CJ -- good news -- my weight is back to 211.2, a full 3 pounds less than the beginning of Dec. I'm psyched!

Aw, it's already Sunday and I have missed about 5 days of adding points to my post! But, I have been tracking on the food & fitness trackers. I gained about 1 lb over this week. Now it's time to ramp up the exercise -- Happy New Year everyone!

You can do it, KALEW12!

Keep tracking those numbers Team. Whether or not we 'pig out' over the holidays, we can still use our trackers and get in those fruits and veggies and whole grains.

My total so far is 67 (I'm doing pretty pathetically for the staying within calorie range aspect of this challenge).

Who can beat me?

Kathleen - you're off to a great start. Keep it up!

(1) USE THE TRACKERS FOR CALORIES IN AND CALORIES OUT

Okay, haven't been tracking (as will be reflected elsewhere on this page!) so don't know which day in particular I had these, but I have had them:

Thanks, guys! I thought no one had noticed it was up.
And I realized this morning as we are running for quite a few more days until the end of December, that the posts will get very unwieldy if we only used one post, so feel free to use as many as necessary to log your information.

I forgot the spouse aspect of this challenge. As before, I am listing some fun activities for you to do with your spouse. Feel free to do as many as you like, as many times as you like. No points for these, but they are hopefully a chance to deepen you relationship with your spouse - a priceless endeavour!

1. Buy your spouse a healthy item (hand held weights, exercise DVD, exercise ball, workout clothes, food scale, etc.) for Christmas (or just for fun if you don’t celebrate Christmas).
2. Look at Christmas lights together.
3. Decorate part of your home together or with the kids.
4. Write love notes/emails to each other.
5. Watch a Christmas movie or program together.
6. Make your spouse their favourite healthy snack or meal.
7. Give your spouse a back rub
8. Engage in an outdoor activity together (walk, sporting activity, snowball fight, etc.)
9. Do something around the house or yard that he or she would normally do
10. Compliment your spouse sincerely, honestly, and positively about something they do well
11. Give your spouse a gift that you made (card, knick-knack, knitted sweater, whatever)
12. Have a no TV evening and play cards, sit and talk, listen to music together instead
13. Find a book you both think you'll enjoy and take turns reading it aloud to each other
14. Pray for your spouse (or, if that is not part of your belief system - send positive thoughts of some kind to them)
15. Buy something for your spouse (has to cost less than $5.00)
16. Engage in an intimate activity with your spouse
17. Encourage your spouse in some aspect of a healthy lifestyle
18. Phone your spouse (or email) to tell them you love them
19. Buy new underclothes and model them for your spouse
20. Dance together in the livingroom
21. Give each other "me time" to do something you enjoy - take the kids to the park or a movie or offer to do the supper cleanup or laundry so he or she can spend time on a hobby or go to the gym, etc. A happy spouse is a loving, attentive spouse!
22. Look at the stars together
23. Light candles all over the room and just sit and watch the flickering light together
24. Leave little notes around the house for your spouse to find throughout the day
25. Hold hands whenever you are together today
26. Whisper sweet nothings in each other's ears
27. Spend time just kissing like you used to
28. Feed each other something sensual like ripe fruit
29. Repeat any or all activities that you enjoyed!

Okey dokey. Here it is. Better late than never, right? We can start as soon as people see the sparkmail about this new challenge (hopefully Friday).

Those who responded wanted to focus on healthy eating for this month. I am therefore including that in this challenge.

December's DeLIGHTful Challenge ('delightful' as we all hope to be a little lighter at the end of it!)

As many of us take part in celebrations and festivities at this time of year I figured we could counter any poor choices in our eating at parties and whatnot with some healthy ones.

To this end, I have chosen a few things for us to focus on this month and for which we can earn points. Hopefully, they will keep us on track, despite all the goodies and temptations out there!

(1) USE THE TRACKERS FOR CALORIES IN AND CALORIES OUT

(2) EAT FRUITS AND VEGGIES EVERY DAY

(3) EAT WHOLE GRAIN PRODUCTS EVERY DAY

(4) STAY WITHIN YOUR CALORIE RANGE

POINT SYSTEM:
(1) Using trackers - 1 point per day per tracker
(and I want you to be honest on those trackers, I want to see every Christmas cookie and glass of egg nog!) emoticon

(2) Fruits and Veggies - 1 point per full serving of fruit or vegetable.

Examples of servings:
1 cup salad greens
0.5 cup cooked veggies
0.5 cup cooked fruits (ex. stewed prunes, rhubarb)
0.75 cup fruit or veggie juice
one medium or regular piece of fruit of vegetable (ex. oen carrot or apple)

(3) Whole grains - one point per serving of whole grains

Examples:
bran, rye, whole wheat, oatmeal, popcorn, etc. See articles on SP on this topic:
www.sparkpeople.com/resource/nutriti
on
_articles.asp?id=747

(4) Calorie Range - 10 points per day you stay above the minimum points, and below the maximum

there you have it. It is entirely possible for someone to earn over 20 points per day if they are eating a healthy diet as recommended by health experts and the coaches on SP.

Please note - it is easier for me to tally at the end of the month if everyone makes one post and then continues to edit that one post each time they want to add a day. Anyone who is unsure how to do that, please ask away.

Questions? Sparkmail me or ask here.

Good luck to you all! And may the best Sparker win!
