I also had the app before being charged for it, but something happened to the app in my phone and I had to delete it and try to load again after nearly a year and they wanted me to pay for it this time. I tried to pay for it but can not set up an account with goggle to get it. so I do not have it on my phone any more.

good luck the the team leader, you can do this. I downloaded the app to both my cell and tablet (both androids) before they charged and have to say i love it.

I don't have an iPhone or iPad, or any tablet or smartphone, so all my sparking and fitbitting is done on my work computer or home laptop. :)

I love the iPhone app! It's only $3.99 and I think it's well worth it. It has helped me get into the habit of tracking my food. It's a lot easier than trying to get onto the computer throughout the day to track food, fitness and water. I always have my phone with me so it's super convenient. I used to log into SP through the phone internet but the app is hassle free.
I recommend it

Yes, it does all that on the iPod too. And it has the mic funtion so I don't even have to type( unless I'm eating something it doesn't recognize). Pam

The android (and most likely, the ios) app does allow you to track your water. It also has a working barcode scanner and the ability to spin the wheel. You can also read articles for information (and points). You can easily track food, exercise and your weigh-ins. To me, you get a lot of functionality for the price of a large latte.

I've been alternating between the SP app and MyFitnessPal recently--part of the problem was that I needed a working barccode scanner (I haven't upgraded past the free old app) for travel adds. I prefer the community here, however, and I'm fairly split between which app I want more. It's probably going to come down to which app is less demanding on my ancient!phone (leave the house with 100% charge! Arrive at work two hours later with NOTHING).
SP has the food planner, which I love to use for inspiration for meals, but there's no caloric adjustment--important since I have a rather small setzone and need to make sure I don't backslide into bad (not)eating habits.
And of course, I have my Fitbit.
I could reverse the syncing order--have SP sync to FB instead of MFP--but MFP's sync doesn't list multiple instances of one food as an error...
It's a mess sometimes. LOL

I have an android and the SP app but I didn't pay anything for it. Does SP now charge to get an app?!?! I only use the app to track my food when traveling. I don't find it useful for anything else. It would be especially useful to track my water intake and spin when I'm away but I just miss those days. But really! you have to pay for the app now?!?
WOW! I really regret that workout -No one ever-

So true, the community-support that SP offers is beyond comparison to any other site!

I use Sparkpeople iphone and ipad apps. I tried MyFitnessPal but I don't find it keeps as much detail as Sparkpeople. Also there is no sense of community there as much as there is in Spark so I am back here.

I downloaded the SP app before they started charging for it. That being said I use it when I am away from a computer mainly for logging food. I use to use the FB app but now that SP syncs with FB I don't use it as much. Good luck with motivating your team!

I've just purchased the SP app for my android tablet so I don't have a lot of experience with it yet. If I can track food on it and maybe a couple of other things it will be worth it so I can use it on the go. I also have the MyFitnessPal app and still use it sometimes too. But I like SP better overall. Good luck with the team!

I will also put in a thumbs up for the app. I think it's well worth the money they charge. In addItIon to what has already been mentIoned, you can also read dIfferent sparkpeople articles from within the app.

I got an iPod 5 for christmas and bought the sparkpeople app. It was $3.99 and I love it. I track all my food, and can use the microphone to search for food or scan the bar codes. You can also add fitness, water and spin the wheel. There's also a nice calorie differencial report. You can't get the friend feed or message boards, but if you are tracking food, it is way easier ( in my opinion) than using the computer. For me well worth the small fee. Also have the fitbit app on it and love that as well. Hope this helps, pam

I did some checking with two friends who use it and they find the app only good for like, mentioned logging food and exercise. They also have a FB app which does about the same thing but they keep it to make sure their FB"S are syncing well thrrough the day

I got the app before they started charging for it, and use it constantly.

I use the app, but it is really only good for tracking food and fitness. It doesn't (yet) allow you to friend feed or do any messaging. I believe it is free...

Hi everyone,
I just inherited a team that has an inactive leader. Not sure quite what I'm getting into, but just curious, how many fitbiter's use the sparkpeople iphone/ipad app?
I've used it off and on. Now that I'm a team leader, I guess I'll be using it daily. Previously, I would alternate between MyFitnessPal.
Any comments?
