Love that all you Ladies Enjoyed our Spring into Spring challenge!

I love the idea of another short term goal challenge and second the April fools (AllieCat's 10th anniversary) challenge! I think we should add a drinking H2O component as it was mentioned by more then one of you. Again, lets start small and build I'm thinking 6 glasses (1 glass = 1 cup/250ml) a day? I'll write up the new challenge and send out the email in a bit, so give me your feed back and I'll adjust.

For those of you interested, below are my final results... not quite on target, but better then I was doing! :)

My starting point was 193 Lbs, my goal was to have a deficit of 300 calories each day and do an average 30 Minutes of cardio a day.

I'm now 192 LBS and I made my goal of doing an average of 30 minutes of cardio but not my caloric goal... I was short by an average of 100 cal. See below:

March 8th - 43 minutes of walking (-25.4 cal)
March 9th - 15 minute walk plank 15 seconds (-488.4 cal)
March 10th - 15 minute walk Plank 15 seconds (+104.4 cal)
March 11th - 68 minutes of walking (+42.3 cal)
March 12th - (My Birthday!) 55 minute spin class and 52 minutes of walking (good thing, Yimmy made me a great dessert, but dang... 850 calories! YIKES!) (-35.5 cal)
March 13th - walked for 78 minutes (+42.1 cal)
March 14th - walked 80 minutes and 60 minutes of spinning (best class yet!) (-1102.5cal)
March 15th - walked 43 minutes and spun 45 minutes (-435.4 cal)
March 16th - Walked 43 minutes (-88.3 cal)
March 17th - no significant physical activity (-23.8cal)
March 18th - walked 44 minutes (-228.1 cal)
March 19th - walked 47 minutes (-139.1 cal)
March 20th (LAST DAY!) - walked 51 minutes (-650.4 cal)

Average Caloric deficit -210.20 calories per day. Sooooo close, drat.

I think we kicked butt. I feel much better than I have been feeling so I must be doing something right!

My goal over this next challenge block is to increase by 10... be it ten more minutes on a walk, 10 more reps with my weights, 10 more squats, 10 more crunches, 10 more seconds on each ab workout (making it 7 minutes). Whatever I get around to doing that day, I'll push myself to go another 10. I think 10 is doable. ALSO April 2nd is my 10yr wedding anniversary and I want to continue to look and feel good :) Oh and I need to drink my 10 glasses of stupid water too :P

I am going to do this from now until the start of April (little over 10 days). I assume Easter will present some challenges, but the weather has been improving for the most part and I just found some more amazing parks so I'm very optimistic!

Last day. Ending status: active every day but one, much less depressed (but that probably has more to do with the extra daylight than the exercise) and a little dehydrated. I need to work on that! I liked that the goal was to beactive every day. I usually strive for every other but sometimes that slips to every third.... By trying to get out every day it hurts less when I skip a day. I'm also exhausted and should probably work on getting to bed a little earlier and watching to make sure I'm getting my fluids and eating right, especially at lunch when I'm alone and the temptation to skip eating something healthy has been very powerful lately.

Last three days
March 18 60 min zumba
March 19 50 min walking 2.5 miles and picking up trash (I've made it my personal mission to try to get the plastic bags that I can reach out of the lake I walk around now that the turtles are appearing again.)
March 20 40 min walking 2.4 miles plus some squats and pushups.

Great Attitude!

Remember even those couple of days were better then nothing. And as was said to me earlier, even the smallest things can count, like a deep cleaning of the house.

Keep working at it!

Now I have to think of what our next challenge should be! Yikes! Any suggestions from you ladies?

Yeah, so I totally failed at this challenge. I worked out a few times but nowhere near the 12 days I needed to.
I'm ready for the next challenge. Never give up, right?

What Great motivation AllieCat!
Indeed every little bit counts! On the one day I logged no activity, it was due to a MAJOR migraine... I assume laying in a dark room wimpering doesn't count, but I've made it up on days that I was active more then my goal. I hope with my spinning today and my short little walks I can reach my personal goal of having a -300 cal average daily deficit for this challenge time. We've all worked so hard, and done so well I sent you all a tiny thank you... I tried to pick goodies you all would like and I hope you do! Only two more days for the challenge... then a new one will be on the way!

