I realized yesterday that the SparkTeam totals are off for my exercise minutes. On Friday - because I was a bit possessed - I did 210 minutes but it only counted me for 120. Has anyone else had that problem or noticed that problem? Only reason I'm concerned is there is a lady on another team that has set me in her sights to pass me on exercise minutes. It's a tiny team and last week her and I were the only ones who posted minutes. But it's nice to be a motivation for someone! And I don't want her to pass me but I want the site to count all the minutes I log in correctly too. I e-mailed the site but haven't heard from them.

We still have about 4000 or so miles left on the 'Around the World' challenge so I'm going to keep it going, but will post a new challenge later today to work on at the same time since we seem to have lost most of our 'fliers'.

Yes, we are Debbie. I think I lost a bunch when I realized that I had added the miles wrong and had to take us back. We are almost to Sydney Aust. If we havn't made it back to North Platte by the end of the month, I may just scrap it and do something else. 2 months on any challenge is about enough.

Lisa - I'm loving my fitbit. It really is more motivating to make sure I get my steps in. The only thing is it doesn't seem to be counting the stairs right but I need to read up and find out how it counts the stairs. One day it had me climbing more, the next day I went up more than it gave me credit for. So I don't know if there has to be so many steps involved or what. I'm impressed that this little thing can keep track of so much. It tells miles walked, minutes active, etc. Yesterday I didn't put it on until late and when I pressed for it to come on there was a message that said "Walk Me Debbie". It cracked me up. So this might take the place of a pet - and it didn't even have to housebreak it!

Haven't taken the crochet class yet. I'm suppose to be on vacation the week after next, but I may postpone it for a couple of weeks - am waiting to see how the next week go and what my attitude is like. So am going to take a class the week I'm on vacation. They also have a cake decorating class I'd like to do but I'm afraid I'd be in the frosting too much!

How's your week going Lisa? I saw that you miscalculated the miles and that's quite ok. You're doing a great job just keeping track of everything! Let me know when we get closer to Australia so I can practice on my "g'day mates" greeting.

Debbie, how do you like you fitbit? It might be a good idea to measure your stride so that you're getting an accurate accounting.

Did you take the crochet classes? That sounds like fun!

I bought a fitbit at Target last night. Been messing with it this afternoon. I think I have my stride length too long in it. I read an article that said the average stride length for a woman is 2.2 feet. I'm about 1 feet 7 inches I think. LOL Maybe I need to take longer steps?

Lisa - things are back to normal for now. We will be having another audit next month probably but no where like this one was. The good thing was due to my people being proficient we helped pull the audit to a passing score! The bad thing was we were rewarded with food. I wanted cash to offset the extra 2.2% we're having to pay in taxes now.

I have an aunt that's a big quilter - she's 87 I think, and she works on a quilt every day. She always does one for the church auction down home. What kind are you making Lisa? Only thing I can do is start a knitting project. Have never learned out to "cast off!". But Michaels, the hobby store, is offering crocheting classes the next few weeks and I'm going to take one. Thought it'd be a good idea to keep my hands busy.

Lisa - my favorite fruit is apples. And oranges but I hate peeling them. Interesting article on apples though. I'll have to remember to eat my apples. Thanks for sharing.

We had a huge audit at work this past week and in 3 days I had 40 hours in for the week but unfortunately I didn't get to stop working for the rest of the week!

JUST A THOUGHT:

There was an article posted on one of my other teams called '5 Things You Didn't Know About Apples'. Here's one of them:

Apples help you make the most of your exercise because they contain a powerful little antioxidant called quercetin, which helps bring more oxygen to your lungs. As a result, you won’t get winded as quickly and can work out harder and longer with your increased endurance!

I found this really interesting because I often wonder why sometimes I feel so winded when on the elliptical but other times I'm just fine. I think there's something to this now because, after running out of apples last Wed., I have noticed having a lot of trouble breathing the last couple days during my workouts.

Thanks for the tip, MRSTETZLAFF. I'm actually thinking about a strap and a bolster. The strap looks doable, but the bolsters are really expensive. Maybe I'll just keep using folded blanket.
Hope everyone had a great weekend. Mine are always too short but I did meet my exercise and nutrition goals yesterday. I took a walk with the dog today, but it was really cold. Think I'll skip it tomorrow morning; it's supposed to be 4 below tonight.

emoticon A new challenge! Yay! Especially since I was such a slacker on the last one.

