They work great....just get the slightly smaller one. You want to be able to put your toes and hands on the floor at the same time with just a little arch to your back. Too much arch and you'll be spending more time controlling the ball than anything, and not enough means you'll just be elevated, not actually working. They have a diagram on the box though, so you don't have to guess. :)

I am beautiful.

I too have a few Pilate's DVD's. I have the starter kit for Pilates which included the Inflatable ball and stretch band with the DVD, and I have the Pilates with the Fitness Ring. I like both of them, and use them often. My Fitness Ring 20min training DVD doesn't work anymore. But I still remember the stretches, and some of the exercises that were on the DVD so I incorporate them after I'm finished working with the Starter Kit. I also purchased a set of 3lb dumbbells and do the strength training exercises using the ball and dumbbells that are listed under strength training in your fitness page. Pilates at first does seem like your not really doing anything, but you really do see some improvements, so my suggestion is to go buy it and if you already have it, stick with it. You tone and tighten your body, and I just like them in general. And if you have a fitness ball, and dumbbells, try out the stuff in strength training under your fitness tab. I Love it. =)
Definitely 3 things worth purchasing.

I have 8 Winsor tapes. Her original set and the "Power Sculpting" ones with the resitance band.

I think they are worth the cost. Once you learn the basic moves, you might get bored with just 1 DVD. I also use other DVDs, and rotate them to keep interested.

I think pilates work the best when you are consistent. It's like yoga that way.

I love pilates too! I have a DVD by Denise Austin titled Mind,Body,Soul. It incorporates, stading pilates, yoga and dance moves. It is my absolute favorite! As far as the ball, I stand 4'10 and I have no problems using it, but it did take some practice. I am a huge Denise Austin fan and the DVD for Core workout with light weights and the stablizer ball is excellent. I use "Core" M-W-F and "Mind,Body,Soul" Tue.-Thur.-Sat.

I love pilates! I have a Pilates for Dummies DVD that I use and it's almost worn out! I am actually looking for another DVD to use, but am also toying with the possibility of something that goes along with one of those exercise balls.

Do the exercise balls work for short people? (I'm 5'1 and I don't know how akward that would be...)

I have been tossing around doing Yoga or Pilates. I think Pilates might be the correct choice for me. Has anyone used Coach Nicole's video and how does it compare to the ones you are talking about, such as the Windsor etc?

I took my firsst pilates class yesterday. It was a pleasant experience and today I have sore stomach muscles. It's tougher than aerobic because you have to get the form and breathing just right.

I love pilates! The ladies and I do it during our lunch break 3 days a week, the other two days are aerobics. Sometimes we mix in some yoga too.

I love using Crunch's Burn and Firm Pilates. It is high paced and uses hand weights so that it is more like a boot camp.

Oh, I adore Pilates. Do it twice a week at the moment and love every minute of it. Started with Lynne Robinson's DVD to learn the technique. She is a founder of Pilates in the UK and her DVDs are very good if you are new to it. However, as you progress, her workouts become a bit boring. :)

Now I use several dvds, depending on how I feel. I've got Crunch Pick Your Spot Pilates, that's my favourite. Also got Body Sculpt Pilates, but don't use it often as it takes about an hour and combines strength training, a bit of cardio and Pilates. V. good dvd for those who do not do much strength training, but as I've got other things this dvd is sitting on a shelf for now. emoticon

Hi! I'm also a pilates lover. You can find some free videos, which I think are very good:
- On youtube, search for Lazic (usersname)
- You can also subscribe to a videopodcast from "pilates on the fifth"
- and, of course, the videos from coach Nicole :)

Like this, you can get lots of variation in your exercises for free!

My husband bought me the DVD for my birthday this year and I LOVE it! My DVD has 5 10 minute workouts. Right now I am doing the buns and thighs, waist slimmer, and slim and sleek stretch. I do them every morning after my walk and I feel awesome after I am finished! I would recommend it to anyone!

I also use Windsor Pilates...the ones that I have is the Bun and Thigh, Basic, and the Advanced - I usually do the Bun and Thigh one a couple of times a week if possible. I LOVE THEM!!! I really want to get the Ab one as well and I saw that there are upper body and lower body ones I think...I think the instructor is awesome and I have for sure seen a difference in my buns and thighs...they are more toned and strong and my butt has gotten A LOT smaller...I love the Windsor Pilates!!

I could be mistaken, I can be sort of slow on the uptake, but I sort of get the impression that Constance enjoys the Windsor Pilates. LOL - You guys have convinced me to try them again, though. I will probably also try to get a Windsor DVD, I don't know which mine is, but I don't think it it that one.

