Wish I had a chance to respond fully....but for now, all I can say is, GO DIA! I just love her and her eclectic take on music and an unforgettable voice. As much as I like Javier and I like him a LOT, her voice and performances are the ones that stay with me the longest....

Cindy, when I first saw the Voice, Adam said that these performers could win American Idol and I thought, "Adam, seriously, what are you smoking???" I was initially underwhelmed, though loved the mentors....but as the weeks moved on, as I opened my mind and they blossomed, I have to say "Adam, maybe you had something there..." or maybe I started smoking what he is smoking! LOL...not.

I truly think that Dia, Javier and Vicci could have easily competed with the best AI had to offer this year...it would have made for some stellar comments, that's for sure!

Well, I've had a house full of company for the past week, along with work...but I did take time to tape The Voice. And I watched it for the first time ever. As we've all talked about before, this is a place where we can share our own opinions. I didn't think the contestants were anywhere close to the talent of the finalists on American Idol. After all of the great comments I've heard, I was disappointed. Bu then again...in all fairness...I only listened to them one time. I'll watch again tonight, because I love music and listening to new talent. But I'm really looking forward to X Factor this fall.

We sometimes get company so I miss watching the show, but tape it then don't take time to watch. Duh! You can discuss it, that's okay.
I think I like Javier.

Hated that I didn't get to vote. Hope he doesn't miss sit by one vote. lol

Oh yeah, that's right! Miranda Lambert is to be on. I just saw it on the sidebar huddle.

I was hoping Frenchy would have made the final 4.

Last night was very good...and I am wavering on my fave performer/singer of the night...after it was all said and done, Javier was the one that I thought carried the night with his oh so clear voice and smooth presentation. but this morning, I couldn't shake Dia's rendition of Losing My Religion, my absolute favorite REM song. I was incredibly skeptical when she said she was singing that because Michael Stipe stamped it his own. But with her guitar and newfound presence, and the several DIAisms she invested in the performance, I am sold...I would buy a CD of hers.

I also think that Vicci will be on the way to the finals with her drum anthem. That was really cool and continues to demonstrate her versatility. Now, I don't necessarily like the hair thing, but, hey, if that is the image she wanted for last night, why not?

Beverly outshone Frenchie I thought...in her usual head-shaking best, Beverly did a very nice job on The Thrill is Gone. I may be the only one that thought Like a Prayer did not play into Frenchie's strengths. While I liked the performance, I thought the lack of stage movement hindered what could have been.

I think Casey and Nakea both did very well on their songs. If it weren't for the sheer likability and performing/singing chops of Javier and Vicci, I would have no issues with either of these in the finale. However, and I am not sure why, but sometimes I look at Nakea and think he has a certain "Meatloaf"ian quality...and not because he is a big guy, but there are certain gestures and movements that he makes that are a little campy.

Xenia is a precious gift...she is stiff as a board and I pray that she will loosen up in time...but that voice is unique, memorable, and is laden with STAR quality. I would love to hear her on the radio so that she can join Adele as one of the truly great vocal stylists of this generation which is greatly lacking in major talent. Who are we going to remember from this generation? Hmmm, maybe the door is open for someone like Xenia. I don't think she will make it to the final, but I bet there are folk out there that would be dying to mentor her and see that butterfly open her wings and share her amazing vocals with the world.

Wonderful evening....

I can't believe finals are next week!!! The good news is the show has been renewed for Season 2 and will return.

The 8 semifinalists were very entertaining, but hands down, Vicci won the Best Performance trophy. That little fireball of energy was all over the stage, and I loved the drumming! On Team CeeLo, I choose Vicci over Nakia.

On Team Adam, Javier versus Casey--I gotta go with Javier. Casey managed to sing I Will Always Love You (which has to be one of the hardest songs of all songs to sing) and blend Dolly and Whitney together, yet still put her own Casey touch to it. It was rather hauntingly innocent and sweet. I just don't understand why Javier doesn't already have a record deal and isn't already a huge star. Why hasn't he already been on American Idol or even America's Got Talent????

Bringing me to Team Christina. It's a toss up between Frenchy and Beverly for me. They're both powerhouse singers, but neither is the next VOICE for me. I'd buy Frenchy's records and I'd go to Bev's concerts, but neither one really stands out for me. Frenchy's soulful and Bev's a quirky rocker, and they can both sing, but I can't choose between them.