I was noticing though that there's a problem with the totaling of the points, if I'm reading right. Lisa will you look at it then let me know? I believe everyone is to add their minutes to the previous poster, right? So if the previous post said new total: 100 and I exercised 60 then the new total should be 160. LOL I had to use simple numbers to add in my head.

Let's go! We can do this! And if we make it around the world in 8 weeks then we can go to the North Pole!

Waiting patiently for the new challenge! If we walk around the world can we go pole to pole. LOL I've always wanted to visit Canada and Alaska and see the northern lights and I think it would be the thrill of a lifetime to go to Antartica and see penguins. My bucket list grows every time I get on SparkPeople. I had forgotten about the Northern Lights when I made my list.

Well, I'm going to say that I came within calorie range. I ate stuff that I didn't track, but what I did track came almost 600 calories under so I'm guessing.
Didn't get the ST workout done; just don't feel like it. I'll make it up tomorrow.

Hey everyone! December was pretty much a bust for me. Work was just - well - difficult. Just when we were sooooo close to making it the snow came which resulted in starting earlier, working later. And for some reason this year the employees seemed to be exceptionally difficult.

So I'm ready to get back and in touch with everyone. I've let some good friendships go this month and I need to get back on track.

What are we doing for January? Lisa? LOL I expect you to always have something for us to do. How can I help?

Hello!!!! Oh how I have missed you my friends out in sparkland!!!! emoticon
Last week was crazy with a dispatcher gone on vacation so I picked up the slack in that area AND did my work too!!! Exhausted by the time I got home (and no computer at home, just my phone) so I have been away for WAY too long!!! I baked over the break and ate way too much of it, but not as much as I would have in the past BUT I'm going to get back on track!! Why is it so easy to fall off?????

I have another 4 day weekend coming up unless I decide to come do a few extra things at work but I don't think that will happen!!!! Its been lightly snowing all day here so will be extra careful driving back home. Hope to post a little more on here with things getting back to normal and maybe will have internet at home soon!!

Happy Sunday! Well, I finally weighed again and was happy to see that I am inching back down a little. Doing pretty good on the calories although I will probably go over today. I have eaten a couple cookies and just fixed myself a marguerita. It seemed like a good idea after spending the whole day baking, fixing enchiladas, and then a 40 min. walk with the dog. It usually takes me 45 - 50 min. to walk that route; it's a little chilly out there. Probably won't do a squat workout or get on the elliptical as my knee is kind of bothering me now. All that standing I suppose.

One of the gals on another team told me something that I thought I'd share (forgive me if I already have). After she posted it, I realized that I had already come to this conclusion, just hadn't put it into words. She said:

'Focus on what you want (not what you don't want) and you will automatically be more mindful to ensure you achieve your desire... '

I've been focusing on wanting to feel good: eating, and eating, and eating, is not going to make me feel good. Daily exercise and eating WHEN I'M HUNGRY will make me feel good.

Good job, Amy! Hope Mon. isn't too hectic for you. I only have to work until noon, then I'll throw the eggnog together and head to my brother's house. Christmas day will be spent at home, huddled up in blankets with the heater turned up probably; it's supposed to get pretty cold.

I'm actually looking forward to getting on the scale tomorrow. I've been within range for 3 days now and exercising, too. I made my calories burned goal this week, I think I fell a little short last week.

Good morning! Hope everyone has a great weekend.
I finally finished my bosses' Christmas gift last night but still have a few to wrap. Cut down on some of the baking I intended to do; my son won't be here so no need to bake the pie we were going to share. I work this morning and Mon. morning, but other than that, I will be off through Tues. Yeah!
I've got 2 days within calorie range behind me and hoping I'll make it again today. Planning on breaded pork chops for dinner but will eat late so probably skip supper. Then there's the cookie dough...Wish me luck!

What a crazy week so far. Work has been insane. Hopefully it will start slowing down in the next few days. I cannot believe how much revenue I had yesterday on my own and most of it in the 30 minutes before we closed.

I think today will be slower with the weather. Cold, snow and LOTS of wind.

I am doing ok in the calorie department but no exercise. I have been so exhausted when I get home from work. Last night I felt like I had been hit by a truck!!

