Well, as it is almost MARCH, I figured I'd better total the JANUARY challenge! *sheesh* Life just gets pretty busy sometimes, doesn't it?

Well, we had a lot of people start out at the beginning of the month, but then fizzle out by the end. Remember, Team, a little activity every day is better than wanting to do hours every day and not doing anything!

The following members pledged a goal and either met or exceeded that goal:
MOMMEEOFMANY - goal - 930; actual - 1520
PETESWIFERACH - goal - 150/week; actual - 150 for two weeks
BABIE_JANE - goal - 1750/month; actual - 2162
BRONCO7JY - goal - 150/week; actual - 150 for one week
MEL_UNRAU - goal - 225/week; actual - 300
JENARAGON - goal - 250/week; actual - well over every week!
JCOLMBINE - exceeded goal of 30 minutes per day plus walking
HCUTIE426 - goal - 120/week; actual - 200 minutes the first week
cjbaggins - goal - 150/week; actual - average of 200 minutes /week

emoticon emoticon emoticon
emoticon

And the winners with the most minutes total are:

First place with 2349 points:
JENARAGON

Second place with 2162 points:
BABIE_JANE

Third place with 1585 points
KRACKERS66

Fourth place with 1520 points:
MOMMEEOFMANY

Fifth place with 1370 points
JCOLUMBINE(walking is a cardio exercise, so I'm counting all your minutes!)

And sixth place with 1180 points
JERSERYGIRL318

emoticon ladies!

cjbaggins' total - 872 minutes for the month

My pledge was 150 minutes per week. Some weeks I was over, some I was under, but my average was just over 200 minutes per week!

Hi everyone. I said my goal was 30min cardio/week besides walking. I think I may have meant per day, but what I have been doing is the bootcamp workouts plus cardio.

Week 1: 210 minutes (370-160 walking)
Week 2: 180 minutes

Hi everyone!
Keep it up.
Some of you have been doing very well. Others say they wish they could do better. Now is the time to get out and move! Let's get rid of that fat. Let's burn it off!

Hi Rach here
Week 1: 150+
Week 2: 150+
We have been on holiday at the lake. Normally I would sit on the sideline and watch the family swimming and kayacking. But not this time. I got in there and joined in. It was a great feeling. Not only did I get to move, but I made memories with my kids. I was not too careful with food but didwatch quantities and drank heaps of water. My real challenge will start now I am back at home. Today has not been such a good day. I did not eat until 2.30pm. ( hit the ground running ) By then, I was famished and.........well you know how it goes.

Just joined the team, but this one is "easy" for me (unless I have long hours at work).
I've already committed to walking to the train station as quickly as possible at least 3 times a week in Jan. Keeping in mind that it's cold and icy here and my only other method of transport is my motorbike (in the garage and likes to stay in ONE piece) or the bus (roulette: will it come or will it not come), I agree that's an easy one. But as I'm working late more often than not and don't "do" mornings, it can be a struggle.

Been good so far, but am noticing that the effect on my weight is gone for now. No weight loss, although I am being told repeatedly to switch off my turbo charger (i.e. at work or home). But I'll keep trying!

I logged 190 minutes this week. A little shy of my goal. Plus 4X bootcamp video (missed a few) and 1X strength/physical therapy. Will try to do better next week.

I did not get any done yesterday due to babysitting the young ones I keep and not getting much time to myself. Also not feeling as good as I should so maybe today might be better.

And I had to laugh at your question as I must be the nerdiest of them all. All the challenge Teams I'm on, I always have to ask my weekly challenge question!

Good question. Let's say January 1-7 cuz otherwise I have a big fat goose egg for the 'first week'.

My goal is 225 min/week (45 min per day X 5) which I hope I can exceed. In addition, a bootcamp video each day (about 10 min) and strength training/physical therapy exercises twice a week for at least 10 minutes.

This has been my goal for some time, but if I can get back to doing it consistently, that would be great! Thanks CJ!

I'm in too - I will be aiming for 250 minutes of intense cardio a week, in addition to strength training and yoga.

1 hour so far today, but I will post a weekly total at the end of the week.

45 minutes a day 5 days a week... so far... this week (yesterday) 300 minutes... (approx 5-6 hours of down hill skiing!)

Imperfection is important. If we were all perfect, then there would be no such thing as growth, and everyone would be extremely boring, which is, paradoxically, not that perfect.-- Dr. Matt

Okay. Minutes done it is.
As that was the only idea (with the exception of the delicious blueberries thrown at me - you know who you are!), that's what we'll go with.

Here's the challenge:

We work out. Every week. As many times per week as we wish. Pick a weekly goal, or a daily one, if you wish. See if you can meet or surpass that goal.

Winner will be determined by:
(1) meeting or exceeding our personal goal
(2) getting in the most cardio minutes

I thought this was better than a distance challenge as we all go at a different pace and some people run so they can get in way more miles than someone who is only able to walk. I thought this was more fair.

Okay. So this is what you need to do:

(1) pick a goal for each day or each week or a total for the month (optional)

(2) post your cardio minutes per day or week or month (your choice)

I will tally the totals at the end of the month.
Good luck to you all!

Let's get moving!!

Okay guys. I'm going out of town tomorrow until the 31st and I need to post this when I return.

What do you all want? Minutes of cardio? Distance 'travelled'? Set our own goals and then we win if we beat the goals we set? Or furthest wins, what?

Comments? Suggestions?
Fruit thrown at me?

Go for it!
Remember, take little things and do them consistently. Try not to do it all all at once. That can get discouraging when you can't keep up and then we backslide (speaking from massive experience here).

I need this, I need to put in some real effort for the entire year of 2009. I am tired of trying for 3 days and quitting for 3 weeks, and then repeating, it just isn't working. I am planning to be really active on sparkpeope from now on.