OMG!!! I love love love... did I say love? Oh yes! I love Winsor Pilate's! I do them every other day. I have the entire collection, the band, the circle and it has done wonders for my flexibility, core strength, and toned all my muscles. It is a way to use your body weight to strengthen your body! I can not say enough about the positive benefits of the routines, simple, safe and you will see results in a short time. You have to focus on the muscles you are working, not what you have to do the rest of the day!!!

My mom bought the Windsor DVDs a while ago and I've been lugging them around with me as I moved back and forth from home and school so they never got much use. I started doing the basic tape this week to get myself acclimated and WOW! I love it and I'm absolutely feeling it in my core. I love that feeling. Definitely worth the money!

I definitely loved the DVD's, I ended up lending out my original one and it never found it's way home again, so I bought more on Amazon.com and got some other ones that I really like as well. They allow me to focus on butt or abs. I have an hour long one that's my fave (these are all the Windsor ones, btw) because you rarely do a move more than 8-10 times and she moves you to something else, some are only 3 times! I thought, at first, that there was no way it could make a change, but then I sat there 6 weeks later, 18 pounds lighter. I love them!

hmm I felt the pilaties after doing it a couple of times. The important thing with it is to do the breathing and keep the proper form. I felt it most in my abs. While I was doing it the first time it didn't seem like much, but I did feel it the next morning. Well it might be that I just have a really weak core which is why I picked it up in the first place.

i don't think it's considered either cardio or strength, according to Sparkpeople. However, I always accounted for it in cardio. oh well.

i also wanted to say that when I did it, it never really felt like it was doing much. But after a few weeks, I could feel my posture improving - standing and sitting straighter, holding my abs in. then things just started getting looser. So, keep with it even though you feel like it isn't doing anything. Before you know it, it will have done something :)

Hi all (and hi Jakelover! I finished my course!)

Jakelover, I think what you said has got me thinking that it might be worthwhile (buying them)... the others have inspired me that I think I need to get it started. I have always been interested in Pilates but have not taken it all that seriously. I have some dvd's... my mum bought me my first dvd on Pilates but I still have not connected my dvd player to the new tv (I had to get a new tv when I bought the dvd player/recorder because I have an old school tv).

Anyways, even though the seasons are in opposites here (autumn/winter) it doesn't mean I cannot get the headstart I need for spring/summer!

I will get around to connecting the new tv and dvd up and get started on the first dvd... my Pilates dvd my mum bought for my birthday a few years ago!

(and I need to get back to the gym now!)

Thanks everyone! Just reading things get me thinking again... I think I had 'overthunk' everything! I needed a break and now I can start thinking and maybe even doing again!

I am tired... did any of that make sense?

Take care!

You ladies are beginning to make me wonder if the pilates dvd I got just wasn't very good or something.

Is pilates considered cardio or strength?

I got the winsor pilates dvd, with the circle. when i was doing it, i really really noticed a difference! Totally thinned out and toned up! But i'm horrible at consistency and stopped just when I started seeing major results. Can't seem to get myself back in. Maybe this whole thread will give me my push! haha.
in summary, go for it. i love mine when i'm doing it!

RE-Invent -
Good to see you back on the board. I think about you often.
I have the Windsor Pilates and like it. I probably do purchase a new dvd or start some thing new once a month. I like to keep things fresh.
My newest purchase has been the Wii. I am loving the boxing right now and waiting for the Wii fit to come out.
For Dvd's I have a few pilates, My favorite is everyday pilates which is a book that comes with a dvd.
I have Denise Austin one that I hate!
I have a weight training one (which I don't use anymore - it was very basic to get me started.)
I also have few 10 minute solutions which I really like.

Hey all!

Long time, no comment from me in this team for a while! Hope you're all well...

I have seen the infomercials here in Australia for Winsor Pilates and have kind of toyed with the idea of ordering them. Has anyone continued with the new dvd's each month or so? How many have you had and have you found that the variety is really necessary to maintain, I guess, interest?

Was the cost worth it?

Take care!

I love the Windsor Pilates DVD's!! I have several different ones now, but the first time I used them, I lost 18 pounds in 6 weeks. And that was the only thing I was doing. Pilates 3-4 times a week. I have some other ones, but love the Windsor ones the most.

I have a couple of pilates dvd's and love them. They are very challlenging. I am interested in taking a class however. I just get concerned about making sure that I have the correct form.
I try to incorporate it into my workouts once a week.
