great job ladies. its nice to see some loss.
kids are finally all healthy- but both teething and over tired. in-laws were visitng last week and messed up normal sleep patterns.
but made it to gym this morning and that felt great! hoping to get back on track.

I posted an update in the general team discussion - thanks for asking! I feel so bad that your kids have been sick a lot lately. Lillian had diarrhea at the beginning of the week and it was rough trying to flex my work schedule and see if my mom could watch her. Sick kids throw a wrench in everything - especially working out and eating right! I hope your boys are better now. Let's hope for a healthy spring!

Jamie- wow thats great.
kids were both horribly sick last week- thought we were almost clear and now ethan gets croup too. and now douglas' wrist is hurt. its been an awful couple of weeks. as soon as the kids get better, i will weigh in and get seriously cracking.

Hi Girlies! I just wanted to check in and let you know that I will not be weighing in for a while. My Grandma was put on home hospice care today and I am not dealing with all of these emotions very well. Sadly, I have been eating my share of bad foods. This is something that I hope to address in the near future, after everything has calmed down. One thing is for sure: I need to get my health in order, as I do not want to have to deal with congestive heart failure someday. It is so painful to watch someone die from it. I hope everyone is doing well. Hugs to y'all and keep on' truckin!

Jamie- very sorry the scale is not cooperating. it can drive you nuts. hope you have a better week!

i didn't even weigh in this week.scared to even look. week started off OK but ethan was still having tummy issues and douglas is potty training so i decided to hold off on gym another couple days. then he was up in night a bunch which makes me SO tired. then valentines day and i had to make a big batch of food for bday party. anyway, no excuses- just explanations. we went this morning and had a great workout. ethans back to normal and even slept last night. BUT we leave for trip to TX with boys and my mom (husband is staying here to work) so i know that i won't be able to work out or eat properly. i will try to do the best i can. sometimes being away from home helps me do better with my eating anyway.

Jewls sorry to hear about your grandmother, my grandmother is the type too and i know it's going to be really hard when i loose her. my thoughts are with you.

Lori your weight loss is a coming along great!! nice and steady congrats keep it up!!

Abigal I hope that Ethan is feeling better by now it's awful when our kiddos are sick.

Last week few by for me I'm not sure where i lost the week to but i feels like i did. I gained yet another pound. But i did get in a good 45 min on the treadmill yesterday as an effort to get back on track. This week i promise myself that i will make a valiant effort to get some exercise.

so sorry to hear about your grandma :( thats so hard to watch. glad she has lived such a great life. i lost my last grandmother a few years back and she was 94. hard to see them go. glad you are getting to see her though. so glad your husband is ready to make some changes. we do the best work when we work together on eating well. that support is very helpful.
ethan has constant diarrhea and threw up again last night so i am afraid i am going to miss a few more days at the gym. had a rough day yesterday feeling just draining, achy and skin hurting. had a good workout though. got a bit more sleep than usual last night. rough morning with kiddos screaming and crying a lot. hope day gets better.

Wow. The good news is that hubby is finally on board in hopes of lowering his triglycerides which are really high. I hope we can stick with it. The bad news is that last week was a rough week and I didn't eat well or exercise. My Grandma was in the hospital with congestive heart failure last week and her heart is functioning at 13%. She is still having a rough time, so we'll see if she is able to bounce back this time or not. Even though she is 92 and has lived a very blessed life, seeing her sick doesn't make it any easier. She is still there 100% mentally. She is a story-book Grandma. Always remembers birthdays, played games with us as kids, baked cookies, and made us feel very special.

Jamie, I agree with Abigail, doing a crazy diet would just put you in a worse place. Last night I baked some chicken breast, cooked some Minute brown rice, and threw some broccoli in the microwave. It took about 30 minutes. It wasn't anything fancy, but it did taste pretty good. Just keep looking around for easy recipes. Tuna fish is also easy if you like that. You could get some low carb tortillas and make tuna wraps. Don't get discouraged.

Katie, don't be too hard on yourself. Give yourself time to adjust and I hope your darn allergies go away soon!

Jamie. so sorry you are having such a hard time. i couldn't stick with one of those diets either. i want my food to taste good. you are right in some ways- your tastebuds do adjust to eating healthier food but you don't need to torture yourself.
have you tried looking at websites like www.skinnytaste.com? they are full recipes with several ingredients but they are healthy and the ones i have tried are so yummy. another option is to make a super simple plan for dinner like sauted chicken breasts, brown rice, and steamed broccoli. all will taste great but not require any complicated planning or cooking.
i am REALLY bad about not planning meals for the week out but when i do, it makes my days so much less stressful. then we just have leftovers for lunch next day.
i think starting small makes it less overwhelming so its really good that you have stuck to your goals of no soda and no fast food. those are HUGE ones. make another small goal- maybe more veggies or trying one new recipe per week just to help you get more comfortable?
i love cooking so that helps me but i love making yummy food which can be bad too!

