i would go horseback riding on a beach. Never done that...have always wanted to. Lack of money more than any other deterrent. Ditto horse drawn sleigh through the woods. Maybe I could just get in shape enough to maybe take a riding or carriage driving lesson? My childhood love of horses is coming back. ( No never had a horse..lived in suburbs. Barely SAW a horse.) emoticon

I bought the C25K app for my iphone, and I've been using it a bit lately, mixed in with swimming and weightlifting... it's quite good. I never thought I would enjoy running (especially as an ex-smoker), but I'm loving building up my stamina with C25K!

Of course, you don't need an iphone or app to get started... here's the website of the program:

Your body is a machine, give it the fuel it needs:

*Eat before you're hungry, drink before you're thirsty. The machine works better when it's well primed.

*Plan ahead. You wouldn't drive through the desert on a quarter-tank of gas, would you?

*Quality in, quality out. Proper nutrition will help you get maximum benefit from your workout.

Jess, one of my goals is also to run. I have a 5K in October that I would like to be able to run in instead of walk this yr. Have you seen the C25K challenge team on the site. They have a breakdown of a 9 wk. course I think that slowly progresses you from walking to running. Good luck!

I would go surfing, in Mexico, right this very minute!! It's been a long time since I could fit into my rash guard and have enough endurance to paddle out... a surfing vacation is actually the big reward I'm planning for when I make my final goal weight.

I've always wanted to travel to Italy. Can't really say why. I watched Under the Tuscan Sun and that just sold me even more...the landscape is just beautiful! I was just thinking the other day about how much I wish I could run. I remember when I was a kid how nice it felt to just run but then I started smoking at a young age and haven't been able to run since then bc I couldn't breath and would always get shin splints...grr. I quit smoking 2 years ago and I really would like to condition my body to run. Need to find a good starting point!

Did you notice the time of day I wrote the sleep thing...something like 2:57 pm? I had stayed up the night before (till 1:30 am) working on tax preparations. That could have contributed to the... If you could do anything RIGHT NOW... I too used to work night shift in the hospital and couldn't sleep much at all in the day; so I relate with you there.

Normally, I don't have a sleep problem; however, sometimes there are varied interruptions beyond my control.

The RIGHT NOW part was what I wanted at that moment...sleep. It is now 10:42 pm and I haven't been there yet. I must admit there are so many things I love to do, and it seems night is my time. I wrote a poem late one night when the rain was tinkling on our metal roof...about the splendor of night. It's a time when most are asleep and things are quiet...my time. The imbalance of it all is: my priorities are write, read, AND SLEEP. You are right, it is attainable...

Sleep is such an attainable goal...most of the time, lol. I remember when I worked the overnight shift, no matter what I couldn't get more than 4 or 5 hours of sleep, even if I had the time. My body just said no, even though I was so tired!

One thing that helps with sleep is getting plenty of water through the day. My thought was more water will make me have to get up more through the night, but actually it helps the body run correctly, and I sleep better when I'm hydrated. You could also keep a food journal to find out if certain types of food are keeping you from sleeping. Another good idea is to see if you are active enough during the day.

If wanting sleep is just a matter of not having the time to sleep a full 8 hours, I suggest seeing if you can rearrange your schedule. Getting enough sleep will help you be more productive and efficient through the day.

Great inspiration :) You can get there!!

If I could do anything, anything right now...it would be to take a good nap; and when I wake up, finish my taxes, then work on finishing my book called "The Thing." But for the moment, I'm checking out my SP emails, then it would be so nice to SLEEP.

Wow if I could do anything I think I'd take a worldwide cruise. I don't know what the fascination is, but I read about one a couple years ago and was sold. For now, I'll be happy to take a regular week-long cruise once I get down to my goal weight.

I would want to take my kids to the park and actually be able to run around with them without almost passing out.

The only thing I want right now is to be healthy again.

I love destination or distance goals! While it may not be feasible to travel to these destinations right now, who says you can't prepare! There are some great "virtual walk/run" teams out there. Check them out. Travel there virtually, and the more you learn about the location, the more this might inspire you to make this dream a reality! Here are some quick links to some active virtual times, or you can go to the Spark Team home page and search "virtual". Have fun on your journey. I think I just might start tracking my journey to StoneHenge!

If you could do anything right now, and not worry about money or weight to stand in your way, what would you like to do? Climb mountains? Swim with whales? Explore the African safari? Explore your dreams, then lets see how close to reality we can make them!! It might be closer than you think :)
