WE had a great response to this challenge. We'll have to do it again sometime - fast break goals for the new year or something!

HI CJ: My target fiber range is 25-35 g daily. So I defined a high fiber breakfast as one that got me at least 25% of my daily requirement. That Sunday morning breakfast did not include my usual high-fiber bread. Thus, only 5 points for Sunday. Thanks for checking.

1. Collect another motivational picture.
2. Drink 8-8oz glasses of water (I used to do this consistently but have gotten totally away from it.)
Sept 1-Found a picture of a cute outfit I want and drank 9-8 oz glasses of water. 10 pts.
Sept 2-dug out a picture from my senior year of high school to motivate me
Drank 6 water so far--will have another 2 before bed (got all water in) 10 pts.
sept 3--picture was of a bottle of insulin since I do not want to be insulin dependent Drank 8 glasses of water 10 pts.
sept 4 No picture today but drank 9 glasses of water 5 pts.
sept 5 No picture, no water 5 pts
sept 6 Picture of walking, no water 5 pts

1. Get 10 mins of cardio exercise (I'm aiming for 30 at least 3x a week but want to get in at least 10 mins)
2. Give myself a 5 minute mental pep talk (I do a LOT of negative self talk..need to stop this!)

Okay I've been slack recently so I'm picking 2 goals that I used to do and that I really need to focus on doing again.
1. 10 mins of cardio every day
2. 2 or more fruits or veges every day

1/1: 10 mins walking, 0.5 plate of salad (variety of lettuce leaves, tomato, avocado)
1/2: played touch football (definately more than 10 mins), apple, banana, salad
1/3: tried a few times for a 10 minute walk but got stopped every time, 2 apples, sauerkraut
1/4: 10 minute day 1 bootcamp video, 2 carrots and 1 apple
1/5: no cardio (long story), corn, banana
1/6: 10 min skipping (yeah I've found some cardio that I can do no matter what), carrot, banana
1/7: 10 min skipping, I ate my rainbow today

Total for the week - 60 points total

Hi Mstiggerfan! Glad you could join us for this one!

We only have to pick 2 fast breaks this week, but no penalty for picking more! But, I won't give you extra points for all of them, so 40 sounds right (maximum of 10 per day if you do them, and it was 4 days so far).

Keep it up!
I still have to get in some more sleep! I really struggle with that, but that's why I chose it so I could see how little I was actually getting as a precursor to doing something about it!

Ok guys I am coming in late as usual.

My fast break goals are
8 house of sleep
2 fruits and veggies
take a walk
10 minutes of cardio

9/1 8 hours sleep, 2 fruits and veggie, got walking done, 10 minutes of cardio
9/2 8 house of sleep, 2 fruit and veggie, got walking done but through yard work, 10 minutes of cardio
9/3 8 hours sleep, 2 fruits and veggies, 10 minutes of cardio, walking done too
9/4 8 hours sleep, 2 fruits and veggies, got walking done
9/5 2 fruits & veggies, and walking done
9/6 8 hours sleep, 2 fruits & veggies, and walking done
9/7 8 hours sleep, 2 fruits & veggies, and walking

70 points so far if I figured it right CJ. I always go for a walk around my house almost daily to get away from kids fighting. Clears the head.

I am afraid that I am probably going to have to bow out of this particular competition. Unfortunately (or fortunately) I do all of the food challenges and a lot of the exercise ones already if I am able. Apparently the two that I have picked just aren't possible to do and I am not that into the motivational items, I just do what comes naturally in that area.

I am still involved in another challenge and am still working strong on my Christmas Goal!

Okay I've been slack recently so I'm picking 2 goals that I used to do and that I really need to focus on doing again.
1. 10 mins of cardio every day
2. 2 or more fruits or veges every day

1/1: 10 mins walking, 0.5 plate of salad (variety of lettuce leaves, tomato, avocado)
1/2: played touch football (definately more than 10 mins), apple, banana, salad
1/3: tried a few times for a 10 minute walk but got stopped every time, 2 apples, sauerkraut
1/4: 10 minute day 1 bootcamp video, 2 carrots and 1 apple
1/5:
1/6:
1/7:

Fast breaks I chose for this week that I don't do already:
1) Pack your lunch. I have been buying lunch at the cafeteria most days. Very fattening.
2)Go for a walk.

1/1: Labor day, not a workday, but I did eat lunch at home. Went for a 15 min walk with DH.
1/2: not a good day. I bought a hot dog for lunch at the cafeteris, and did not take the opportunity to walk. Oops -
1/3: packed a lunch, did not walk
1/4: lunch at home, 10 min walk in the rain
1/5: lunch at home, 20 min walk with DH.

I have been a complete slacker these days so this is a good challenge to get me back in the swing!!

Okay I've been slack recently so I'm picking 2 goals that I used to do and that I really need to focus on doing again.
1. 10 mins of cardio every day
2. 2 or more fruits or veges every day

1/1: had a smoothie with banana and strawberries and listened to music my friend gave me that i love :)

This is great to see so much planning for the coming challenge! Awesome guys!

SHEILA1001 - two things: remember to make your fast break goal as specific as possible for yourself. Do you want to exercise 10 minutes a day? 20? Will you walk every day? YOu get the idea, glance down at the bottom of the thread and pick one of the specific ones. Feel free to 'customize' it for you, as we're all different, but SparkPeople info tells us to make it specific as possible. Also, did you want to only do one this week? It's not a problem if you do, but if you pick two you can earn more points. It's up to you.

September, Week 1 - BACK TO BASICS challenge
(with many thanks to Zircadia for this idea - used with her permission)

Below is a list of all the fast break goals SparkPeople suggests.
Pick two of the fast break goals and stick to them everyday! They can be 2 from Nutrition, 2 from Fitness, 2 from Motivation, or 1 from two of the sections. Your choice.

Scoring:
You get 5pts per goal met per day (Max 10pts per day).
ALSO for meeting one goal all week long, a bonus of 5pts.
So if you meet BOTH goals ALL week, you can get a maximum of 80pts.

Restrictions:
Do not pick something you are already doing consistently. Pick something you are struggling with or that you’ve never done. This is a challenge, so challenge yourself to improve or start something new!

FAST BREAK GOALS:

NUTRITION:
Eat a high fiber/high protein breakfast

Track calories burned
Use 1 piece of fitness equipment
Use a stress/squeeze ball
Do 15 minutes of exercise while watching TV

MOTIVATION:
Tell 1 person about your goals
Write in a journal
Collect another motivational picture
Post a message on the boards
Read from a motivating story or book
Reward yourself
Read an inspirational quote
Talk to a positive friend or family member
Give yourself a 5-minute mental pep talk
Listen to a get-up-and-go song every day
