A big congratulations to all of you who took part in our August Strength Training Challenge!

I know that some of us stuck it out for the whole month. If you started with us but then petered out, not to worry - get right back into it this month! It takes time to make things a habit.

I am not giving first, second or third prizes for this month's challenge as we all did different things at our own paces and when we were able.

I will mention, though, that CATNAP45, BABIE_JANE, and JCEDIT89 seemed to me to be doing at least the minimum requirements for the month with over 12 sessions of strength training for the month for at lest 30 minutes at a time. Well done, ladies!

Well done, Catnap45! To improve that much with the plank is great. I, too, have trouble with the modified push ups. I always do one set of 12-15 (depending on when my arms give out) and then have to rest before I can do another set! If we keep going, though, we'll get stronger, I'm sure.

I do the spark generated strength plan with the time set for 30 mins. I had been adding extra strength videos to my workout, but the generated plan for this month was tough for me, so I just stuck to it.

Modified plank (hate it but got from 60 s to 90s)
Twist crunches
Modified push ups (tough for me)
Low mounted seated rows with bands
Forward lunges (tough for me)
Standing abduction with bands

I've completed 3 sessions per week for the month.

New program to be generated for September

I did my normal strength training routine last night.

Ladies does the extra strength training mixed in with the WATP tapes count. I use the stretchie band and I know she does the tricep kickbacks in with the walk toward the end. If they count how would you count this?

Sunday: my day to do combination PT exercises and ST.
2 kinds of crunches,
Bridges,
Squats,
Seated tricep extensions with 5 lb weight.
And 2 kinds of PT leg stretches.

I ususally ST on T/TH/Saturday. Here's my report for now:

8/1: Cardio day only
8/2: Strong Women Stay Young (SWSY); 35 minutes

I'm starting this one day late, but yesterday (Aug 1) I did an upper body workout from the swimsuit bootcamp video series. It wasn't 30 minutes though. I will have to stretch myself to do 30 min 3 times a week. Usually I have only been doing 2x/wk. But I can do it! I like to use weights, but have a stability ball and bands also.

Good timing on this challenge. My chiropractor has just given the okay for me to start strength training again after my injury so I'm READY!

My days will be (when I'm not on holiday this next week):
Monday, Thursday, and Saturday and I do about 30 minutes. These are the exercises I like:

bicep curls with dumbbells

hammer curls with dumbbells

seated tricep extensions

triceps kickbacks

crunches (regular, the twist ones hurt my back and the reverse do as well)

modified push -ups (I can do these ones now! I started with wall ones and I'm working up to regular ones!)

lying abduction (with 1 lb weights added to my ankles, and my running shoes on for added resistance)

lying adduction (with weights and shoes again)

I definitely enjoy hand held weights but I do have bands and a ball that I would like to try as well some time.

I'm in. I bought a dial-up set of weights that I love. I also use the resistance bands. I use a spark generated program (set for 30 mins, 3 days per week). I've been adding the bootcamp videos (I per session day 1 lower body, day 2 upper body and day 3 core). This month I'm just going to choose an extra video to add to each session, but keep it so the extras cover the 3 sections (I hope this makes sense).

For me it's mostly weights and body weight strength training for about an hour minimum 3 days a week. I try to shoot for 4 but sometimes can't seem to push myself.

July is almost gone and time for August to come in. If your like me I am trying to get ready for the kids to start back to school and running around getting all the school supplies. For this month I propose us to do 3 or more days per week of strengh training of at least 30 minutes or longer. Please post as often as you like and please include the type of strengh training you enjoy whether it be with weights or stretchie bands. Good luck team!!
