I own all of the Almay eyeshadows for blue eyes and love them all. I have a plethora of eyeshadow ranging from high end to drug store, and I usually get the very most compliments when wearing the Almay. Have fun! emoticon

there is an Avon video on youtube.com that tells you have to do the perfect smokey eye.

I hardly ever take the time for eye shadow but my so beautiful daughter does. She just ordered the SmokyEye palette from Avon. She loves it and learned more about applying it from the Avon site - lots of "how-to's". I hate to say this after writing all this but it is all true and I never would have posted this if I hadn't seen y'all discussing this. You see, I do sell Avon but that is not the reason for the post. Just FYI for anyone wanting great Smoky Eye quad palette at good prices - online or delivered to you. Ask around, you will probably find someone who sells it close to you.

I've got the Almay smokey eye palette that was discussed and it is really good. They make different ones for your eyecolour and it comes with a guide of where to put everything on your eye. The look is really amazing & it's super-cheap. Mine came with a free eye pencil so I was really pleased.

Try Kleancolor shadow palettes ranging from 1 - 5US dollars. The colours are really pretty and shimmery. Can also try Elf makeup line @ Elf.com. Prices as low as 1US.
4 smokey eyes and all things makeup go to youtube.
Check out misschievous , michelle phan and makeupgeek tutorials. I absolutely love misschievous. 4 the 1st time i've been able 2 line my eyes, do my own eyebrows and apply really dramatic makeup.

I go to YouTube and learn from the makeup gurus. Find makeupgeek or vintageortacky. They're really good!

Oh, just for the record, I think wearing the same eye shadow 2 days in a row, is like wearing the same clothes 2 days in a row! As well as my hair, I HAVE to wear it different...do you think I have OCD?

I'm a drama queen, but a soft smokey eye for day is really pretty. I think that you can pull anything off you want. If you feel good a certain way, then do it! I was addicted to liquid liner and bright red lipstick for years. Even having to be at work at 4am as a cake decorator I'd have a full 1940s inspired face. One day, I just stopped. Now I do something different every day. I just a creamy eyeshadow kit over Christmas. We were in Nebraska and there is a store called Gordman's there that has amazing prices. For $5 I have a fantastic pallet with 25 different shades - shades that I'd never think to try. But it is small and I didn't feel like $5 was a huge financial commitment, and I have worn a new color or color combo every day since Christmas. Almay makes a nice smokey eye kit for your specific eye color. I haven't tried it, but, nearly everyone I compliment tells me that is what they have on. I have a brush that is actually a blender brush - the key to shading is to blend, blend, blend. And just using two shades is enough when it is buildable color. I love to watch make-up how to vidoes. Lancome has some. It is a young Asian girl. She posted videos herself and had a huge following - Lancome eventually picked her up, since so much of what she did was with their makeup. She is pretty young (high school, maybe) but, she does a great job. I've learned a fair amount from her! (but not as much as from my opera singer friend who is a drag queen on the side - he taught me some great tricks!) Do what makes you feel good, that's what I say!

I LOVE playing with make up & eye shadow, but haven't really done the smokey, because I really think it's an look that you need to wear in the evening & the right event.
I did see a really cool picture in an ad of a blue eye shadow, on blue eyes, with the darkest shade on the inside of the eyelide, by the nose & getting lighter as you go out! It's SO oposite of what we are told, but when I tried it...it really brought out the blue in my eyes! Ofcourse, again, something I would do for a night out, definately not work or daytime!

It's so funny that you are talking about smokey eyes. I have always wanted to work on that. I have hazel/green eyes, blonde hair and fair skin. I know that plum colours look good, purples, burgundy's but I really have no idea how to work this into a smokey eye. If anyone has any suggestions, I would be most grateful... Thanks!

What color are your eyes? This might sound lame, but I go through magazines and yank out photos of ladies makeup (who have my coloring) that I like and use it for inspiration. Have you tried the (newish) two-ended cream sticks that Covergirl put out? I would say to give them a whirl. I think that it is better to start with a creamy shadow as you start to get your groove, and build the color. You may find that shades of gray or taupes give you a really great smokey look, and that you don't have to go right to black and blacker. For me, I have really pale skin and dark eyes and hair - the best smokey look for me is in shimmery blue-gray hues. Never would have thought to buy it but I love playing with online make-over sites and trying on make-up. I have yet to be disappointed when I do it in advance. I really try things that way that I wouldn;'t want to spend money on otherwise. Let me know if you want more ideas. Have fun!
