In the drug store with the supplements/vitamins biotin is there.

Everybody tells me that they would love to knit, but they don't have time. I look at people's lives and I can see opportunity and time for knitting all over the place. The time spent riding the bus each day? That's a pair of socks over a month. Waiting in line? Mittens. Watching TV? Buckets of wasted time that could be an exquisite lace shawl. ~Stephanie Pearl-McPhee, At Knit's End: Meditations for Women Who Knit Too Much

How do you get biotin? My nails are thin as paper!

Before washing I use either mayonnaise, oilve oil or coconut oil It stays on wrapped in a warm towel or even 30 minutes under the dryer before washing. Makes it not greasy later.

Also a lot of meds do make your hair dry. Try getting more vitamin D into your system as well as using biotin. Its good for hair and nails

You might also try putting your usual conditioner on your hair, covering with one of those inexpensive plastic shower caps from a hotel and perhaps a towel too if you want and leaving on for several hours or over night. Then rinse thoroughly for a free deep conditioning treatment.

Are you eating enough healthy fat? Nuts, olive oil, avacado, cold water fish? Don't deprive yourself of all fats. Go ahead and eat that egg yolk!

Are you washing your hair everyday? Stop! Wash hair every third day if oily, once a week if scalp is dry.

Use a mild shampoo. Extra cleansing shampoo will strip all oil out of your hair.

Are you using a conditioner? If your scalp is oily apply the conditioner from your shoulders down, don't apply to your scalp. If your hair is fine use a light conditioner. Always use conditioner. Use an extra cleansing shampoo once in a while if your hair feels like it is getting weighed down. I have found that inexpensive conditioners work just as well as expensive ones. I like VO 5. My hair is waist length and the ends are just beginning to split so I am going to take six inches off.

Give your hair a warm wrap with mayonaise or olive oil. Apply your choice liberaly to your hair, cover with plastic wrap and cover with a warm towel. Leave on ten or fifteen minutes to soak in, then wash with a mild shampoo.

You didn't mention whether your hair is dry because of over-processing or lack of nutrients. If it's over-processed, I'd suggest Moroccan Oil Intense Hydrating Mask, or similar product. Slather it on your hair whenever you can, like before going to sleep, leaving it on for as long as possible before shampooing. Make sure to use high grade shampoo and conditioners. Argan oil is good before styling www.sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P2

. If you are lacking nutrients, it may be that you are avoiding ingesting fat. Don't do that. Eat fish as often as possible, try taking a tablespoon of quality fish oils daily. Hope you find relief!