How are you doing? Your goal was to be active every day, right? How is that working out for you? Remember every little bit counts! Deep cleaning a house, hauling laundry up the stairs, doing 5 squats in the shower. Doesn't matter how tiny the victories are, they are VICTORIES! Just wanted you to know I'm thinking of you and cheering for you! :)

Well my lady sparks, I see you're kicking a$$! I have been doing pretty well myself. Every day I get at least 50 squats in. Yesterday I did 25 curls, 25 side bends, and 25 arm raises all with my 10lb weights. I JOGGED in the rain... for a mile the day before that :O I haven't jogged in over a year and was surprised at how good it felt, even the following day I had no pain. That must mean I have to jog faster and farther ;) No pain, no gain! The day before that I speed walked with the dogs for 2 miles. They were thrilled. Now the weather has crapped out again so I've been doing more exercising indoors, which means less cardio for me.

I've added weight, but I'm not worried about it. I'm just going to stop eating that second plate of food, cut down on my coffee, and drink water again and it'll go away. I'm weak, what can I say.

Hooray for walking with minimal pain! I'm really hoping slightly warmer and clearer days will arrive soon. Although as long as it is sunny I'll walk if the temps are anywhere around and above freezing.

Progress update
March 14 45 min Tae Kwon Do (last class for a while so we'll see how I do on my own)
March 15 50 min walking and picking up trash (squats!) 2.6 miles
March 16 60 min zumba (also my last scheduled class in this for the spring so hoping I'm not in trouble going it on my own)
March 17 nada (I knew I probably wouldn't get anything in today so I'm OK with this - really busy day so busy we had to fit in our family dinner of corned beef at 4. Thank goodness for the crock pot or we would never have even managed this.)

What a day yesterday! I did spining and walked for just over 3.5 miles. My foot is a bit sore today but not as bad as I thought it'd be.
I pushed my average caloric deficit up from -60 a day to -209 a day and I'm finally heading towards my goal! I'll need a great day today as well because my sweetie is taking me to see a hockey game on Saturday and he said if I'd been good enough we could go for NACHO'S! Woot woot!
Breakfast consists of holy crap and cream. Yummy!
How's all my favourite Sparkles doing?

Walking is my favourite activity, and it's killing me that I can't do alot of it right now. I still get my 2 or three miles of daily walking on my podometer, but without my nightly walks I'm missing half or more of my usual movement. If you have bikes, that would be a fun way to get out with the whole family too! :)

Once I get through the first couple of week or so, I can't wait to go workout. My parents were/are early risers and it rubbed off on me. It used to be that if I had to get up before 5am to workout, then it didn't happen. Yep, those were some of the hours I used to work. Of course, that's when all I had to do was walk into the living room and pop in a dvd to workout, too. emoticon

I'm not an early riser by nature either. My favorite class at the gym starts at 8pm. That's when I like to exercise. Tae Kwon Do has been a nice change of pace. Much more fun than the boot camp class I did last year. But our family will be putting the martial arts on hold after this week so the kids can concentrate on their spring sports. We needed something active to do this winter. We plan to pick up Tae Kwon Do again this summer. I plan to do a lot of walking this spring. And walking costs much less than the formal classes too so maybe a little break for the wallet.

Good work! I can never make myself get up any earlier then I do to work out. That's why I go at lunch or right after work. Most days I don't have the motivation to leave my bed for work, let alone anything more taxing. You're doing great! emoticon

It's dark and cold at 6am, but I managed to get myself out of bed and moving. I had a nice workout. I totally spaced on Tuesday. I was up too late on Monday night and getting out of bed when the alarm went off wasn't going to happen. I managed to talk myself out of going to the gym after my son's speech appointment. I shouldn't have, but I did. Thus, the early morning workout. I'm usually up and moving before my brain has engaged.

Happy birthday! Although I think I'm a day late.... glad to see us all getting moving. Spring is a great time to get started. And Allie I love your comment about only fighting with your mom once! Good for you! Sometimes I have a hard time keeping my tongue under control when I spend a lot of time with mine too.

