I think where I notice most of my sodium comes from 'low fat' or 'low carb' packaged stuffs! Really makes no sense, but whenever they don't put the 'real' fat/carbs in, they seem to have to supplement with salt! (& as preservative as well)

Its all a conspiracy to get us to eat "right" and "healthy"... avoiding eating OUT and "packaged/prepared" foods that require preservatives... for years, whenever I buy canned veggies (green beans, corn, peas)... it's always been the DelMonte because they're the only ones I see with "no salt added" on the label. I've paid this premium for years, and I guess I'd be even worse off if I hadn't.

Just watch the labels, sodium is always listed on everything... and guarantee if it says "diet" or "lite" or "low/no fat"... it has more sodium than the regular version! My biggest addiction - diet soda/pop. I think I've found that diet coke appears to have a smidgeon less sodium than diet dr pepper LOL - but, most recently discovered that the 20oz bottle of Sierra Mist Undercover Orange has only 25mg sodium! (compare to 24oz diet dr at about 110mg, 16.9oz diet coke has 30mg)

So, even though I prefer the larger 24oz bottles that the diet dr is available in, I've been paying more per oz for the others, to get my caffeine and bubbles fix. Also have found, drinking a LOT less overall (and saving money)... guess it's too much effort to have to keep getting up to get another when the smaller portion empties ;o)

...

Life is a ROCK, but the radio rolls me!

Just call me Prin (easier on your fingers!) (unless you were counting that as exercise!!!)

OMG! So I just added sodium to the tracking at the bottom of my nutritional page. And I am SHOCKED! I am not really a salt person, I go for sweets. Sugar sugar sugar. Muffins and cake and donuts and chocolate and pudding and cheesecake - food of the Gods. But I have been over my limit on salt EVERY DAY! I don't salt any of the things I eat. So I am shocked and appalled at myself.

This cannot be good. It must be bad for weight loss, might explain why my blood pressure is high (just a wee bit).

For those of you who have cut back on salt, where did you start? I have no idea what I need to do differently? Maybe the sugary things have a lot of salt too? Is that possible? Can sweets be sneaky double daggers to my weight loss plan?

Yes, I'm all for letting the rocks themselves think about being rocks (if they do "think" or "want", which I strongly doubt since they have no brain). So I guess I'll let the rocks NOT think about being rocks, then.

As for me, I think I'm going to go grab some lunch, because unlike a rock I need to eat. C'ya!

Morning. Good nights sleep. I'm ready to not be a rock anymore! For today. One baby step at a time. And since rocks can't take baby steps (no limbs), I would make no progress being a rock. SO I'll be me gain today. Off to work. Need to schedule interviews - which I dread more than the dentist. Matter of fact, I went to the dentist Tuesday, and I'm still putting off scheduling interviews! LOL. Hope you all have a great day. A non-rock-like day. Let's do SOMETHING today. Maybe even a walk to the corner and back. The rocks will be jealous. They couldn't do that. Maybe I'll carry a rock to give it some support. They say giving is a great form of mental therapy! Don't know who "they" are, lbut I'm sure "they" know best.

Ah, but the thing about a rock is: It doesn't know it's a rock! (At least I don't think it does. [scratches head]) If I were a rock, I certainly wouldn't want to know that I was a rock. I'd just be happy to... (well no I guess I wouldn't because I wouldn't feel any emotion at all--I'm a rock!) And a rock wouldn't want to be us, because, well a rock wouldn't want anything, being a rock and all. emoticon

And if I were a rock, then I wouldn't be me and so it wouldn't be myself that was me being the rock, it would be the rock that was being the rock, and so it wouldn't actually be me, it would be the rock. So if I was really a rock... then 'I' wouldn't be a rock. So would the rock be me? No, I don't think that works either. Oh gosh, this whole idea of being a rock has got my head spinning in circles! emoticon

It's past my bedtime. I think maybe it's time to turn the brain off for the night before it overheats from thinking too hard about the existential quandaries imposed by rock-ness. Goodnight, y'all! emoticon

If we loose our brain and emotions we would be nothing more than a rock. People would sit on you, pick you up and toss you in a lake, kick you as they are walking down the street, unless you got really lucky, then they would cut you up nicely polish you and make you into a diamond ring to be smuggled out of Africa illegally, fall into the toilet and get accidentally flushed into sewer.

I'll stick to my brain and my emotions.

Do you still want to be a rock?

Brains and emotions - if we could just loose those two, everything would be so much easier!

I've got me one of those (a brain).

I'm afraid it's not all it's cracked up to be! One time I set all my clocks 5 minutes ahead one morning to try and not be late all the time any more. The brain wasn't fooled! It remembered perfectly. Saw 8:35 and thought "that means it's really 8:30". Stupid brain! Then when I gave up and set the clocks back, it forgot that I had done so and kept subtracting five minutes from the time! Doh! Brains are nothing but trouble if you ask me.

Whew! Thank you all - you made me laugh and I made it through the day.

Corned beef hash - I run 4 corporate cafe's, and it was on the breakfast line. Next to the tater tots, bacon and biscuits (which I did not indulge in, thank you very much). So when the munchkin line for food gets too long, and my wizards have to take care of customers first, I get impatient and grab whatever is easy. If I could just learn a little patience, my cooks would make me anything I want.

Sigh, if I only had a brain......

We all have our "scarecrow" moments (keeping with the Wizard of Oz theme we seem to have going). Go skipping (a little more physical exercise) down the Yellow Brick Road today and "think happy thoughts" like Glenda the Good Witch would say. Sounds like something Glenda the Good Witch would, anyway.

I was feeling the same way yesterday, I even had a donut because I felt like giving up. Then I got an itch on my calf, when I scratched it I found a muscle. God honest truth.

Just when it starts looking crappy something wounderful comes up, stay on track and just keep thinking healthy eating thoughts.

Well, don't beat yourself up about it, just drink a little more water and get a little more cardio in today.

I still have to have my occasional Reese's cup...

You just made it back to Kansas by posting about it...and you can spend a few more minutes exercising (riding the bike with that little dog basket) and it will be a wash for the week. (I think I seriously just butchered your analogy.)

I can relate to the muffin. But seriously...corned beef HASH as binge trigger? If I did that I'd have a migraine for a week! And how did it happen to be available? Was it leftovers? In the employee lunch fridge? What? I'm envisioning you at the office, plate of hash on your desk. I'd probably spill it all over my keyboard. Or sneeze and get it on my monitor. Okay, somebody stop me now!

HEAVY SIGH! So I'm out of control this morning. I have no idea what is wrong with me. I haven't eatien this kind of stuff in a MONTH, and today it apple cinnamon muffin and corned beef hash. Didn't even ENJOY it that much. Why did I eat it? Wsn't bored. An employee I was going to fire quit so I wasn't stressed. What is wrong with me? Why can't I stay on the path instead of going down the yellow brick road of food? Dorothy, were not in Kansas anymore.
