One day at a time is the only way to do it, Amy! My gosh, I am SO sorry you are going through all of this. I had an abnormal mammogram too - back at the beginning of Mom's illness - had to have a repeat and then ultrasound, but all was well. Will be praying for that for you too!

Am looking forward to getting back on the exercise train tomorrow - good for you for getting back to the gym!

Dianney--- emoticon I missed you but I knew you had a lot going on!!! Sorry to hear about your mom.

I have recovered from my thryroidectomy now to have a breast biopsy because I had abnormal mammograms.....ARGH!! Then they are seeing abnormal lymph nodes in the neck.....really they looked into this before surgery!!! So once I get the breast biopsy done then I will focus on that part. I have made it back to the gym but still have not lost the weight that I gained but one day at a time!!!

So, Amy, how are you doing, post-surgery??? Hope you are doing well!

I have been gone for a while now - as you may have gathered, my mom was diagnosed with cancer from the CT scan - liver with pancreatic involvement. Was given about 6 months -- she passed last Saturday. I was caring for her just about 24/7 so exercise and everything else went out the window. Add to that, my daughter washed and dried my Fitbit (trying to be helpful with doing laundry), so I am waiting for my new one to arrive.
Next week hope to get back on the bandwagon. This past week I have been eating non-stop but it doesn't seem to have hurt me too badly in the weight department...yet. Let's hope I can get back in the groove soon - I am still exhausted.

I finally lost 1 lb this week.WOOHOO!! I am still over the 200 mark which I am not happy about but I WILL GET THE REST OFF!!!
Trying to find a consistant routine is my biggest obstacle right now.
I have to have my thryoid out next week due to thryroid cancer so I will have 2 weeks off work, YIPPEE!!!

Hope you ladies are doing better...seems like we all have things going on........ARGH!!!

Dianne, I hope your Mom can get treatment and begin to feel better. I will be thinking of you and her and offering a prayer.

I came on because my chiropractor posted another warning about aspartame. Artificial sweeteners have been a one of my biggest campaigns in my own little world.They scare me and i wish people i care about would care enough about themselves to NOT use them. So many people even allow their children to have access to this poison. THAT is frightening.

Dianne.. I know that situation, eating out alot because of family situations. No time for exercise, that was me the month of May!!!

I weighed in today only slight decrease from last week. I did get to exercise some this week. So I did have some improvements.

Hi Amy, I weighed myself sometime last week and was 158.6. My exercise program has gone out the window. My 86-yr-old mother is ill - just diagnosed with a recurrence of pancreatitis (cause unknown at this point). Why they did not put her in the hospital is beyond me, but at this point I am caring for her at her home, spelled occasionally by her 89-yr-old sister! At any rate, all I can do at this point is try and watch food, although DH stops by on his way home from work with takeout for me most nights. Don't think I have done too much damage but am anxious to get her better and get home and back to my routine. She has a CT scan scheduled for Wednesday - hopefully we will get some answers and then some treatment!

People tell me to move into an assisted living situation. I say I'd get the mentality of an 80 year old person (a disabled one!). I don't want that . I am turning 65 in a few days. Chris

Chris, I am really glad you found us! I am not in exactly the same situation but my mom just turned 86 in Feb and her health seems to be starting to deteriorate..I am the one she leans on, so caregiving is taking up quite a bit of my time as well. All she wants to talk about are her symptoms and her medications...

Hi Chris - I have NO idea what is going on with the Yankees! But we love them anyway! :-)

I have been sparking for quite a while (off and on). I lost a bunch of weight, slacked off, and gained half of it back. It wasn't until my husband got me a Fitbit that shows me my steps and my calories burned in daily living that I have really been able to get going again. It is slow but so far steady. I have lost 11.5 pounds since the beginning of the year. Woohoo! 15 more pounds to go...

Hope to see you hanging out here more often too - we are a fun bunch and a supportive group. Go Yankees!

Hi, I'm Chris. I am following the Yankees more this year. My husband had a stroke 6 years ago. He isn't interested in much. I thought if I kept watching baseball, maybe he'd become interested again. I know next to nothing about sports. I did grow up following the Yankees somewhat. I am almost 65. I watched one game and the Yankees lost. then, I heard they lost hte next game, too. What's going on?