i've been super sick with a cold all week and we have eaten crap. I'm just glad i'm still sticking to no fast food and soda. I'm upset that my weight is going back up though, it seems like my body lost some but now has gotten used to not eating fast food and wants me to work much harder to loose. I'm not sure what i really expected. I wish i could do this diet that my mom is on almost 80lbs in under a year and still going with really no exercise. the food just taste soo bad to me and i know after eating a bunch you get use to it and that becomes the new norm but i just can't get use to it. How long am i going to let myself go like i have?? How long am i going to let food be more important then how i feel about myself?? to think that if i just stuck to it in 4 months i could be in such a better place. last time i tried it i just tried one meal a day but didn't make it through the week. It's probably one of those things that just doesn't work unless you go all the way.

the problem is....
i'm a two ingredient 4 steps kinda cook and even that's pretty new. all the things that i would have to make have a gazzlin ingredients and steps. and i could handle that... what i can't handle is shopping for it. i know that's ridiculous, but it's just really over whelming for some reason.

I've decided that i have a detrimental fear of grocery shopping. It's completely illogical, yet very real.

now that I've come to terms with that i need to figure it out.

i did and i am happy with that small loss especially b/c i only got to the gym on monday- the boys got stomach virus which messed up the mid/end of the week. tracked food for 4 days. hoping next week will be even better.

glad you are feeling better.

starting back to tracking calories this week and back to gym- boys are finally both not sick!
shocked myself by taking measurements for first time in like 2 yrs. very scary.

It is so hard but it is a journey. Even though you guys are talking about not being motivated, you are still posting on here which means that weight loss still is in your brain and you are checking in even if you aren't able to do much else.

Last night Arianna and I went over to my sister's for a slumber party. I'd had a rough day with my mom and was feeling super emotional and therefore wanted to eat. My sister said "well it is a slumber party... emoticon " and we proceeded to fill a shopping cart with some food. After we had pigged out I was feeling frustrated at myself but my sister pointed out how different our "slumber party food" was. Just three years ago she reminded me that we had a slumber party with frozen pizza, nachos, icecream sundaes, soda, and candy. THIS time we had homemade tortilla chips out of cut up corn tortillas, black bean dip, and cookie butter (amazing stuff from Trader Joes that DEFINITELY isn't healthy) on celery and apples. Yeah, we had already eaten our dinner and it was not food that we needed but it was SOOOO much healthier than we had done in the past. Even though it wasn't a HEALTHY choice, it was a healthIER choice!

It is a journey and all of the changes that you have made (you guys' streaks: no soda, no fast food, etc.) are making a small difference. You ARE different now even if the scale isn't showing it because you are thinking about these choices and worried about it. Life goes in these weird ups and downs and maybe you are in a down but that means that an UP has to come soon! The weight loss will come slowly but surely. You guys have come far!

ladies, it is SO hard being a mom and then trying to focus on something like losing weight. i feel like i am being pulled in 50 directions and have no energy or focus left for that :(
after the room change, messed up sleep, now both boys have bad colds. finally had a decent night last night but can't take them out in cold weather and can't leave them at gym day care cause they are sick. i haven't even weighed myself. too afraid :( not eating too bad but not great either- but haven't gotten any exercise in like 2 weeks.

Jamie, you said it so well. I have been so stressed out off an on the past few months with a sick kid and figuring out how to juggle everything. I am exhausted...too tired to work out and fuel my body correctly. I need to get out of this funk too!

up two pounds. i didn't exercise at all and i eat crap. i failed at staying on track when stressed out. knowing all this i still have seemed to have lost all motivation to try and loose weight. Which i know is ridiculous because i was doing really well. i just want to eat and sleep through the winter, and usually when i feel like that it means i haven't been outside enough so i guess i need to start planing for and outdoor adventure soon. we'll see how this week goes. My goal for this week is to just not gain any weight i would be fine with maintaining until i get out of this funk.

OK so I bit the bullet and got a new scale that actually works and matches the dr.'s office. there was a 8lb difference between my old scale and my new scale so I'm going to change my numbers on this list so it wont look like i just gained a bunch. lol

now there's some big jumps in there which i don't understand at all because i'm really not trying that hard this time around. Last spring/early summer when i was running i wasn't loosing like this. I don't really understand, the only thing i can think of is that the DEPO shot i was on really did have an effect on me gaining a bunch of weight/not letting me loose it. Which a lot of people complain about and it makes sense because if i really was at 238 that was more then i was at 42 weeks pregnant (236) and at my two week apt i was down to 203 so that means in the last two years (since I've been on the DEPO shot i gained 35lbs. That's crazy!!! this didn't occur to me until today.

i was going to weigh in yesterday and today BUT both were bad nights with douglas waking up and staying awake a long time. i refuse to weigh in after bad nights b/c for some reason crappy sleep for me always means a bad weight :)
hopefully tonight will be better!

I did not get a chance to weigh in this morning. I didn't sleep in the master bedroom last night due to hubby being sick so I did not have access to the scale this morning.

The stress of a sick hubby and daughter has totally derailed me. I think I will be in denial until next weekend.

great job ladies!
i have been doing just "OK" on my eating. but got in 3 workouts so that was good. this week, i need to focus on eating better.
