magiko, where do you get your eye exercise info ? I to have dark circles and I have puffiness as well. I know witch hazel works, just soak a cotton ball and lie down 20 minutes its really good for the puffy eye as well..I also tried to scrape a potato and that works as well....

My 25 yr old daughter has really bad dark circles. Altho the dark circles do run in my family, hers really are pretty bad if she doesnt cover them with makeup. Sometimes, both her eyes have actually looked like "raccoon eyes" or as if she had been punched in both eyes. The darkness also sometimes goes up and over her upper eye lids too and is a brownish/greyish (not reddish) colour. She has tried I dont know how many things, and supplements (incl. Vit.K) and nothing works. Sometimes they can be so dark even the makeup she uses doesnt quite conceal they....and she's become pretty good at concealing them!

She is fair skinned, steel blue eyes, and was light blonde haired most of her life but is now going to a darker blonde, more like light brown hair. She's fairly watchful of what she eats (little to no junk food, little to no pop etc) but is beginning to show some signs of Crohn's Disease (which I have) and/or IBS...undiagnosed as yet....both of which do run in my family.

Any ideas on what she can try to do??

Thanks.

Thanks Patience! My boyfriend was telling about using sunscreen as well. I use Olay's moisturizer with SPF in it...I know what a facial moisturizer, you really need to be careful around the eyes bc sometimes over moisturizing will cause those little white bumps.

I am Italian so even though I have olive skin, I am more fair than olive. I will try Olay's Regenerist. I love their products. I will keep you posted.

My circles are definitely blue/purple, not brown/red. Let me know if you need any other information.

The more dark/olive your complexion is the greater the chance that it is pigmentation related. Blood is obviously going to be more of a blue/purple under eye circle where as hyperpigmentation is going to be brown/red. If it's pigmentation related that is no problem to fix. Using an eye cream with AHA's or retinol can help with that in a jiffy. Just be careful if you have sensitive eyes as this can make them red and itchy, so you can use it evey other day. I think the olay regenerist and ROC products are both good ones that you can find at the drugstore. Olay has AHA's and ROC has retinol. If you still think it's blood related, tell me a little bit about your diet, skin care routine, or anything that has changed since you have started to have the problem? I forgot to mention to use an eyecream with a sunscreen in it during the day or a concealer during this process and only use the retinol at night. I like bare minerals concealer. This is important and most people don't realize that using agressive ingredients can really photosensitize your skin to the sun and actually cause more of the damage that you are trying to correct.

Wow Patience, thanks!

I am not constipated nor am I on any medicines, I don't have any allergies and I don't recall seeing any of my relatives with them. I get plenty of sleep so not 100% what my problem is. I think mine are more pigmentation but feel free to tell me the difference. You can either post it here or message me, I don't mind.

As an esthetician for the past 10 years I get this question a lot. It can be do to allergies yes, It can also be due to stagnant digestion. As well as a mineral deficiancy. I know this is an odd question but are you consipated? If so a colonic could help, the blockage may be causing you to not absorb nutrients and there in causing the dark circles. It could also be genitic which is never fun to hear. Also there are usually two kinds of dark circles. Stagnant blood and pigmentation. I could go on for hours. I tend to use more natural products but there is a product by DermaE which is the Dark Circle Eye Cream with vit k, it's inexpensive and I think it works. Eye creams with caffeine are good too because they help with lymph drainage and help move stagnation. Certain medications can cause dark circles too, most are related to the side effect of constipation. Some meds are pain killers, sleeping pills, and anti depression meds. Feel free to message me with any questions.

Dark circles can be caused by pollen allergies, too.

Magic it's more like art.
Start with an undereye moisturiser, then an eye primer(use lightest shade for your skin tone).
Apply concealer with a brush ;use shade 2-3 shades lighter than your skin tone. Apply concealer heaviest in darkest region and blend outwards. Finally layer over with foundation, again using a brush.
You should be able to get a makeup rep at most beauty counters to do a free demo for you.
The MAC artist was really helpful.
If you can't get a demo then check makeup tutorials on you tube by michellphan.

SIUAN24 - other than dabbing and using your non-dominant ring finger, what is the trick?

I didnt know dark circles could be due to a food allergen, PERSEPHONEROSE thanks for that info! Even when I cut way back on sugar and carbs I still had them. I know my eyes are getting weaker with age and I heard that is partly to blame too.

Plain Yogurt-full fat works best- put it on your face and it tones and removes blemishes. Lemon juice dabbed in the yogurt works well too. Often dark circles are caused because of a food allergy-usually to sugars or carbs. Diet changes can have a huge impact, try eatting cleansing veggies like wheat grass or other leafy veggies. Hope this helps ;-)

Unfortunately i've never found a dk circle minimiser which worked 4 me.
I try to sleep at least 6 hrs a nite and drink more water. And i really rely on a good undereye moisturiser (neutrogena) and concealer. I had a makeup artist at mac demonstrate how to hide them.

Here is a good link for some info on natural solutions, I tend to not use anything that is chemical. Remember 60% of what we put on our bodies is absorbed! This article also talks about the reasons you might have dark circles.

thanks! Lucikly I don't have puffiness, just the circles.

When I was a Mary Kay rep I used their dark circles diminisher and honestly I don't know if it truly worked or if it was one of those mind-over-matter things but maybe the Avon would work. I will try the green tea bags for now and see how that goes.

try cool green tea bags. Also, I have a Garnier skin renewal roller that helps with puffiness, but if you keep it cool, like in the fridge, it could help with the dark circles

Hi
I have that same problem. When I haven't slept well my dark circles ( and eye bags ) really show. I do use an eye gel and a cream from Avon that work pretty well. "Solutions Plus Total Radiance" eye gel and "Anew Rejuvenate" for day and night. I don't think there is a perfect solution but these products will help.
Blessings

Does anyone have a product/method something that would diminish dark circles? I am currently doing eye exercises bc I heard that may help.
