Wow! We ate a lot of fruits and veggies this week!
What a wonderful rainbow we created!

We had 15 team members participating for part or all of the week.

Of those 15, 5 members received full marks of 175 points.

Another 5 got over 100.

4 members had between 30 and 45 fruits or veggies that week!

All in all - a huge success I would say!

Bridget - LOL! Heehee. Yep,I've heard of yellow beans. It's just with my poor glasses right now, I missed where you'd put "yellow beans" and thought it just said "beans", that's all. Then I wondered how (green) beans could be yellow. Just my eyesight again.

Yeah bananas. I know that others on my other Team when we did this were putting them, and on the links I posted, they included them on there as yellows, so let's just keep them as either and people can choose where they'd like to put them. I personally put them as white as the inside 'pulp' that I eat seems more white to me. But then again, onions (white ones) are translucent when cooked and there's no 'clear' category, so I guess there's some leeway once in a while.

No worries. I see that most who are counting bananas as yellow also have some other yellow/orange things as well, so not a big deal.

Remember that the colours are just for fruits and veggies, though, so I'm afraid the cheese and milk, while white, won't count for this one. Did you have a banana, apple, white potatoes, onions, or something else that is fruits or veggies that is white today?

Apparently it is, technically, a vegetable, so as it's green, I guess we'll count it. BUT - not the healthiest choice out there. Maybe try for some broccoli, cabbage, different types of lettuce, green peppers as well to mix it up a bit and get some more nutrients with less sodium! Challenge yourself!


Raisins? Hmmm...they are a dried fruit, so no problem there (although watch for them at bedtime as they do stick to teeth). As for colour, I say go ahead and count them as a purple as they don't really fit anywhere else(and blue/purple are often the hardest to find).

As with the pickles, though, try for variety. That's the point of the challenge, to find different colours and different ways of getting those colours!

It's time for our second weekly challenge for September!

This one is called Eat a Rainbow. I got this challenge from Zircadia as well (thanks Zircadia, you're a gem! Check out her sparkpage - she's lost over a 100 pounds and is a true inspiration!).

Anyway, the challenge runs as follows:
EAT A RAINBOW!
Fruits and Vegetables are good for us -- right? But if we're eating the same produce all the time we are probably letting ourselves DOWN nutritionally.

Each day you will get 5pts for every different color of fruit/vegetable you eat.

These are the categories we will use:

1. Yellow/Orange
2. Green
3. Blue/Purple
4. Red
5. White

So a maximum of 25 points per day, 175 for the week!

Rules:
Eat as many fruits and veggies you like, but you will only get a maximum of 25 points per day.

If you only eat the inside of a piece of fruit or veggie, you don't get to count the colour of the skin or peel. For example, if you pick a nice juicy green apple, but peel the apple before you eat it, you only get to count the white of the pulp inside. If you wash and eat the peel as well, feel free to count both colours!

Use your best judgement for what colour something is, keeping in mind that what we see as purple is often called 'blue' or 'red', for example 'red cabbage' looks pretty purple to me! And blueberries - kind of purple-y looking!

You must post what fruit or vegetable you had from which category. For example:

Monday:
Red - red apple
Blue/purple - blueberries
Yellow/orange - carrot
White - white potato
etc.
