I agree that the Brewer Boys should've gone home, but not at the expense of keeping that really large group. They did make a comment about the "new generation of Glee', and that's about all they're suited for, in my opinion. Lakoda Rayne is alright...not as good as a couple of the groups they let go, but the girls are all very cute, so I'm sure they'll be fine out there in the business with mediocre voices. LOVED the girl that Simon brought back. I could definitely see her winning. On American Idol, she would've blended in with the crowd. But so far, I think she's the only one worth of even considering for a 5 mil contract. Now, the one over 30 guy from Columbus is a strong contender, but I don't think he's going to cut it now that they're going to audience votes. That's scary to me after some of the stuff that's happened on Idol. It was like throwing them to the sharks. CALIMAN, I agree about the kids vs adults. It's not apples to oranges. These singing shows are becoming mass-produced, so it wouldn't surprise me if somebody comes up with a kids only show.

Judges homes, part 1...I LOVED Drew and Caitlyn...what phrasing and tenderness, and Drew is 14! Someone sign this girl.

The guys bored me to tears...just meh.

The groups were surprising decent, though I think the brothers (Brewer? Baxter?) are in trouble...wasn't very good. But I liked the other three including the newly formed country girl group. They have potential.

The over 30s, I thought the stay at home mom and the wedding singer were fabulous...I thought Enrique had tears in his eyes as did Nicole when the single mom sang. Dexter I think is done...

Anyone else have thoughts on the night?

Oh, I didn't like the actual home audition process...seems pointless to me as opposed to what the Voice does which promotes mentoring and a more professional venue.

I'm enjoying X-Factor....for the most part.

Simon, Paula, Nicole and LA are entertaining as we knew they would be. Nicole looked absolutely livid when Simon was pressuring her on Tia (red lips); she should have stuck to her guns and not allowed him or LA to bully her. I'll be interested to see what they bring to the table as mentors as compared to what Christina, Adam, Cee Lo and Blake did over at the Voice.

I was not overly thrilled with the live auditions only because the crowd reminded me too much of America's Got Talent and I tend to find that crowd rather anoying..almost like a Jerry Springer audience. The focus should be on the performing and the judges should make their own decisions without pandering to the crowd.

There are several performers that I like and appreciate...the young 14 year old that added substance to Justin Bieber's "Baby" is very soulful and creative. She did a fine job on "Creep" as well. I'm not big on ANY of the groups...I'm a rock guy for the most part, so Boys to Men wannabees don't do much for me. If they could, they should be on Sing Off. I love the 59 year old fella with the cool look. Amazing what a man can look like at any age if he takes care of himself, but a nice delivery as well. I do not like that they added the young lady who is incredibly full of herself and completely forgot the words to the lyrics when last she sang. Whatever she is selling, I have seen done better by others. I'm shocked by Dexter's addition, as well, but it is a nice story and I pray that something good comes of it for him even if just to get him in a stable and safe environment.

It is a top 20 show, 16 and 17 last week, but I know that they were hoping for bigger numbers. The show is a little too staged for me, but still, I love singing competitions and I think the talent for the most part has some intriguing possibilities.

Did anyone find it amazing how well Nicole blasted out the Whitney lyrics? I had no idea she had that range! If she can do that, she needs to stop all this forgettable pop stuff.

So far it's not looking too good for X-Factor. It was so heavily hyped---yet what they've delivered so far has been deadly dull. First, why get rid of the British judge and replace her with Nicole Scherzinger? And is the friction now going to be between Nicole and Simon since it wouldn't make sense to have Simon and Paula bicker when Simon hand-picked Paula to be a judge with him? Intrigue, intrigue, intrigue.

The contestant with the red lips---that's the one that Simon had to "talk" Nicole into putting through. She auditioned a capella and couldn't stay on pitch and in the right key, but seemed to do a bit better when she had musical accompaniment. I don't know what Simon sees in her, though. I'm still sticked that Makenna and Brock didn't make it!

Yes, you heard correctly. Ike Tina's widow was one of the Over 30 contestants--and no, she didn't make it. They took James Brown/Mick Jagger instead.

The little 12 year old girl (Rachel, I believe)---I hope she gets some experience from this, but having 12 year olds compete with over 30's is just wrong. Why can't we let children be children? And if they have talent and we want to help them develop that talent, what's wrong with a kids-only format? Why do we mix children and adults????

I don't understand what the point is of having the groups in the judges' homes--and I'm sure it's not their real homes. The way these guys say they want privacy, I can't imagine they'd let 8 strangers and camera crews invade their personal space.

I think I understood that over some period of time each mentor will now decide which of their contestants will advance to the live round. I don't know how they're going to determine this, but it should be interesting.

Maybe this week we'll begin to get a flavor of what this show is really all about, but unlike The Voice--they're obviously not looking for someone with pure singing ability. They're looking for that intangible "it' factor. That's why some good singers haven't advanced.

Of the singing competitions that I watch I'd rank them: American Idol, The Voice, The SingOff, Sunday Best, X-Factor. So far.

I watched X Factor!!! I haven't missed an episode so far, but like DIVINEPRINCESS, I'm glad the auditions are over. There was too much drama and annoying stuff (much more so than on Idol auditions, I thought).

I like some of the finalists, and others, I can't believe they picked! I don't care for the young singer with the really big, red, lips. Also, I agree with DIVINE on the young rapper, and probably the 12 year old girl, too (who seems sweet, but isn't ready for this competition). I feel for the James Brown wannabe, and I'm glad that he has something going for him in his life now, to give him some confidence. It sounds like he's had a rough past. However, they let too many good ones go and kept him. I don't agree with that decision.

Did I understand correctly that the one woman is Ike Turner's ex? She actually has some talent, and probably some connections in the industry. Does anyone remember whether they kept her or not? I don't recall.

What does everyone think about them going to the judges' houses? Those judges are brave! It'll be fun to see what kinds of places they take them to, which I doubt are their real, permanent houses. I could be wrong, though. What do I know?!

Come on everybody who's watching this show!! Let's post some thoughts. At the very least, it'll get us warmed up for American Idol Season 11!!!

So where are all the X-Factor viewers? The auditions are over, the Final 32 have been named, but you guys aren't talking? Why is that?

So far I've not been impressed with X-Factor. I hated the audition rounds and am glad they are over.

It's a good Top 32 but I wish Makenna and Brock had made (and not Dexter--the James Brown/Mick Jagger wannabe). I also wish that Simonaze or whatever his name was had made it. Don't like that the little teen rapper. His head is already too big and he hasn't even broken into the business, yet.

]Having the four "judges" turn into mentors is reminiscent of The Voice. I'll watch a while longer to see what this show is about, but so far not impressed at all.

How about a thread on The SingOff?

I'll be here, too....have followed some of the X-Factor news and drama, but the judges look interesting...I guess. I have never been much of a Paula fan, but with Nicole at her side I am wondering if we are going to get double doses of "sweet"...that said, I do like Nicole but probably not for the judging reasons! She was an incredible dancer on DWTS! And, hey, the head Pussycat Doll....now LA Reid, he looks like he is going to be a straight forward kinda talker and I like that...we need that balance!

I know that we're an official American Idol lovers team. But hey...where would Idol be now, if not for Simon Cowell! This is a post for those of us (like me), who are curious about his new show, and who love music so much that we want something to talk about between Idol seasons!
