Here are yesterday's minutes. I did not actually intend to have this many minutes. I planned a hike up a local mountain trail, which I did with a friend. When we got back to the car I realized I didn't have the GPS unit with me and we had to repeat the hike, it had been left at the top where we had sat admiring the view. So doubled the minutes!

Hi Tammy and Maria,
I am really struggling with keeping up with everything. I still try to stay on track but haven't recorded everything or checked in daily. But I decided to back track to the last time I visited here and add up any minutes that I actually did record. I have done more exercise than this but this is actually documented and I feel can legitimately be sued to help with this challenge. This includes minutes through yesterday:

146,576 - 1,270 = 145,306

Hope that helps a bit.

Stayed home all day yesterday with a sick kitty (except while I was at the vet). I didn't do any exercise. I'm not feeling very well. I'll try to force myself to the gym tonight.

Hey guys....I just got back into town....I was not able to keep up with recording fitness minutes these last couple of weeks. But I will try to start contrubuting again. Should have some decent minutes for today with all of the snow shoveling. Glad I got back in to town before it started so I didn't have to drive through it. The storm pretty much chased me across four states yesterday...but I beat it to my house!

How have you guys been?

Here are my minutes for today.

This is a really hard time of year. I hope you feel better soon.

I have hives of all things. I think it must be stress related since I haven't used any new toiletry products and I'm not eating anything unusual. I can't wait until 2014 gets here.

I did 30 min Fri, 94 min Sat, and 20 min Sun.

It looks like it's just the 2 of us. I wonder what happened to Rene??

I'm trying to get into a routine with my exercise again but I'm struggling. I did a bunch of walking on Wednesday and a combo of walking and the gym on Thursday.

I'm planning a long walk for tomorrow, I hope it actually happens. It's awfully cold here, supposed to be 19 tomorrow morning.

I'm trying to remodel and get ready for Christmas at the same time. Ugh! Why do I do this to myself??

Monday I did 120 minutes (walking and elliptical)
Tuesday I started not feeling good again and just walked - 85 minutes

I'm feeling a bit better today, trying to take care of myself so I don't get another cold.

I hope you're having a fantastic week!!

Congrats on all those minutes Maria, truly awesome!!
I'm having trouble figuring out my minutes because I work really hard for 10 minutes then do much less active work for 30 then back to really strenuous work for a while. Anyway, I'm at my boyfriend's for the holiday and not doing anything like that right now. I've been walking a bunch since Thursday. I don't have nearly the minutes you do though. My total Thursday through today is 424.

Tammy, I checked the fitness tracker yesterday and they seemed to have designations for remodeling and construction. If you are moving much and you are like me you might want to find a way to log those fitness minutes! They are so rewarding to me. emoticon emoticon Anyway, I got busy with that and ran out of time to log in yesterday. emoticon I had 440 minutes total yesterday and today 60 to make 500 even!

154,106-500=153,606 And Another K down! emoticon

Have a Wonderful Thanksgiving!!

I hope you are both doing well.

I've been struggling lately. I'm feeling really disillusioned with SP and haven't wanted to get on much. I did a 30 minute walk on Friday and I'm claiming 105 minutes for Sat & Sun combined. I was busy remodeling my condo.

Sorry I've been MIA for the last week. I got sick and haven't been doing anything since last Tuesday. I'm feeling a bit better today but still skipping the workout. I'll try to get back to a modified workout routine tomorrow.

Last Tuesday I did 25 minutes on the Elliptical before I realized I wasn't just trying to talk myself out of going to the gym, I was actually coming down with a cold.

Hi again! I could not find Most Mom but I did find Hula Hoop Allstars under "Hooping" in the listing for Spark teams. Daimere a leader goes into detail and has several sites to visit for info about sizing. Work calls...

Hi Guys!

My daughter gave me her hoop that someone gave her. I have an article from the internet about sizes and how to make them and will try to find it. I remember they were different weights and sizes for novices and experts.

. They can be bought on the internet for maybe $35 to $50, I would guess. They are handmade and heavy so they keep revolving and not dropping like the old, light kind you would buy in a store for kids. I considered making one because we are familiar with the irrigation tubing that most people are using. DH said he would need to buy a ton of tubing and never got it for me. I thought I might make them and have hooping parties with friends and the family which is crazy as everyone is so busy.

Mostmom is on SP and I read about it on her site. She has a video blog that is hilarious! I figure it has to be a lot like belly dancing and very good for the abs and core and it adds fitness minutes. I will find the hula hooping article and report back.

I am def going to get some walking poles! I do not get away to hike much now with me working 6 days a week along with WA and yoga, but I'm hoping this will change when I am able to retire next year. If either one of you ever get close to San Diego let me know! It would be a hoot to meet up!! Tammy, i am only about an hour away from the Borrego Desert. emoticon

My fitness minutes were 160 and I will sub yoga tonight so 220 total.

Tammy, I will have to give those poles some serious thought, especially if I am going to do more of that type of hiking which I would like to do. I am not sure what I would have done with the poles for the last section though. I had to use both hands to climb that part. But I like the idea, thanks.

I am sorry that your coworkers are being such smucks. That can make for long unhappy days. Those are the days I go geocaching after work to get that all out of my mind.

Maria, I too have been wondering about that hoolahooping stuff. I wasn't very good at it as a kid either but I have been thinking about giving it a try too. Are there different weights to the hoops and how do you decide which one to get?

