Try to stick with a list, but will stray if there are some good deals. When it comes to snacks I have to have a conversation with myself. Sometimes good sense prevails, but other times not so much.

I also like to shop on the day's there are double coupons.

When at the grocery store...


I buy what’s on my list, never shop when hungry, and leave with bags full of ingredients for healthy, balanced meals.

I look at the whole-grain bread and broccoli but haven't yet taken the plunge.

I make decisions based solely on price or flavor.

I know I should choose foods that are healthy, but I'm not sure which foods are good so I wind up buying the same old stuff.

According to Spark, these are the correct answers. A goodie is coming to all that participated!

Which has more fiber:

An avocado or a cup of whole wheat pasta? Good news for guacamole lovers — it’s the avocado. One whole avocado has 18 grams of fiber, while a serving of whole wheat spaghetti has about 6 grams.

A cup of bran cereal or a cup of oatmeal? A serving of bran cereal has a whopping 10 to 14 grams of fiber. Cooked oatmeal has just half that amount.

A cup of raspberries or five prunes? Despite their reputation for helping you stay regular, canned prunes contain just 3.3 grams of fiber per serving and dried prunes have 3 grams, whereas raspberries have 8.4 grams of fiber.

A couple of handfuls of almonds or a half cup of frozen sweet peas? Take your pick; they have the same amount — 3 grams.

A cup of blackberries or a half cup of cooked black beans? Surprisingly, the two are equally high in fiber, with blackberries at 7.6 grams versus 7.5 grams for the beans.

I think I am addicted to my scale, but I probably should give it up. I only record my weight once a week, but I weigh myself daily.

No, I don't think so. I think it's good to be used in combination with other measures, but not a sole source of success.

2. What fears do you have giving up your scale?
I think it would be harder to chart progress and quantify it, which can be motivating.

3. Do you measure your success or failure according to what the scale reads?
Yes and no. I know it can fluctuate a little, but at the end of the day, my weight does need to ultimately be reduced.

I do weigh myself but have noticed that the numbers fluctuate too much to rely on it - water weight can cause a LOT of variation from day to day!

I prefer to measure my success by what I can do - how far/fast I can walk, how good I feel, how flexible I've become, etc.
