My Challenge Name: "This is ME telling the VOICES to SHUT UP, to SHUT UP!"
(acknowledgements to Micheal Keaton and Henry Winkler in the 1982 movie, "Night Shift")

My Starting Weight: 164

My Finishing Weight: 160

Four Other things I measured during this challenge & their current stats:
1. P90X YogaX: 30 minutes and I'm toast
End: 60 minutes
Difference: 30 minutes

2. Pants: Size 12
End: looser size 12
Difference: not as tight :)

3. Swimming: 1650 yards
End: 2000 yards (in 45 minutes)
Difference: 350 yards

4. Belly rolls when sitting: 2
End: still 2
Difference: None

When I first started this challenge, I thought that I wouldn't see much difference due to my medial issues, but now I've learned that with the right medications, I can feel normal again.

I already knew that peer pressure motivates me, but now I've learned that getting healthy again motivates me even more.

The thing that I accomplished during this challenge and am MOST PROUD OF is running again!

Something I didn't expect from this challenge was my attitude shift.

This challenge may be ending, but I am not stopping... I'm going to swallow my fear and set a goal to run a half marathon in January.

Make a statement declaring your commitment to continue:
"I, swimmingjess, being of sound mind and body, hereby declare to all patrons of Spark that I am not a quitter and I am ready for whatever challenges are set before me including the hardest challenge of believing in myself."

My Starting Weight: 136
My Finishing Weight: 126

Four (or more) Other things I will be measuring during this challenge & their current stats: (body measurements, race times, crunch max, jeans size, whatever YOU need to track)
1. Start- 37.5
Finish 36.5
(difference) -1"
2. (start) 31"
(finish) 30"
(difference) 1"
3. (start) 35"
(finish)34"
(difference) 1"
4. (start) Times I went to the gym Started :1
(finish) 24
(difference) 4 workouts ABOVE my goal, including a week the gym was closed for renovations, and the next week I was on vacation.

When I first started this challenge, I thought that I would totally flake out, quit working out entirely, and gain all my weight back by the end of the challenge but now I've learned that while I did flake out on some of the challenges, I DID keep trying. And beat my goal!!

I already knew that recording my efforts motivates me, but now I've learned that getting results motivates me even more.

The thing that I accomplished during this challenge and am MOST PROUD OF is I LOST 10 pounds!!! O_o. I was shooting for 5!

Something I didn't expect from this challenge was I never gave up!.

This challenge may be ending, but I am not stopping... I'm going to swallow my fear and set a goal to learn how to strength train without the gym, since I can't afford to keep my membership.

Make a statement declaring your commitment to continue: I will find a way to balance a husband, 2 yo son, FT job, PT job, AND working out so that I can do it all!

The short version here, the rest I will post soon in my blog:

My Starting Weight: 144
My Finishing Weight: 137 - 7 pounds banished!!!!

Four other things I will be measuring during this challenge & their current stats:

1. 2 mile run time
start - 20:44
finish - 19:37
difference -1:07 improvement, 37 seconds away from my goal!

2. 5k run time
start - 32:07
finish - 31:00 (estimated based on 1:07 improvement in #1)
difference - my focus shifted to longer distances so I didn't actually run another 5k to time properly but I know my overall speed has improved (see #1 above!)

3. pushups
start - 44
finish - 46
difference - +2, only 4 more to add to reach my goal!

4. total distance running
start - 3.1 miles
finish - 10.84 miles
difference - +7.74 miles...half marathon, here I come!

My Starting Weight: 192
My Finishing Weight:187

Four (or more) Other things I will be measuring during this challenge & their current stats:
1. A tight size 18
still tight
2. (start)Could barely walk a mile
(finish) I walk three
(difference)2mi
3. (start)could not run a block
(finish)can now run a a block
(difference)one block
4. (start) I ate a lot of crap
(finish) I eat way less crap
(difference) I have a soda once a week and enjoy the hell out of it.

When I first started this challenge, I thought that I would not be able to finish it but now I've learned that sometimes you have to fall down a lot to get to the finish line.

I already knew that being pissed at myself motivates me, but now I've learned that seeing my stamina improve daily motivates me even more.

The thing that I accomplished during this challenge and am MOST PROUD OF is that I kept on trying.

Something I didn't expect from this challenge was how hard it was for me to keep up.

This challenge may be ending, but I am not stopping... I'm going to swallow my fear and set a goal to finish training for the Turkey trot.