Haven't checked in in a couple of days so here's my update.
March 11 60 min zumba
March 12 45 min Tae Kwon Do
March 13 90 min yoga (which I went to even though I didn't feel like leaving my house. So hard to get motivated some days but now I'm glad I went.)

Hey Everyone! Sorry I had to drop off there for a few days. It's been a crazy weekend filled with emotions and scary things... emoticon
My Gradfather went back into the hospital, I had a very scary and emotional dinner with six of my husbands colleagues and my mother laid some massive guil tripping on me, add the time change and I was not in a good mind frame.

HOWEVER, look at all of you! Great to hear it's just the winter blues, you'll be feeling better any day now with Spring almost here.
Wedding showers are so much fun, and you should most definately add the set up and break down time... That stuff is hard work!

Keep it up everyone! We're going to do this!

Hey everyone! I just got back from a 6hr roadtrip with my 3 boys for a wedding shower. I actually went on a walk and I am totally counting all the tables and chairs I lifted when the party was over as strength training ;) haha. I drank my water AND I got remeasured for my bridesmaid dress and I dropped down 2 sizes since October. WOOOO! So, since I already got past that goal I am just going to make my new goal to be active for at least 30 minutes every day because I SHOULD! :) I also had some great conversations with my family and only fought with my mother one time :O lol. Good to see everyone!!

It was in the 60's today and the sun was out. Spring is almost here! Thank God!

I don't think my wintertime blues are all that serious. More like 3/4 of the year you can find me in a happy place and it takes a lot to get me down but it's the reverse in winter. I can be happy in the winter but I really have to work hard at it each and every day. Over the years I have developed a lot of strategies to deal but let's just say I am REALLY happy February does not happen again for another 11 months. So far I'm three for three on the exercising.

Mar 8 2.4 miles outside walk about 45 mins
Mar 9 60 min zumba
Mar 10 2.4 miles walk took 90 minutes because the kids were with me and we played and picked up trash. No speed records today.

I've been over the cold for some time now. emoticon It totally threw me off my exercise schedule. December wasn't a fine month and it's taken me this long to get it in gear. emoticon I'm glad I came and found the challenge. I was just thinking a little challenge would help me get moving. emoticon

I forget how I stumbled upon it, but I found this Plank A Day revolution. It sounded easy and fun. A way to work my core without overloading myself with strength training while I was still getting cardio on track. http://www.fudiet.com/plank-a-day-revoluti

Hi MaryOh!
Depression is a tricky issue. Even if its due to SAD's. I know that vitamin D can really help, but when I get the winter blues I crack out the sun lamp. Even a short tanning session (with ample SPF of course) can help. I hope that it's not more serious then some sunlight and cardio high can fix, but even if it is we're here to support you! emoticon

My starting point is ??? Lbs (I haven't weighed myself since I got the plague), my goal for the next 12 days is to get in 30 mins of cardio 4 times a week.

I got 6 week long chest cold thing that completely interrupted my exercise routine. I'm feeling bad about myself and just ugh. I miss my "therapy" time at the gym. I miss my music that I can listen to. I miss seeing progress in doing my daily planks. I want this to be a nice kick in the tush.

OK - starting point is a little depressed and anxious (I think it's the lack of light in winter and some stress I've been having in my life lately) but relatively active. Since I feel better when I exercise I'm in with the 30 minutes a day challenge. I read my email and hauled myself out for a walk today before checking in so I'm off to a good start!

This is great! I love it!

My starting point is feeling weak, depressed, and jiggly. My goal for the next 12 days is to exercise for at least 30 minutes each day to increase my energy and endorphins and re-tone my poor floppy body.

Good Morning to all you mommies! emoticon

It just occurred to me that the first day of spring is just a short 12 days away! That's March 20th. In light of this I hoped we could all ban together for the next two weeks and do a Spring into Shape Fitness Challenge to prepare us for the up coming season.

If you're all like me the Halloween to Christmas Death Spiral didn't just throw you off till Christmas, but continued to plague you to this day. So let start small and try to find just 30 minutes a day for some cardio fitness. Or any other Challenge you feel like! You can copy and paste my standard form below, and edit your entry on a daily basis to show your progress. Add or remove as much info as you want!

My starting point is --- Lbs, my goal for the next 12 days is to ---- each day.