That's a good idea, Vicki. I say that every year! emoticon

I'm rethinking this plan. Jane won't be getting an ornament because I didn't get it done. So, I'll go ahead and finish it and then start the other one. If I don't get the other one done, I'll give my bosses the one I was going to give to Jane. (It sounded better in my head)

And now that I have all the stuff, I WILL put a couple of them together throughout the year to have on hand next Christmas.

So maybe I'll start exercising. Having a lot of trouble staying within calorie range and getting a little disgusted. I was thinking the other night about all the food we're planning for Christmas Eve and my stomach started hurting. I'm trying to plan just what I want to eat that won't start an evening camped in front of the buffet table. I think if I stick to a little ham and maybe some of the Ranch Potatoe Casserole that I'm taking, I can drink a glass of eggnog and be satisfied. Usually it's the cookies and crackers that make me feel like I need to keep going back for more.

Hope everyone is having a great week. I decided to blow off the exercise this week (except for the 40 min. walks with the dog and walking to and from work every day). I am still working on those Christmas decorations for my co-worker and bosses. I should get Jane's done tonight so I can drop that off at work tomorrow on my way to the chiropractor and then I can start on Liz and DeWayne's. Jane will be leaving on Thurs. for a week's vacation so I really need to get it done. Nothing like waiting 'til the last minute. Is last minute stitching as bad as last minute shopping?

Howdy, everyone. We had the church Christmas program this morning. It included a nice brunch. I'm fixing a simple lunch then we go to the high school concert. This is the final performance I'm involved in this season. Early tomorrow we fly to AZ for a few days with my parents. I look forward to seeing them and having some nice weather for running outside. I plan to fix most of the meals, so I should be able to stay on target with eating. Will try to check in from time to time. We'll be back home Thurs. afternoon/evening.

We did some baking yesterday as well. Just some sugar cookies and peanut butter cookies. Gonna keep it simple this year. Have to do an experimental brownie recipe to get it right for my daughter's holiday festival at school at the end of the week.

I am happy to report I am down one pound this week. My eating was much better and got in a couple of good workouts this week.

Good for you, Amy! I had a better week, too; came within calorie range all but 3 days and exercised all but 2. Today was a different story; went shopping and got a little stupid with the Coke again. Had a chimichanga for supper, not bad. Also, stopped at my sis's house and had some 'oreo balls'. Have you ever had those? They're oreo cookies, crushed and mixed with cream cheese and then dipped in either white chocolate or almond bark. Insane! It's no wonder we have so much trouble losing weight with people coming up with stuff like that!

Busy day tomorrow baking and wrapping presents and cleaning with my new vacuum cleaner, part of my Christmas gift from my SO. We found the one that we've been looking at for about $40 less. The one I have now is a bagless and it's kind of a piece of crap. I keep telling everyone that my vacuum sucks and then realize that, actually it doesn't suck--that's the problem! Also, need to work on the cross stitch ornament for my co-worker so I can start the one for my bosses. I really need to work on this kind of stuff earlier in the year. At least I got the rest of my family finished finally.

Have a good trip, Barb! How long will you be able to stay? Hope you dad recovers well.

Well, soaking in the tub last night must have done some good; my heel hasn't hurt as badly today as it did yesterday. I'd sure like to know what I did to it. I'm right on track to have another day within range but it probably ain't gonna happen tomorrow. We're going to Chadron to finish up a little Christmas shopping after work and will likely eat out...at Taco John's. Hope to get home in time to get on the elliptical.

Good morning, team. I wanted to update you on my Dad. The laser procedure they did on him was expected to take 3 hours. However, they located the area to work on quicker than anticipated so it only took 1.5 hours. Everything went well. His heart is pumping more regular now and he was able to return home yesterday afternoon. Mom said that he is resting well. DH and I will be flying down on Monday morning for a few days to visit and help them. Thanks again for your prayers.

The next few days are full for us: school choirs rehearse today with their concert on Sunday, an adult choir performance this evening, church program practice tomorrow morning. I have made plans to get my daily workouts sandwiched in between all of that. My parents are in AZ, so next week I look forward to doing some running outside.

Jill, it is really good to be picky. That's something that I've finally learned and I can easily say 'no' to something that I don't like even if I THINK that I really need something sweet, even if it doesn't taste good. One thing that I NEVER eat anymore is cookies that look like they're from frozen dough. OOOH, those things taste nasty. The Schwan man is always pushing their frozen cookie dough; I just laugh and tell him that I bake from scratch, thanks anyway.