Accountability--well I have been at this weight thing for many years. I am not new to SP. I joined in 2008. almost a year ago, I started a team focusing on the Evening Eating problem. I mostly hang out there.

Well, got a new scale, the Fitbit Aria, which wirelessly connects to my Fitbit account. It weighs both Fred and me about 1.2 lbs heavier than our other scale. Body fat is about the same. Even with that, it looks like I have gained a pound or so from last week but lost .5% of body fat.

Weight: 162.5 with Aria (161.3 old scale)
Ave steps/day: 9825
Calorie deficit:567/day
Activity calories: 931/day (short of 944/day) This week's goal: 957

This week, in addition to cutting carbs, I am going to try and keep my dinner calories about 30% or less of my daily total - one of Fitbit's recommendations for people trying to lose weight. At this point, I will try anything. I wish my weight loss would be more consistent and regular, but I will not give up!

Finally! "Lost" 3.4 pounds this week, although I think I probably started more around 162 than 163.4. Whatever - I will take it --- 160.0 this morning!!

One slice of whole-grain bread instead of two for a sandwich at lunch - and egg-white omelets a couple mornings for breakfast instead of wheat bagels -- maybe that is what did it! Plus, the weather was nice enough to walk to church yesterday (about 3 mi round-trip).

Ave steps/day: 9077
Ave calorie deficit/day: 607
Ave activity calories/day:935 (goal 930) This week's goal will be 944/day.

(I love my Fitbit! The combination of SP and the Fitbit have really helped me get in the right direction!)

It's hard when you're on vacation, especially around relatives. My mom-in-law used to be the one to try and fatten me up!

This week: 7581 daily average steps goal 8500 not so good. staying at 8500 this week
533 calorie deficit goal 500
953 activity calories goal 903

Weight bounced between 162 and 163.4 all week. Mon AM was 163.4. Frustrated and not sure why the calorie math isn't working. I am very careful about measuring food, etc. Maybe upping my water over 8 glasses a day would help?

Forgot to post yesterday. I was back up 1.4 lbs to 163.4. Hoping it is just retained water, since I did have ham (lower-sodium type, but still) on Sunday.

Steps: ave. 8329 daily. Goal was 8000 daily.

Calories: Burned 1004 daily from exercise. Goal 889 daily
Calorie Deficit: 574 daily Goal 500 daily

I want my lost pound!!!

This week's goals: 8500 steps daily 904 activity calories burned 500 calorie deficit daily

Hope you're doing OK, Amy!

Today's weigh-in 162.00 down 1.8 lb. Yippee! I joined Fitbit's Premium service, which has a "trainer" - it seems to be helping me ensure that I burn more than I take in.

I only averaged 7399 steps daily, though - below my 7500 step daily goal. I spent quite a bit of time with my 86-yr-old mom last week, who isn't up to walking very far or very fast... I hope I can get back on track this week.

I weighed in yesterday, 194.4. Up since last weigh in but last week I took off from exercise because I had an abnormal EKG. I am fighting with my insurance company. My doctor wantse to have a nuclear stress test but the insurance denied it. I started back exercising on Sunday with 30 mins. Cardio, 45 mins ST. Monday 45 mins treadmill.

Lost another 2.5 pounds! I now weight 180 1/2 pounds. 1/2 pounds away from my second goal!! Blood sugars have been between 80-90. I have been doing either 120 to 150 minutes of exercise per day. I have also been walking either 2 to 3 miles per day!!

My hubby and I started the Reboot Program which involves plant based meals....juicing the vegetables and fruits...and staying away from animal based products. This is our 2 week so far. He lost 11lbs and I lost 7 lbs the first week......so that is what we are trying now.

Is there anyone out there who would like a little accountability? I really need it. I want to lose 19 pounds by my anniversary 7/26, which would put me at a healthy BMI for the first time in years and years and years.

My thought was that we could post weekly here - weigh-in (either current weight or pounds gained or lost since the previous weigh-in) and hours spent exercising during the week.

Thinking about using Thursdays as report day, but that is flexible.

Anyone?
