Week 2, so far good.

With God all things are possible.
Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass;
It's about learning to dance in the rain.

I'm not sure what happened to my post. I couldn't edit, I tried earlier, and it allowed me, but now it's not there so I don't know.

I was successful this week in exercising everyday for at least 10 minutes. Next week, I hope to get it up to 20 minutes every day.

Portion sizes are always a challenge for me. For one thing I am very busy and have to eat out a lot.

Good challenge. . It's mid-week. Better that I don't step in at this late date. I will make commitment to myself to drink water.

IKacey - if you ever find a good diet that suits both of your conditions, please, please, please let me know. I have a heart condition as well as Type II Diabetes requiring one kind of diet and Crohn's Disease requiring another. Well actually, when Crohn's isn't active supposed to eat very healthy but that is seldom and what is good for the first 2 hurts the second and vice versa.

Wk1 Goal: Sticking within my nutrient ranges for fiber and fats, as I have two opposing medical conditions Diabetes type2 and Gastroparesis that make this tricky. I am supposed to eat up to 22 grams of Fiber for the Diabetes sugar control and good fullness and health reasons. But the GP causes me to need less fiber and a low residue diet so my food doesn't get paralyzed in my intestines. For that I need up 15 grams a day. I am going to have to work at it to get enough other nutrients and still not eat to much fiber. I will be doing research on this as I go.
The Fats, expecially saturated fats have been gradually going back up, and this too slows down how fast I digest food and clear out my system. So I need to pay more attention to my fat grams, particularly the saturated fat grams as they also affect my sugar levels for the diabetes.

Week 1 I want to try and stick to my meal plans for the week and be extra vigilant with sodium consumption until I can go back on a regular dose of water pills meds - I see the specialist on Wed. so I'm hoping I can go back on all my heart and all my Diabetes meds - just in lower doses than I was on before this last weight loss. I was over medicated after losing about 17 lbs. and my kidneys decided they'd had enough of that and I had to go off my meds. I've now lost about 27 lbs and I only seem to be able to handle 200-300 mg of sodium a day without them - really hard to get enough cals in with that but if I stick to my plan it should work. Saw the specialist and he's very pleased with my progress and restarted some of my meds on lower doses. Hopefully the HF will end with the meds and we can get back on track - doing the happy dance! Yesterday also had good news - my 3 month A1C Diabetes check was down to 5.4 - that's really big!
Week 1 - sticking to meal plans with very low sodium intake - all meals homemade so far this
week with low sodium intake - Sun 417 mg, Mon 1053, Tue 426, and Wed 557 - all
below goal of 1200 mg.- then Thurs and Fri blew it with 2047 and 2245 eating a meal
out both days
Week 2 -
Week 3 -
Week 4 -
Week 5 -

Last week was my birthday, and along with eating cake and ice cream I just didn't want to exercise. This week I am going to do at least 10 minutes of exercise everyday and join the 5 or 10 minutes challenge again!

It is now Saturday the 10th and I have exercised at least 10 minutes everyday!

I have gotten lazy about measuring my portions. I have been "eyeballing" them. I believe I have been having portion size creep and inadvertently increasing my daily calorie intake. For week 1 I am going to measure every thing I eat at home.

okay, my one step this week is counting my carbs......according to the nutritionist, I need to keep it between 120 -- 150 and hopefully closer to 120. While I do fairly well, keeping it to 150, it is much more difficult to keep at 120 or close, so that is going to be what I a,m going to focus on for this challenge -- to get it closer to 120 carbs a day.

Week 1 - I am going to track everything I eat and stay within my calorie range. I am starting here because it is too easy for me to mindlessly pop things into my mouth without thinking of the long term consequences. Tracking keeps me accountable and in control.

Aug.4 emoticon
Aug. 5 emoticon
Aug. 6 emoticon
Aug. 7 I did track, but today was my anniversary and we ate out at lunch and dinner. The Godiva Chocolate Cheesecake at lunch, and the Heath bar at the movie put me way over at 2474 for the day. On the bright side I did get in 8151 steps today.
Aug. 8 Not so great today. I ate cheese crackers out of the box and stole some of my grandson's sour patch kids as well as making the cole slaw without measuring the mayo. I will do better tomorrow.
Aug. 9 Another bad day. Grandson over all day and wanted to spend the night so we ordered pizza so I know I am over on calories for the day.
Aug. 10 Last day with grandson. Tomorrow is a new start so I will tackle tracking again and add exercise.

Getting back on track challenge
This challenge will run for 4 weeks – August 4th – 31st in total - each week I will give you a neew task aimed at getting back on track!!

I often see in messages members saying – “I need to get back on track” so let’s make a start at doing this
I will give you a new task each week for the 4 weeks

For WEEK 1 - I want you to decide on ONE step that you need to take on your steps back on track
In this thread – name that ONE step and discuss your reasons for choosing what you chose and then each day update your message to tell us how you went, and how you feel about doing or not doing that step!!
WE can do this!! Let’s all get back on track!! Healthy living here we come!!