Here are my minutes through yesterday, (not done with todays workout yet):

Maria - How much did your hoop cost?
Hiking poles will definitely help your knees. I bought them for my hips but have started using them full-time while hiking because of a knee injury I had about 8 years ago and an ankle injury about 3 years ago. They take just enough weight off your legs to help your joints. And, I've read you burn more calories since you're using your arm muscles as well as your legs.
BTW - I was planning on taking vacation last winter and going to the Borrego Desert. There ended up being a Union dispute and I was afraid I'd have to go on strike and wouldn't have the $ to go, so I didn't. I spent too much $ this summer to go this winter, but it's still on my list of places to go.

Today is a bit better. I'm still feeling a bit picked on at work. I wish I could take some vacation time but I just don't earn that much.

I skipped the gym last night but will be back at it today. I walked about 5 miles yesterday.

Rene FanTabulous job on your marathon hike!! emoticon Here I was so proud of my little desert foray into the Borrego Desert today! It was a beautiful clear day in the 80's. I couldn't go as far as I would have liked because of my knees. emoticon It was uphill, rocky and sandy all hard on my right knee. I do not want another incident like 3 months ago.

Tammy sorry to hear that you have had such a rough day. I am hoping you are feeling better by now and that things will soon work out with your co-workers.
Great fitness minutes! Would your hiking poles help my knees?
Hooping is a great way for me to add mindless, fitness minutes. I can (almost) do it in both directions now waist and arms. Still hurts a bit though. It is very heavy which is good for a beginner. Probably better for my waist too! I might have to work harder if I get a lighter one. I am not sure.

My fitness minutes for the past 3 days were a combo 227.

Maria - Great minutes! Maybe someday I'll try hooping. Maybe??

Rene - Great job on the hike! I'm not sure of your age but did you use hiking poles? You can get a pair for cheap these days. I started using them some of the time (on steep hikes) when I was about 25 years old and have been using them all of the time for the last several years (due to injuries that have weakened my joints). They're fantastic for reducing hip pain, at least for me. That was originally why I bought them. I still have my original set and they cost me $50. The best 50 bucks I ever spent!

I've been having a few rough days. I was set on pulling myself together for today but feel totally shat upon by my co-workers today. I've been comforting myself with chocolate. I feel sick now and could probably honestly go home sick. But, it's probably just too much sugar in my system.

Here are my minutes from the last 3 days (fri, sat, sun)

Sorry, it has been hard to get to everything that I want to lately but I have been keeping track of my exercise and lurking on the Spark pages. Maria you have really been doing great on your goals lately as usual. Glad you are on my team. I had some pretty slacker days. Glad you were there to pick the team up. And Tammy you would have been proud of me yesterday. I did a 7-8 mile hike with over a 1000 ft elevation change yesterday. It took me five hours and at the end I just kept thinking just keep moving even if it is slow. My hop joints are really sore now but I did it!

Here are all of my minutes from the last week.

emoticon fitness minutes Tammy!! emoticon

There are special weighted hoops that work so much better. The light ones do not work for me at all. I have been increasing my minutes in the morning while I watch TV or listen to music..or both! It's easy, fun and mindless. I joined a challenge where you measure your waist for November and hope to "whittle" mine down a bit instead of what can so easily happen during the holidays. emoticon

I accumulated 445 fitness minutes the last 4 days.

Maria - You'll have to let me know how you like hooping. I sucked at it when I was a kid, I can't imagine I'd be "better" at it as an adult. That doesn't stop from thinking about trying it, tho.

I did my usual 5 miles yesterday + 45 mins on the Elliptical trainer. I was feeling very sluggish and heavy yesterday. But I forced myself to workout and made it through.

I decided not to go to the gym last night. I was feeling just a little icky. I feel better today after about 9+ hours of sleep. I did my usual walking yesterday, a 5 mile walk today and P90X earlier this morning. I'm planning on spending this afternoon shopping. It's been a while and I'm looking forward to it.

It turned out that the food wasn't anything I really like and I didn't overeat. I brought a veggie platter and I think only 2 of us ate any. I couldn't believe the comments, "I don't eat vegetables", etc. with lots of grimacing. I guess I won't do that again. Maybe I won't participate next time at all. Several people in my group didn't.

I needed a mental health day and called in sick. I spent the morning chopping up the vegetables, bagging them in 1 cup portions and freezing them. I also made vege soup to bring with me to work. I have a hard time eating raw veges and having some healthy, low sodium soup should help me get all my vege svgs per day.

Yesterday I did 35 min on the Elliptical, ST and a 2.8 mile walk for a total of 120 minutes. Today, I won't be walking since I live so close to work and called in sick. I did do 60 minutes of P90X. That always kicks my butt. I'm doing a ton of housekeeping as well, but I don't count those minutes.

I walk/jogged my first unofficial 5K, meaning it was just me with a tracker running walking around a park....but I did it. All the way straight through.....it took me forever to do so you know....probably no great speed awards....but who cares....I did it!

Can you tell I am a little excited about it?

ok, I will move on now...

I've been having trouble motivating myself to workout on Sundays the last couple of weeks. I've been busy running errands and getting ready for the work week and time slips away from me. I'll give it another week before I decide if I need to change my "day off" from Friday to Sunday.

I did 29 minutes of ST yesterday and that was all.

I went for a 7.6 mile hike with a 1600 foot elev gain. It took about 220 minutes. It was so nice to get out in the sun. The fog ended today, now it's raining, even in the mountains. We saw a bunch of backpackers yesterday, I bet they're wet this morning!
