I love it! I am going to quote you on this if you don't mind!
Just a reminder too, when you buy canned and frozen fruits and veggies they are picked and processed at the peak of their freshness, so although not as fresh as the ones direct from the farmers market they are still a good choice!
I was inspired in Europe by all the women shopping for fresh veggies and fruits and whole foods with their woven baskets on their arm. Now I go to the farmers market with my basket and just for one minute I pretend I am in Europe again and it makes it a wonderful experience!
I love to shop fresh and I hope by now you have found your local market! I hope you are doing well, I see this post was in May so now it's August the Freggies s/b bountiful wherever you are! Ciao Bella!

This is the area my "diet" needs the most help in. I rarely ever get enough freggies. I don't like canned, I like only a few frozen varieties, but fresh tends to be more expensive. I just moved to a new city and I haven't found a farmers market yet, but I'll be looking for one. Gotta work on this!

This one is easy for me. About 1/2 my calories generally come from fruits and vegetables. I feel like I get so much more to eat when my plate is filled with veggies. That little 1/2 cup rice or pasta serving has a lot of calories and doesn't fill me up. emoticon

today:
breakfast: orange juice and an apple
lunch: mixed baby greens, purple onion, red bell pepper, plum tomato, carrots
dinner: I plan to have broccoli, cauliflower and spinach

yesterday:
breakfast: mushrooms (in my eggs) and an orange
lunch: yellow bell pepper, white onion, spinach, potato (does that count as veggie or starch.. or both?)
dinner: red bell pepper, carrots, cauliflower, red onion, baby greens, plum tomato

I also go way over thanks to smoothies. This morning I shared this smoothie with my husband... 3 cups mustard greens, 1 apple, 1/2 banana, 1 cup cranberries, 1 cup pineapple. So that's about 3 fruits and 3 veggies before 9 a.m.

MARGIE100%PURE: You are so right! That's why I do smoothies. Fiber wins the game!

I normally go way over 5 a day. More like 15! LOL I do a fruit/protein smoothie in the morning and I do a green smoothie for other parts of the day. Then I do 2 snacks that are fruit/nut/vegie based in different combinations and then a salad. Love to eat healthy!
