I believe that different comic stores got different free comics. I got there early enough to see the whole pick and there were no steampunk comics in the mix. We are a fairly small market and often get less than larger population areas when this sort of thing is done.
I concur, I also got the Serenity comic and I found the cover art as the best part as well.
I picked up the new steampunk comic "The Infernal Devices; Clockwork Angel." However, there were no devices in this issue. However it was a full comic and not a preview. I may browse it at the store when the next issue comes out to see if it gets better.
I also picked up the free Dinosaurs verus Aliens, based on the book. It was only a preview, but it had some potental.
I didn't get any of the Avengers, but I'm glad to know the stories were good.
All in all, I thought it was fun to see what they were going to pitch this summer.
Since most of us spend our lives doing ordinary tasks, the most important thing is to carry them out extraordinary well. - Henry David Thoreau
I made it over to my local comic book store on Saturday morning and got the Serenity comic. I read it and passed it to some friends that were out of town Saturday. Sorry, but the cover art was the best part in my opinion. The story was too short and completely predictable. The comic art was fairly crude. For free, I shouldn't complain but still.
I was allowed to pick up 5 and got 3 Serenity/Star Wars comics and two different Avengers comics. (The shop owner said he wound up with extra Avengers that came from another shop last year.) The artwork and stories in the Avengers comic books were pretty good. My friends that I gave them to were quite pleased with me.
