We took our summer vacation about a week before school started up here. We went to our time share resort down in Myrtle Beach, SC. Thankfully the rain held out each day until the evening hours. We spent time in the pool and hot tubs, shopping the beach stores for bargains, flea markets, Huntington Beach State Park- absolutely beautiful & relaxing, Broadway at the Beach store, Barefoot Landing for the homemade candy and Black Market Minerals, plus the wineries for my hubby. I did treat the family to tickets for the Medieval Times dinner & show- AWESOME well worth the $ spent. Then instead of opting for a massage for myself I bought the family tickets to the Le Grande Cirque and made a great choice- I laughed so hard at times I had tears coming down and my hands were sore from all my clapping.
I am retired now, so instead of "vacations", we "take trips." After my parents both died, and we settled the estate, I was able to put some money into an account to save for "bucket list" trips. We never had children, and couldn't afford to adopt during the years when we were the right ages to raise kids, so I don't need to help kids financially or worry about leaving something to my heirs. While I really miss the fun with grandchildren other people have, and our holidays are very quiet and lonely except for volunteer work, the upside is, I have taken some terrific trips, and my next one will be 3 weeks in Kenya and Tanzania on a photo safari next month.

In GOD We Trust Choose To Lose "If you are going to win any battle you have to do one thing. You have to make the mind run the body. Never let the body let the body tell the mind what to do. The body will always give up. It is always tired in the morning, noon and night. But the body is never tired if the mind is not tired." -General George S Patton, U.S.Army, 1912 Olympian
We are still putting a new roof on and we had a lot of company. We went fishing and caught lots of salmon and did a lot of walks. Our real vacation comes in winter when we go to La Paz, Baha Mexico.
"The world is one country and mankind its citizens" one of the many truths spoken by Baha'u'llah and "Love is the light that guideth in darkness, the living link that uniteth God with man, that assureth the progress of every illumined soul."
we only went camping a couple of times and i spent the rest of my summer vacation which for me is mid june to mid august, just doing some projects around the house. we did go to an all alumni class reunion, both my dh and i went to the same high school, but there was no one there from my class. mostly the ones there graduated in the 50's and 60's. they are a very lively group.

Remember when the teacher asked you to write about this subject in the early days of school?
Mine was special this year. I drove with a friend to Skokie, Illinois to attend his 55th high school reunion. There were 62 people attending. That's impressive, since they are all 72 or 73 years of age. What a fun and energetic group! Some still lived in the same area and others came from all corners of the USA. Our round trip was almost 1300 miles.
While we were in the "neighborhood" we met a Sparkfriend on her farm outside Peoria, Illinois. Her husband is an avid fisherman and cooked fresh-caught fish for our dinner. This is the second time I arranged to meet another sparkperson while on a trip. What a great community!
I hope everyone had a good summer and an even better autumn!
