The fish stew sounds yummy. Just don't care much for Okra. Will try it without it.

Thank you so much for the tip, Carol. Safety comes first and I have another CP that I can use.

Sounds like your pot is developing a hot spot. Some do that before they break, but it bears watching as some cause fires that way. Safety first!

Mine developed a hot spot about two years before it died; I compensated by using it for soup only after the hot spot started burning things. Looking back and knowing what I know now, I should have thrown it out. But it was my first hotspot in a crock pot (after all, they last forever) and I really didn't know for sure what to do.

Two years later the crock cracked, though I had never dropped it etc. In hindsight I am certain the crock cracked due to the hotspot. I found the crack when washing it, felt it, and knew I had been lucky: it could have completely broken while I was away from home while something was cooking in it.

Truthfully it sounded good even though I am not a shrimp lover. I have no idea why but my crockpot is taking shorter and shorter times to cook things. I do know we are never supposed to put frozen things in a pot, but I do. I am really interested in fish recipes and do it frozen at 4 hours when I make something---so--keep on trying!

Yikes... my shrimp dish didn't turn out as good as I thought it would. Way tooo long to keep shrimp in a crock pot. And stuffing too. I even had it on low. Everything was mush. It wasn't bad tasting, but it was great either. I'll keep the shrimp crock pot dishes for days when I can put it on for 4 hours instead of the 10+ it was in yesterday.

I HAD a coconut shrimp and rice recipe from SparkRecipes... but I couldn't find the recipe when I was throwing together the crock pot last night. So what did I have in the cupboard?

Well, I put 1/2 lb shrimp in the bottom of the crock (I have a tiny pot), covered with a few inches of dry stuffing mix and topped with frozen snap pea pods. I poured in a can of vegetable broth and put it on low this morning around 4:45 (before going to the gym, yay!).

I'll be home around 4... so I hope this turns out. I've never cooked shrimp before and I'm worried about not following a recipe (for once, I hate following recipes). I'll update when I find out how it worked.
Shrimp and stuffing? haha... I have a very low stocked cupboard. It was that or a can of diced tomatoes.

Adapt and overcome.

POACHED SALMON (Southern Living website)

4 salmon steaks
2 tablespoons lemon juice
1 cup water
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon white pepper
4 cloves garlic, minced
1 onion, sliced
2 tablespoons butter
1/2 teaspoon dried dill weed

Grease the bottom of a 3-4 quart slow cooker and stack the salmon fillets in the appliance. In heavy saucepan, combine remaining ingredients and bring to a boil over high heat. Stir, then pour over salmon in crockpot, cover, and cook on low for 3-1/2 hours or until salmon flakes when tested with a fork. Serves 4

Oh oh - you really did mean pork chops?! Boy do I feel stupid. Ai yi yi I need to go take my vitamins.

Yes this is the fish and seafood thread. No harm done, keeps us all on our toes, LOL! The Forum is named "Fish, Pork, and 'Other' Recipes Forum" because it has 3 sticky threads in it:

- the Fish & Seafood Thread,
- the Pork & Ham Thread, and
- the "Other" Thread for dairy, mac & cheese, desserts, ricotta cheese, yogurt, etc.

At least it's in the right Forum, LOL.

I swear I'm going to go take coconut oil and vitamins RIGHT NOW; hope it's not alzheimer's early.

I'm just curious, what kind of fish is chops? Probably something I've never heard of since I don't do much fish other than salmon.

i put a whole sliced onion in the bottom of crockpot. set to low let onion soften.
add green pepper depending on how much you like. rinse and pat dry chops. dip in
flour with poultry seasoning teaspoon and a half. place them in the crock on top of onion and pepper. add chicken broth 1/4 cup, cover and cook 4 hours. serve with vegetable rice and salad. you can use any chops bone in or boneless. i usually cook 5, my husband likes leftovers.

Please post your fish and seafood recipes here and when possible, provide as much info as possible: dynamic links others can click on, size of crockpot, setting, nutrition info including size of servings and number of servings, etc.
