I'm a really big "Pay-it-Forward" person ... so I blog and write books and have a Motivational Facebook page and I smile

. I think that smiling is one of the easiest ways of sharing joy and of brightening another person's day. With that in mind ... I hope you enjoy my "Monday Motivation From the Heart"

“We cannot live only for ourselves. A thousand fibers connect us with our fellow men; and along these fibers, as sympathetic threads, our actions run as causes, and they come back to us as effects.” … Henry Melville
Life’s a real push me-pull me adventure. Each of us has such a huge impact on the people around us and they … in return … affect us as well. The world around the water cooler is a lovely microcosmic illustration of how quickly the most simple of comments and actions can escalate into outright negative effects and repercussions. It’s the old you get me … so I get you … and then you get me … and then … well you get the picture.
I may never know all of the effects that come cascading off of my actions. Take smiling for example … Smiling is a way of life for me … and likewise sharing said smiles with all and sundry around me is also my norm. I like it that way. Usually … but not always … people smile back. Sometimes it takes them a little while to let the smile filter through their defenses … but in general Ms Perky and I have a pretty high success rate in the “share-a-smile-with-a-stranger-today” program. We don’t know exactly how that will affect everyone else’s day but we like to imagine that the good feelings will spread like the smell of a yummy barbeque on a breezy summer day.
Here we all are living on this tiny little planet … whizzing around our hot ball of fire at a phenomenal speed … and whilst it may seem like we’re simply a bunch of disconnected individuals each doing our thing down here … like Henry Melville … I believe that we’re all connected to each other. Sometimes that looks like the outpouring of support and caring that comes after a big tragedy and sometimes it looks like Tim Horton’s supporting a community baseball team. Sometimes caring about our “fellow man (or woman)” looks like contributing to a “cause” and other times it’s simply sitting and listening to someone. In the end I think that it doesn’t matter how big or small my actions are … it’s whether or not I actually make them. So … Ms Perky, Miss Sunshine and I plan on continuing our campaign of community-sharing-of-smiles and we trust that Life will continue to provide that extra little boost of yum.
Godspeed and Joyful Journeying Everyone
