Valentine’s Day may be all about hearts, flowers and candy but that’s going to change. I declare February to be about “self-love” which means taking care of YOU, watching what you eat, exercising regularly and becoming the best YOU possible.

Hi. I use MyScorePlus ($3.99) I have only been using it a week, but it is pretty user friendly. What I like best is the icon shows either how many points you have used or have left for the day.

My iphone and aps really gave me the motivation. It started with a pedometer ap, and I realized that on a slow day for me I walk 3.5 miles a day. I said to myself how can I be so overweight if I am on my feet that much of the day. Then I joined momentum and the weight really melted away, until Nov 29th. still losing, but it has been a struggle. Looking forward to checking out some of these Ap's. Haven't given the name of the pedometer ap, because unfortunately recently they cahnged it. I spend a lot of time on my feet and then time sitting still the original ap stopped timing/counting if you were not moving. So you got calories burned, time you were moving speed and average speed. Was awesome, now timer continues moving or not. I may look to get a diferent pedometer, but so far in my day to day life, I pretty much have trained myself to know how far all routes are to and from work, and how much I am on feet oon long busy day vs short slow day. I can still use it when I really go for a walk.

I just downloaded myfitnesspal on my blackberry yesterday. LOVE it! Hate double tracking on the WW site but I want to get a handle on calories/points that I'm taking in. I may end up cancelling WW online if this goes well.

My son and future DIL showed me Myfitnesspal. I'm using it and like it. Makes me see what areas I'm lacking in at the end of the day.

I have an Android and it has a great app called PointsList. Has a huge database and gives you Momentum points. At least mine does now, if there's an update to it I won't install.

I actually just downloaded WWDiary and it's a far superior app! All Android WW folks should definitely check it out!

Well, I must say that I probably have the most Calorie Counter apps on my IPod than anyone else! :-) Every time I find one that is free, I download it to give it a try. They are all good in one way or another, but today I found one that I really like. It is called "DailyBurn." What I particularly find helpful is that with each food search, there is an accompanying picture of the item, so you definitely know if it is your exact product. It also gives the full nutritional information as you would see it on the box or package. Some of the other apps have inputs by everyday users, so you really don't know how accurate the information is. This one shows the "official" brand name. It is very extensive and easy to use. Has anyone else tried this app? As I mentioned already, it is free!

Marie

Thanks! I appreciate your help. I was frustrated with the PP system so started on the old plan last week. I think it just works better for some people. I have been staying at 20 per day, with the exception of one 29 pt day. Because I have had a bad cold, I have been walking each day but not getting hard cardio workouts. Hopefully I will have better results at weigh in this week, either Tues or Wed. Thanks again.

Azrita1. I think it is 22 dailys for 160-169 pds when you get to 159 you loose a point.

If someone has the old materials, can you tell me how many points I get per day? I am 53, 5'4", weigh 163. I don't know if you factor in exercise, but I do exercise regularly, go to the gym 5 days per week. Other than that, exercise, I don't get exercise at a job. I get regular movement housekeeping, shopping, etc. Thanks, Shelley

Hi, I just joined Sparkpeople. I, like many of you had really good success with the old plan, which was either 123 Success or Momentum, really not sure. I rejoined and have been very disappointed in the result from the PP. I did download the iwatchr onto my iphone. But does anyone know of an older app that would not only have the calculator and diary, but the food lists and their point values? I am not sure that they even had one that included those options. I was going to go on ebay and purchase a complete starter kit for the old plan, but wanted to see if there is any app available that includes that information. Frustrating because I love the new PP app, so much information at our fingertips, too bad the plan just isn't working for so many. I don't know why they couldn't offer both....they did that way back when with the flex & core plans. Thanks! Shell

TEANNA_W - That looks like a great plan! And I'm definitely with you on the "just trust us" method not quite being up to par! I don't think I'll be just trusting WW's assessment of their plans for quite a while! I'm still hoping they will change something soon, but even when they do, I will be veeeery skeptical! Not trusting just anyone with my weight again! Learned that lesson well after the 5+ gain on P+!! haha.

PUMA - I'm so glad you found that out. I was just sifting through the boards to find where we were talking about this so I could tell you I found out that it does track for Momentum. :-) Awesome that you love it - now I know what to suggest for iPhone users. :-)

JEN - Can you get iWatchr on iPad? Is it available? I would think it would be because Puma was able to get it on her iPhone...? Fingers crossed that it is!! :-)

My plan of attack is:

1) Tracking on PP but I calculated my DPT at 27 and I also added back the 4-pt fruit/veggie allowance, leaving me with a 31 DPT.
2) Tracking all fruit using the actual PP calculation (so, bananas are 3, medium fruits are about 2, 1/2 cup serving is 1).
3) Using APs first, then see how many WPs I'm actually using after that.
4)Tracking on Momentum with a 23 DPT to get a comparison, again using APs first, WPs after that.
5)Tracking calories and nutrients for a comparison as well.

I'll be doing this for the remaining 3 weeks of my on-line membership to get a comparison.

Maybe it's just me, but I have to know how things work. I really don't do well with the "Just trust me" position. :-)

so i got iWatchr for my iphone, and yes, bliss, it totally still does momentum also!!! thanks for the tip!!!! it's awesome, i love it. i mainly just use it for the calculator, because i'm keeping a written journal to track my pts. but just for the calculator, it's completely worth it. it has a way to track pts in there, too, so i use that sometimes also, but still also write in my journal. i feel much more accountable when i see it in my own handwriting.

Does anyone know of an app for the iPad that I could use for Momentum (the old Points) tracking? I got DH an iPad for Christmas, was thinking maybe I could use it to enter my food daily instead of manually calculating everything on my old Momentum calculator.

Thanks in advance!

I'm not sure if it does. :-( I can't seem to get in touch with my best friend, either. We work opposite hours so I don't think she's seeing my texts.

I just looked online though and it looks as though they added P+ but it might still feature both plans. I've got to read through more reviews to find out....I'll see what I can find! :-)

Hi Janna!

I'm not familiar with the iPhone apps (I have a droid myself), but my best friend who has an iPhone swears by iWatchr and My Fitness Pal. Both look awesome to me!! :-) You'll have to let us know what you think of them so we can recommend them to others if they are good ones. :-)

For anyone interested, there is also a SparkPeople food/activity app. I love it so far!! I can grab my calories there from their food list (or my own) to put into my WW tracker app. Fantastic!!

I use CalorieCounter by FatSecret and My fitnesspal on my android phone to track calories and give me nutritional info for the WWdiary calculator. It helps because between the 2 apps I can find almost any food and get values.

I created my own Excel spreadsheet for tracking and comparison purposes, calories/Momentum/PP. It also has a spot for activity points at the bottom and automatically deducts when I go over in Momentum or PP.

I probably won't keep it up forever, just not sure if I want to stick with the online tracker on WW, or give it up and just stick to Momentum. If I just stick to Momentum (I have all the tools) I will continue to use the spread sheet.

I find I really do best with the ol' paper & pencil journals! I liked tracking on the computer on the old Momentum program too with eTools, but it's often easier to just be able to flip open my tracker & see it. Somehow keeps me more honest too. I am dying for a smart phone to do apps though!!!! emoticon

Ok, so my top tool is the Android App WWDiary. I LOVE this app! You can track using Momentum or PP - and it's super handy on the go. With a calculator and tracker, and the ability to categorize and save previously entered foods, it is my fave! :)

PS I also love the Spark App available for all smartphones. ;)

What tools have you found to help you stay on track? Have you created any of you own?
