There is nothing funnier - nor more stupid, than the "general public". Wouldn't it be more correct to call them the "private public"? Most of them will never be promoted above corporal?
Just this morning at Rehab, I had the opportunity to make a correction of someone's "Press foot on gas pedal before ensuring the car is running".
As I was starting my exercise routine, I was told to "Say goodbye to Emily. This is her last day."
My instantaneous response?
"Oh my G*d! Emily? I didn't even know you were ill! If this were my last day, I certainly wouldn't be spending it at work!"
There was a distinct lack of sound - an absolute and total break in conversation, then everyone broke out laughing. Ta Duh! Not Ta da, ta duh.
EVERYONE saw the error in the sentence.
I am so glad I was there to help people communicate more clearly (somehow, I really don't think many of them will really "learn" - nor be able to put the lesson into use).
So, if this is now a weekly goal, you can put a "Gold Star" next to my name for this week.