Make a statement declaring your commitment to continue: I'm going to keep on pulling my butt off the floor every time I work myself to the bone trying to do better than yesterday. I have a long term goal that I AM finishing THIS YEAR if it KILLS me. I am going to DO IT! I am DOING IT!

My Starting Weight: ~186ish (I don't have a scale)
My Finishing Weight: Probably not too far from that.

Four (or more) Other things I will be measuring during this challenge & their current stats:
1. Waist at belly button
Start: 37"
End: 36 3/4"
Difference: 1/4" (this is so not the day to measure... TOM bloat)

2. Upper arms
Start: 13 1/8"
End: 12 3/4"
Difference: 3/8"

3. Hips
Start: 42"
End: 42"
Difference: 0

4. Thighs
Start: 26 1/2"
End: 26"
Difference: 1/2"

emoticon
When I first started this challenge, I thought that _I would see more of a difference by the end_ but now I've learned that _I really should buy a scale so I can record number progress_.

emoticon
I already knew that _feeling good from working out_ motivates me, but now I've learned that _making my stupid thighs not touch_ motivates me even more.

emoticon
The thing that I accomplished during this challenge and am MOST PROUD OF is _I can run! Without my knee complaining!_.

emoticon
Something I didn't expect from this challenge was _the fact that I really miss the gym on my days off_.

emoticon
This challenge may be ending, but I am not stopping... I'm going to swallow my fear and set a goal to _get to the healthy BMI range so I might have an easier time getting pregnant_.

emoticon
Make a statement declaring your commitment to continue:
I will keep it up because I can!! XD

Four Other things I will be measuring during this challenge & their current stats: (body measurements, race times, crunch max, jeans size, whatever YOU need to track)

1. BMI: 22.3 - same
2. Hips: 38 inches - 37.5
3. Daily Calories: 1400-1800 - I give myself about a 80%
4. Unassisted handstand push-ups: 7 (real ones) - OK, so I did this, but I'm not sure how "real" and "good" they were :-)

OK, so I didn't really succeed in the whole drop some more weight category, but I will say that I'm extremely proud of my dedication on the exercise front. I've learned that I can stick to that commitment - averaged 6 days per week!

The thing that I accomplished during this challenge and am MOST PROUD OF is my half marathon - 2 hours, 1 minute! Now onto the Chicago half in 3 weeks - I WILL get under 2 hours :-)

emoticonemoticonemoticonemoticon

Something I didn't expect from this challenge was feeling the NEED (not just the WANT) to exercise. I get crabby when I don't! I'm also glad that I'm not disappointed in myself for not losing any weight. I'm feeling pretty positive, so I'll take that!

Make a statement declaring your commitment to continue:

I, kbarry23, hereby declare that this challenge is not over in my world! I will enjoy the beautiful weather, great workouts, healthy eating and keep my head up - FOCUS and DETERMINATION!! I WILL stay on track!

Congrats to all your successes!!! Thanks Yoovie for a great challenge!

(finish) 38.5
(difference) - .75

2. Waist measurement (start) 28.5
(finish) 28.25
(difference) -.25

3. Jeans size (start) 10
(finish) 8
(difference) - 1 size!

4. full pushups (chest to floor) (start) 0
(finish) 0
(difference) 0

When I first started this challenge, I thought that I couldn't commit to a 6-day/week exercise plan but now I've learned that it's just a matter of taking the time to do it. And it's really not that much time.

I already knew that getting stronger motivates me, but now I've learned that BEING stronger motivates me even more.

The thing that I accomplished during this challenge and am MOST PROUD OF is the drop in my hip measurements. I definitely wasn't expecting that!

Something I didn't expect from this challenge was finally hitting a groove where wanting to work out is easy!

This challenge may be ending, but I am not stopping... I'm going to swallow my fear and set a goal to finish the Supreme 90 workout that I started.

Make a statement declaring your commitment to continue:

I, Themis27 do hereby declare and affirm (I know...) that I WILL continue to press forward with my current exercise routine (Supreme 90). I WILL make time during the day to get my workout in, and I WILL include weekends. Starting today...with a nasty tabata workout. emoticon

Don't call it a comeback / I've been here for years
Summer DIY Challenge (July 1 - August 14)

Starting Weight: 164
Current Weight: 154
[ - 10 pounds ]

Starting Waist: 34 inches
Current Waist: 32 inches
[ - 2 inches ]

Starting Hips: 42 inches
Current Hips: 41 inches
[ - 1 inch ]

Starting BMI: 28.2
Current BMI: 26.5
[ - 1.7 ]

When I started, the farthest I could run without walking: 1.9 miles
Now, I can run for 4 miles straight!
[ + 2.1 miles ]

When I first started this challenge, I thought that [I couldn't be a real runner] but now I've learned that [I already am].

