My mother was on Lipitor. She had horrible muscle problems, and was even given injections into her hands for carpal tunnel, and it was lipitor. I have had to fight the doctor over everything, but ultimately my mom had to agree. She's been with me for ten years now, and the last 4 or so she came around to my thinking. She has problems with plavix, and a multitude of other drugs. She is on CQ10 now, and I want to add Red Yeast Rice. Now that she's 90, they are not fighting me as hard. All I can say, is if you become a caregiver, be prepared. It is a constant fight.
Thank you EJ for mentioning she needs her CQ10 with the red yeast rice. Your the bomb

I take 100mg of coQ10 twice a day everyday because that is what stopped all my muscle spasms and cramps in the middle of the night and in the middle of walking and exercising. It worked immediately for me. Before that just walking to the kitchen my legs would spasm and cramp and could not even walk, my feet and ankles were even freezing up but no more. Even my hands and fingers would lock up with cramps. That coQ10 took care of every bit of that problem after suffering for years.
Thank you for posting EJ,I was so happy I am not taking Statins.I have been on them and legs ached so much I went off and never will go on them. There are many prescription medications that raise triglycerides as well.

If you tell God no because He won't explain the reason He wants you to do something, you are actually hindering His blessing. But when you say yes to Him, all of heaven opens to pour out His goodness and reward your obedience. What matters more than material blessings are the things He is teaching us in our spirit. If I was to be on any statin drug I would be taking at least 100 mg of CoQ10 twice a day. I take 100 mg a day and I am not on any statin. Also if you are having problems with cholesterol watch your sugars and foods that turn to sugar. Big culprit here! It's not the fats!!!
Took zocor generic for a couple of years then stopped because of research but never linked it to diabetic which I have since been diagnosed. Thanks for the information.

Beware: This Popular Drug Can Actually Cause Diabetes
Tens of millions of Americans are taking cholesterol-lowering drugs - mostly statins - and some "experts" claim that many millions more should be taking them, including children as young as eight. I couldn't disagree more. Statins are HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors, that is, they act by blocking the enzyme in your liver that is responsible for making cholesterol (HMG-CoA reductase). The enzyme that these drugs block is actually responsible for far more than making cholesterol.
It also makes CoQ10 which is vital for your mitochondrial health. The fact that statin drugs cause side effects is well established - there are now 900 studies proving their adverse effects, which run the gamut from muscle problems to diabetes, to birth defects and increased cancer risk.
Now you can add exercise-related muscle damage to the ever growing list of harmful side effects.