And finally Team Blake!!!! This is hard because I don't want to choose between Dia and Xenia. I think Dia will get the lion's share of Blake's vote and America's vote, but I loved Xenia last night. She is intriguing. Her voice is so different than anything else out there. Her innocence is touching, and I love watching her and listening to her, and I agree with Blake. She can change the way music is experienced by her generation. That's how unique and original and naturally gifted she is. She is in a class by herself, and we're seeing her at the very beginning of her journey. She's still an infant and doesn't compare performance-wise with a Vicci or a Bev, doesn't have the soulfulness of a Frenchy or Javier, the creative vision of Dia---but she's going to have a huge career. Like Blake, we'll be able to say, "We knew her when."

Loved Blake's reactions last night. All the coaches are so positive with all the singers, and they're all emotionally attached to their teams, but Blake's passion for Dia and Xenia is head and shoulders above everyone else's. Whether Xenia is the VOICE or not, she's got a huge champion in Blake Shelton.

Sorry, everybody. I've been a slacker here! Not good for a team leader of a singing show! Actually, I took a little break, because I was missing Idol...and my workload ramped up right about the same time. Now, if Idol had still been on, I'd have DVR'd it and watched it the middle of the night if I had to (I've actually done that before)! But after reading your great comments about The Voice, I'm motivated. It may be just what the doctor ordered after my stressful days at work lately. And I know that Caliman has also been having work-related stress this week...and HE's here! So, I have no excuse!

I can't tell you enough how happy I am that Blake chose Xenia to move on alongside Dia...what a powerful and diverse twosome they are. I really enjoyed Blake's thought that Xenia is the one he could impact the most. I would absolutely love to hear her sing "To Sir with Love" ala Natalie Merchat. I think it would be brilliant.

I was not nearly as happy with Christina's team...I think Frenchie is a good singer and does have presence, but I just don't see them appealing to the broader and more modern vote. They are both "been there and done that" types, though still very capable performers.

As to the performances of the evening, Javier was amazing on "Angel". He added his own take to the sincerity of the song, while maintaining the quiet allure of the lyrics. Incredibly touching.

Kudos also to Vicci for her very fine performace of "Jolene." Is there anything that she can't sing? She has passion, she has presence and she knows how to use the stage.

My final choice of the night has to be Casey who uncomfortably accepted Adam's suggestion to add some energy to Black Horse and the Cherry Tree. I like Casey and have from the beginning, but it was a tepid like. She really grew into the performance and owned it. Very impressive and a lot of swagger behind that guitar.

ok, one more performance I have to talk about...Cee Lo's team on Everyday People...too much fun. And that Billy Preston wig was amazing.

I am really liking the Voice.

Well, the first round went the way I thought: Frenchy and Beverly for Team Christina. And I hoped fervently that America would save Dia---because I knew Blake would save Xenia..and he did.

Loved Javier's rendition of Angel....but the rest of the performances were a bit lackluster for me. Really hated the Thompson twins and the Bugle Woogie Bugle Boy thing. What was Cee Lo thinking?

Caliman, I agree with you about Xenia's "staged" movements. We saw the choreographer give her those movements during rehearsal to show her how to loosen up, and she came to the performance night, and did the exact same movements, every time she hit those lyrics! True she's never performed before, so I hope she sticks around so we can continue to watch her grow. You're absolutely right in that her performance right now is wooden--but her VOICE is amazing and totally unique.

I fell in love with Blake Shelton when he, Nick Lachey, Patty LaBelle, Michael Bolton and Kelli Williams went back to their hometowns and put together choirs that then competed against one another. I can't remember the name of the show but it aired at Christmastime in 2009, I believe.

Blake is the only mentor/coach that I knew beforehand. I know nothing of Adam LeVine (other than he is a hottie!), Christina A or Cee Lo, but I love how they're taking care of their teams, playing to their strengths, giving them tips, and being real mentors!!! They don't judge the performers, have you noticed? Even when someone misses the mark, they find something in there to praise and then gently say what didn't quite work...all without demeaning the performer!!! I love that.

I want Xenia to make it through...and I wouldn't be hurt if Dia made it through, though I want Patrick to make it through, too. Too many taented people, and only two can go through. Bummer.

But I believe the best is yet to come with Team Cee Lo and Team Adam!

I loved, loved, loved Dia's performance of Heartless....she was amazing, cool vocal stylings, and looked so confident behind the keyboards...I thought she was going to come out from behind the keys a couple of times as her energy was difficult to contain. I watched that one a few times after it was over, much like Haley's performance of Rolling the the Deep or James' even harder rocking take on the "Uprising."

As for Xenia, she has a very special gift, she absolutely does...and with the right coaching, with more time on stage and the ability to be a less wooden performer (didn't like the pageantry arm movements) she can be brilliant. If they keep her around, I would really like to hear her tackle a 10,000 Maniacs/Natalie Merchant song...