I already knew that [checking things off my list] motivates me, but now I've learned that [seeing results] motivate me even more.

The thing that I accomplished during this challenge and am MOST PROUD OF is [running my first 5K].

Something I didn't expect from this challenge was [realizing that I don't have to be perfect to be making progress - progress can be messy, sweaty and full of missteps].

This challenge may be ending, but I am not stopping... I'm going to swallow my fear and set a goal to [complete an iron girl triathlon before next summer].

Make a statement declaring your commitment to continue:
Like my challenge title says "I've been here for years". And I'm not going anywhere. That is, anywhere except FORWARD.

Lost 4.9 pounds WOO HOO!

Four (or more) Other things I will be measuring during this challenge & their current stats: (body measurements, race times, crunch max, jeans size, whatever YOU need to track)
1. Run a 10k in under an hour(start) 1:10
(finish) 1:18
(difference) +8 min! UGH! Had to take a couple weeks off from running due to shin splints and I lost a lot of speed/endurance. I'm going to keep at it, though!
2. Fit into my 7 For All Mankind jeans (start) Not even close
(finish) I can get them up around my hips now... but still can't button
(difference) Meh...
3. Waist--around belly button (start) 41 in!
(finish) 39.5 in
(difference) -1.5 in! WOO HOO!
4.Freggie Servings (start) 1-2 a day
(finish) Min 3 a day, sometimes more. Have definitely improved this habit.
(difference) +1 Yeah!

When I first started this challenge, I thought that vanity was the most important thing to me, but now I've learned that I really want to be STRONG and HEALTHY. Not just thin. Don't get me wrong... My vain motivations are still there. I love fashion too much. But I think I've reordered my priorities. I'm still over 200 lbs, but I haven't felt this good in a long time.

I already knew that fitting into smaller clothes motivates me, but now I've learned that bragging about how far I've run motivates me even more.

The thing that I accomplished during this challenge and am MOST PROUD OF is I have not had a bite of Taco Bell or a potato chip since July 23. That is almost a month of not putting my two biggest trigger foods into my body. And you know... I don't miss it.

Something I didn't expect from this challenge was how much accountablility I would feel by having to fill out these cards and share what I accomplished.

This challenge may be ending, but I am not stopping... I'm going to swallow my fear and set a goal to GET UNDER 200 LBS! FOREVER!!!!!!.

Make a statement declaring your commitment to continue:

I will not give up. I will not take the end of this challenge as an opportunity to slack. I will continue to forge forward on this healthy lifestyle journey and I WILL get to my healthy goal weight.

My Starting Weight: 345.8
My Finishing Weight: 340.8 (that's a 5 pound loss, babeeeeee!)

emoticon Four (or more) Other things I will be measuring during this challenge &

their current stats: (body measurements, race times, crunch max, jeans

size, whatever YOU need to track)
1. Bra Band - 44" - no change
2. Waist - 48" - no change
3. Left Calf - 23" (measured 4" from knee) - no change
4. Average daily steps (June: 5,173) - pedometer broke and I never bothered getting a new one...so, I don't know. Off to get a pedometer I go...it really IS a great motivator.

emoticon When I first started this challenge, I thought that 5 pounds didn't amount to much but now I've learned that I cannot lose 200 pounds without counting them, one by one, and 5 after 5.

emoticon I already knew that LOVE motivates me, but now I've learned that
ANGER, FRUSTRATION, and OBSTACLES motivate me even more, at least for now.

emoticon The thing that I accomplished during this challenge and am MOST

PROUD OF is that I didn't quit. I have a lifetime of quitting and only a short list of things I've stuck by. Taking care of myself is on the short list. I intend the list to get longer, and to keep improving myself.

emoticon Something I didn't expect from this challenge was the resistance I have to taking pictures (of objects and of myself) and posting them. I hate the pressure of making the pic I'm taking look good...especially cuz I've got only a slight clue on what makes a good photo! LOL Gotta continue chipping away at my perfectionist streak; it invades my entire life.

emoticon This challenge may be ending, but I am not stopping... I'm going to
swallow my fear and set a goal to lose 2 pounds per week for the next 20 weeks. I am going to end 2011 having lost 75 pounds.

Other tracks:
1" off butt
1/2 off thighs
1" off bust, of course
Drinking 8 oz h2o daily

When I first started this challenge, I thought that I might not reach my goal but now I've learned that achieving numeric goals is possible.

