Ideas:

Take an extra walk. Maybe take the family outside for a walk after dinner, or go by yourself.

Run your errands by bike or foot instead of driving.

Heck, take a bike ride for fun!

I forgot to mention that I took a big round drink cooler with a spout and filled it with ice water. We had another cooler with canned drinks too. I'm happy to report that we kept having to refill the water cooler!

Those parties always present challenges, don't they? We'll be having a party soon for my two daughters & I know the cake will be a real test for me! The items you made for your daughter's party sound great!

I did well w/ the weekend challenge. Water is mainly all I drink these days w/ the heat. And I stayed w/in my calorie range too. We went to a friend's for dinner last night & I brought a veggie tray so I'd have something safe to munch on.

I like your idea of meal planning - in advance. Many days I seem to plan on the fly w/ what we have around the house. Or what the kids request for dinner. Anything I can do to save some $ when grocery shopping sounds great. It's gotten really expensive to feed a family of five these days!

Not one glass of water for me, but then again, I'm sure you're not surprised. Of course there's lots of water in beer and I did have a it of that on Saturday.

I went over on calories on Saturday by 430 calories, but 448 calories were very much deserved beer. All food was healthy, and the nutritional balance was almost perfect.

My meal planning is based on the grocery list, which is based on what's on sale. It's all done already. Plus, being by myself, I don't need to shop every week anyway.

How did everyone do this weekend?

I did really well. I limited myself to 1 gluten-free cupcake. Whoo hoo! We had plenty of leftover cupcakes at the party (regular and GF) and I gave most of them away to the guests - to my daughter's disappointment.

Plus we made all the food ourselves, and it was all healthy! Homemade hummus with veggies, homemade salsa, homemade guacamole, tortilla chips, and fruit salad.

Today's challenge: plan your meals for the week and make your grocery list from there. Stick to the list when you go to the store. Not only will this save you calories, it will also save you money!

So, since I had no bananas, I went cranberries.

I don't hang out in playgrounds. Since I don't have a little one, it would look weird and make other mommies nervous.

So during my walk I (seriously) walked up to someone and shouted "cranberries".

Somehow, that doesn't work as well, and that person quickened their pace a bit as they were walking away.

1. Eat a banana. It's a freggie!
2. Run around the playground yelling "Bananas!" I actually did this one. Chasing a kid gives you an excuse, but it's optional.
3. Drink an extra glass of water and think "Bananas!" OK, that made no sense, but it makes it fit into the challenge.

Great job both of you! Tracy, you'll get back into the swing of things soon!

I also got in an extra 10 minutes. It felt great!!!

Today's challenge: do it again! 10 extra minutes of cardio. Do it a minute at a time if you have to!

Just a few days after back surgery, the cardio is not as strenuous s it was several months ago before the injury, but I've done my normal 30 minutes already. 10 more in a little while and I'll have the challenge done for today.

10 minute sessions of walking up and down the stairs to strengthen the leg muscle that I haven't been using properly in several months.

In a couple weeks I'll be increasing again to full blown workouts, but still keeping it light for now.

Yesterday's challenge was hard! 50 calories doesn't sound like much, but I really wanted a whole piece of corn instead of 1/2. But I'm glad I didn't do it!
