) is going to be better for you than any other kind (cooked, canned for instance). But for this challenge, they all count.

Point system:
10 points for each serving of 4 fruits/veggies a day
10 points for each additional serving of fruits or veggies.

Scoring example:

Monday:
banana
orange
half cup strawberries
half cup cooked cauliflower
quarter cup dried raisins

point total for Monday - 20 points

Tuesday:
2 cups salad
2 bananas
apple
pear

points - 30 points

Wednesday:
pear
carrot

points - 0 (didn't get in minimum 4)

Good luck and let's eat those fruits and veggies!