I enjoyed the rest of the performers as well, but none like the 2 above....the one that left me a little unsure was the young lady who sang "Big Girls Don't Cry." That is Fergie at her best with at times power and at other times, tenderness....I don't feel that this rendition came close to nailing it...and I loved Blake's comments about the mimes. He is one funny guy.

I agree that Christina was a bit over the top with her comments...and that she can be a bit abrasive, but I think she is trying to be funny and it sometimes falls a little flat. SHe is however a very talented mentor (as they all are) and that is the one aspect of this show that I like more than Idol....Jimmy I is great, but I want more constructive comments from Steven, J-Lo and the Dawg!

Courti, I don't mind saying who I hope will go through. It's only my opinion, after all. So, I'm saying on Team Blake I used all my votes on Xenia. I enjoyed Dia Frampton at the piano, but for a unique voice that stands out from all the rest--and one that is totally unformed and innocent, for me that's Xenia. I agree with Blake-- we're watching a star in the making for all the right reasons.

On Team Christina, I enjoyed Beverly McClelland's performance immensely. I don't much care for her offstage--for a variety of reasons--but once you give her a mike and the music starts, she's awesome and amazing, and so much fun to watch. I love her quirky choreography as well as her vocal stylings.

Back to Team Blake, I also liked Patrick Thomas. Not only can he sing, but that dude can sure rock a cowboy hat. He's easy on my ears and on my eyes, and I loved that he was singing to his sister, so she would step out from his shadow and pursue her own dreams.

I know Christina's the only female coach, but her banter with the other three coaches seems a bit harsh to me. The others are joking and having fun, and she sometimes sounds condescending. I don't know her and haven't followed her career so maybe this is just her personality and everyone else understands that and takes it in stride.

Can't wait to see next week's show because, other than Xenia, I think the strongest singers are on Team Adam and Team Cee Lo.

OK, you guys. This is The VOICE - Not American Idol. We do not have "judges". They are coaches---and more like mentors!! The four coaches (Blake Shelton, Christina Aguilera, Adam Levin (aka the hot hunk), and CeeLo Green) are competing amongst each other to find the next, great Voice.

The first battle round, to me, was the best. I will never know why the producers (in Cee Lo's absence) chose to put Nicky Dawson against Vicci Martinez. That was hands down the best battle, and I hated to see either one go. They sang Pink's "Perfect" and blew it out of the park. Cee Lo went to Nicky afterwards and told her to be sure to contact him 'cause he was going to see about her. Oh, that girl should have made it to the Live shows.

Anyhooo--she didn't and so moving on....I think that Adam and Cee Lo have the two best teams. My faves so far are (and I don't know everyone's name): Vicci Martinez (I think that's her last name) and Curtis Grimes on Cee Lo's team; Bev McClellan and Frenchy on Christina's team; Xenia on Blake's team and Javier and Casey on Adam's team.

Vicci has a powerhouse performance factor, and she can really sell and deliver a song. Same with Bev McClellan, the female rocker. Javier can just plain sing, his voice is like silk and each song just melts out of his mouth like butter.

But so far, my choice for The VOICE is 16 year old Xenia. She has the most unique voice I've heard in a long time. She's young and shy and only recently let people know she liked to sing (keeping it a secret from even her closest friends)....but what a way to 'come out', huh???

The singers are all good, and I love that we didn't have to listen to people who clearly can't sing and then have the audacity to cop an attitude when someone tells them they didn't make it through!!! And I really, really love the camaraderie and competitiveness among the coaches. Now that they've picked their Top Four, let the games begin!!!! As I understand it, each coach will be working with their team members, helping them with song selection, performance, delivery, vocal technique, etc....wanting one of their team members to win. But America votes...not the coaches.

Great show!

I may try to catch the show this week. That's sounds nice about how the judges want to work with people. Maybe American Idol will pick up some pointers on what the fans like and make improvements where needed before Season 11...not that it wasn't already great. But they will definitely have some competition now, with The Voice and X Factor.

Also, I don't know how many of you remember Frenchy who was knicked off American Idol the year Rueben and Clay was on but she is one of the contestants on The Voice. She will be singing again on it. She was a strong and beautiful voice! She has personality also--a lot of personality! I really enjoy seeing her perform.

I do watch The Voice and I love the show! I have only missed once when it was on and it was this past Tuesday! I guess I was so excited about American Idol and Glee that I forgot
The Voice was on. They have some great singing talent on it. I love all the judges and I was
not a Christine A. fan until this show. I like the way that C-Lo, I think that is how you spell his name but I am not sure, has told some of the contestants that did not make it to call him because he wants to work with them and help them. I like the way all the judges get along and tease each other. I will have to watch this Tuesday and give more comments on the contestants. It really is a Great Show! I would recommend people to watch it. It is fun!
