The Girl Scout troop that 3 of my granddaughters are in, and which I'm becoming more active in helping, is trying to raise money over the next 3 years to take an overseas trip somewhere. We were talking about it at a parents meeting the other night and throwing out ideas although we're far from actually making the definite plans. It sounds so wonderful and if I work a lot with the troop, which I want to do anyway, I could go too. We talked about Ireland, Scotland, England, New Zealand, Australia, and others. I've never been out of the country except across the border in Mexico to a small town about 90 miles from me. Don't even go there anymore because of the excalating violence. So any of those would be a wonderful trip for me.

As a child, my mom, now deceased, said that you could 'count' visiting a state if you ate in that state and slept overnight in that state... so by that criteria, I have been to 47 states and need to see Oregon, Washington and Alaska. Ultimate trip... Australia.

Unfortunately, I really haven't spent anytime on the east coast and would certainly like to go to New England, New York and Washington, DC. I would also like to spend some time in Northern California and Colorado. Maybe I'll win the lottery one day and be able to travel a lot of places plus take a world cruise. Until then, Youtube has a lot of great videos that I look at every now and then.

Wishing that all of you will take a dream vacation soon!

A dream vacation for me would be going to San Francisco for a few days then off to the Grand Canyon with a trip to Boulder Dam. From there going to St. Paul MN for a week cruise on the Mississippi aboard the Delta Queen and going up in the arch in St. Louis MO, Winding down in New Orleans for a couple of days and then home!

Wow Crottyn has an almost identical wish list vacation as me.
For some reason I have always pictured myself standing on the east coast of the southern part of Africa.
Ireland and visiting places my ancestors come from is a dream and Alaska sounds wonderful. I was lucky enough to grow up camping across the USA and highly recommend seeing as many of the National Parks as you can!

with no time of money restraints I would love to take a very very long road trip and travel all over the United States, to beaches and forests and places where there are wildlife and canyons and lakes and just all kinds of different terrain. Lots of hiking thrown in. And I'd like to top it off with a cruise or two. One cruise I'd like to do would be up along Alaska in the summertime. I want to see places overseas, but there are so many places here too that I want to see.

GREAT question, WALLAHALLA!! And what WONDERFUL responses!! Everyone has AMAZING ideas and this has made me want to win the lotto so I could do each and every one of them!!!!

GARDENQE2 -- I'd LOVE to "ride along to Alaska" -- I'd even offer to DRIVE! LOL... When do we leave??!! emoticon

JRIMM4 -- THANKS for posting that link!! I've bookmarked that site -- looks GORGEOUS! My husband would absolutely LOVE something like that... Might add that to my "bucket list"...

As for me, I recently saw some vacation packages on American Express's travel site for going to the Maldives (can't remember exactly where and I tried to look so I could post a link and couldn't locate it again).... BUT they had these private bungalows that were OVER the water -- absolutely GORGEOUS and SO relaxing looking!! Biggest issue was that travel to GET there was ridiculously expensive and THEN the "bungalows" were over $2000 PER night!!!! YIKES! Yes, I actually tried to price it because I WAS dreaming of escaping our winter storms and wondered if we could even THINK about doing something so exotic...which we've NEVER done in our lives! Sadly my dreams were crushed when I saw the cost but HEY -- since this message board is all about dreams and money is NO object, THAT'S where I'm heading FIRST!!!! K??!

My first choice is a trip to Australia. We have a friend who is an orthopedic surgeon in Melbourne. Would love to see him again.

A cross country train ride in Canada then cruise to Alaska. Esp in leaf peeping season.

Return to Hawaii for at least a month.

Tour the USA. Visit historic sites, Presidential libraries, National Parks. etc.

My dream vacation would involve a long auto & cabin tour of the parks in the Pacific Northwest, from Alaska on down, hiking wherever I could find an easy enough trail, interspersed with visits to my friends and family members whose homes are scattered along the way. I would also enjoy a cruise of the Mediteranean with side visits in the Holy Land and places St. Paul traveled - I'd love an archeology tour. Not sure my feet are up to it, tho.

I would like to travel to each and every country in the world (no time restrictions remember?) I would like to spend at least 2 weeks to 2 months in each country. It would definitely be the vacation of a lifetime!! In more realistic terms I would like to go to Australia and spend a week (or two) in Sydney, then hike through the Outback.

A house close to the beach on Kauai or Maui with my family, a bunch of cats and dogs, a sailboat, snorkeling gear. two or three swimsuits in a smaller size than I currently wear (but they'd fit), and no reason to ever come home.

I can't chose between going back to Ethiopia and Zambia with Kenya and the Big Game Parks thrown in - or going to USA to meet some of the many SP friends have made!!

Well I just did the whole castle and cathedral thing in Ireland back in September..it was ok, BUT I would LOVE a tropical island with a deserted beach and a warm, blue ocean...ahhh, in my dreams!

Which do you prefer?
The pain of self discipline?....or...the pain of self regret?

I like the sound of both of those options.

What a blessing that I'm able to enjoy a dream vacation every other weekend. My husband of 30+ years and I go to the desert with our Toy Hauler, motorcycles and other toys. We take the dogs, who love being out there. All four of us get to relax and enjoy the beautiful scenery. I go for long hikes with the dogs while he potters with the bikes, trailer and truck. I have a wonderfully comfy reclining chair where I can sit and read, or just sit. We are fortunate indeed.

In addition, I'm going to a yoga retreat this spring. Imagine enjoying a 4am yoga class, as the sun is rising and the jungle is coming to life. As the class comes to an end, the smell of coffee invites participants into the dining room. I can hardly wait.

I would love to see Ireland, but my dream vacation would be a cabin in the woods with no phone or tv. Just a chance to get away, maybe do some fishing, hiking, reading... with the hubby, of course.

If there were no limits, no costs, no time restrictions, where would you go on your dream vacation?

I would take a trip to Europe and visit every castle and cathedral on the continent.