I'm having trouble this evening; I've had one can of Coke (with a little Jack) but as long as I don't have another, I will be within calorie range today. My feet hurt and my SO is grumpy, so kicking back and drinking all night rather than exercising sounds really good to me. But...I won't. I will eat a bowl of beef veggie soup that I made yesterday and then get on the elliptical for 20 min. and then do an arm & ab workout.

I was a little behind in posting!! Got it updated now :) It has been a busy week!!! The weekend will be the same. Going to Milford and Lincoln for my nephews college graduations this weekend and back home for a family Christmas on Sunday!! Gonna watch those calories closely! (hopefully not watch them ADD up and get out of control)

I can't believe how nice it is today!! Should be out walking :) oh well too much work to do! I have been avoiding the cookies at work today (ok.....thats mostly due to the ones I like are gone, sometimes its good to be picky)

Another exhausting day. Lisa, I work at the Post Office so the next week and a half is going to be insane!!

Eating is still in check. I have slowed down on the water but I usually do when it is cold out.

Vicki, if you were just using a regular browser for internet like Internet Explorer or Firefox, I don't think you can recover those bookmarks. However, if you use a service like AOL, all your settings are probably stored with the server, so they would be there when you log into any computer.

Had a great run at the Y track this morning. I actually averaged under 11 minute mile. Haven't done that in quite awhile! I really felt good.

My dad is doing well for now. The catheterization they did determined that the problem is not a blockage issue. He is having an atrial flutter issue. He will return to the hospital on Thursday morning when they will do some laser work to help the atrium work better. Your continued prayers are appreciated!

I sympathize with that, Amy! I spend most of the day on my feet and by the time I get home, I'm not usually wanting to exercise. It seems like we shouldn't have to exercise if we do so much at work, but I guess that's life. By the way, where do you work?

I got up and walked with my dog this morning; first time since Sat. It wasn't too bad coming back but going out into that wind was not pleasant. Got tomorrow off so will walk a little later and a little longer.

Hi everybody!!! Just checking in to see how everyone is doing!! It was COLD Sunday and Monday, today seems a little better already!! I gave blood yesterday so was a bit over on calories but otherwise have been doing great with that. My problem is fruits and veggies, just not happening very well lol

Can't believe Christmas will be here in 2 WEEKS!!!!! Yikes!!!

Have done good the past several days of staying with my plan. I've been writing a statement each day of why I want to follow the plan set for that day. Also, once in a while DH offers a cookie to me because he know it helps build my determination to actually say "no" to him.

We're dealing with concerns about my Dad for the past month. His energy level has really dropped. It tires him just to get dressed. This morning he maybe having a cauterization done. Wishing I could be there with him and Mom. Prayers are appreciated.

Thanks, Debbie! I have actually been looking in the Omaha area as well. Not real picky as to location right now.
Good job, Amy. Good luck the rest of the week; I'm going to stick to it a lot better this week than I did last, the jeans are getting a little tight.
Barb, I hope you get it rolling good this week and that it rolls over to next to help you get through a traveling week. It's pretty tough to stay on track when you're traveling.

Hi everyone! Hope you all had a great weekend. I got quite a bit of shopping done. I've noticed that people seem to be a bit cranky this year. We were raised to always say "excuse me" and "thank you". I don't know how many people I got out of the way for and would say excuse me, or I'd hold the door open for someone and not one person would say thank you. In the spirit of the holiday I did bite my tongue usually if I do something nice like hold the door open or something and the person doesn't say "thank you" I'll always say "you're welcome". But I was in a ho ho ho kind of mood and didn't say anything. I'm just wondering what has happened to manners?

Ok I'm done venting. LOL I need a pet so I can have something to vent to.

Lisa - good luck with the application! Too bad you're not closer to Omaha with all the truck firms around here. You'd find a job in a heartbeat here I think. You can come live in my basement - I have a bedroom and a full bath down there. I'd let you live upstairs but I have such wacky sleeping habits.

Sounds like everyone is doing pretty good this month! I have been horrible. I have got to quit drinking smoothies! They're expensive but oh so good at Scooters.

Well I'm off to try and go to bed before 1:00 a.m. and see if I can get up earlier so I can work out some before work. We're working really long days but we only have two more weeks.