I already knew that weight loss numbers motivate me, but now I've learned that looking amazing motivates me even more.

The thing that I accomplished during this challenge and am MOST PROUD OF is hitting that weight, and maintaining it.

Something I didn't expect from this challenge was being annoyed to SIT at the computer screen. I used to enjoy it. Now, I just want to be going, doing, moving.

This challenge may be ending, but I am not stopping... I'm going to swallow my fear and set a goal to reach 160 by Mid October.

DIY Challenge (AKA "THE HOLLYWOOD HILLS HORSEBACK RIDE WITH GLORIA & RUDY SUMMER CHALLENGE") End Results

emoticonMy Starting Weight: 214.5 (as of July 1, 2011)
emoticonMy Finishing Weight: 210 (as of August 14, 2011)

emoticonFour (or more) Other things I will be measuring during this challenge & their current stats: (body measurements, race times, crunch max, jeans size, whatever YOU need to track):

1. (start) Waist: 39" ( as of July 1)
(finish) 39"
(difference) 0" I expected this, even though I'm pear shaped: my waist is always the last to go.
2. (start) Dr. Oz Belly Button Measurement: 40" ( as of July1)
(finish) 42"
(difference) +2 WTF??? Bloat??? SO not happy...
3. (start) Calf (important for riding boots): 18 7/8" (as of July 1)
(finish) 19"
(difference) +1/8" P*ssed off about this one, but I've doing a lot of plies during the past few weeks. Hopefully my calves will level off and start going back down again soon!
4. (start) Upper arm: 16" (as of July 1)
(finish) 15 7/8"
(difference) -1/8"
Note: The weight is, however leaving other places since July 1 : neck, collarbone, upper torso, hips, wrist, forearms & back, and I banished 1/2" in the thigh.

emoticonWhen I first started this challenge, I thought that being motivated by vanity was a bad thing but now I've learned that it's a good thing if it keeps you going and if the results are healthy & achieved in a healthy way.

emoticonI already knew that health motivates me, but now I've learned that health plus vanity motivates me even more.

emoticonThe thing that I accomplished during this challenge and am MOST PROUD OF is completing it despite my health issues and keeping up with the group in my own way.

emoticonSomething I didn't expect from this challenge was having so much difficulty answering these questions! Seriously! I'm pretty introspective, but it's been the hardest part...which tells me it's a good thing.

emoticonThis challenge may be ending, but I am not stopping... I'm going to swallow my fear and set a goal to have someone take a photo of me on my Sparkiversary even though I won't be near my goal. (Just for me. I already reveal way too much here.)

emoticonMy Finishing Weight: 195 (-4.5)

emoticonFour (or more) Other things I will be measuring during this challenge & their current stats: (body measurements, race times, crunch max, jeans size, whatever YOU need to track)
1. "Apron" Start - 47" / End - 46" / Difference - (-1)!!!!

2. Pushups Start - 0 / End - 0 / Difference - none in the numbers, but I'm sooooo close to being able to do that first pushup!

3. Jeans Start - 18, 16W / End - 18,16W / Difference - none in the numbers, but they fit much better.

4. Fitness Tests Start - Walking: 16.48, Pushups - 0, Cruches - 0 / End / Difference - I STILL have not done my fitness tests. *sigh*

emoticonWhen I first started this challenge, I thought that I [probably wouldn't manage to finish] but now I've learned that [I really can do something I put my mind to!].

emoticonI already knew that [intellectual challenge] motivates me, but now I've learned that [accountability and the high of proving myself] motivates me even more.

emoticonThe thing that I accomplished during this challenge and am MOST PROUD OF is [I finished the dang thing. ALL OF IT.].

emoticonSomething I didn't expect from this challenge was [I discovered I really, really like lifting weights].

emoticonThis challenge may be ending, but I am not stopping... I'm going to swallow my fear and set a goal to [redacted]. *laugh* The sekkrit project is coming, but I don't want to unveil it just yet.

My Starting Weight: 157.8
My Finishing Weight: 155.8 (Seen this two days in a row now, so happy!)

Four (or more) Other things I will be measuring during this challenge & their current stats: (body measurements, race times, crunch max, jeans size, whatever YOU need to track)
1. Weight
(start): 157.8
(finish):155.8
(difference): -2
2. Waist
(start):31.5
(finish):31
(difference):-.5
3. Hips
(start): 38
(finish): 38
(difference): 0
4. Best 5K:
(start): 29:15
(finish): 26:15 (I think my Nike+ might have messed up though, otherwise the best is 27:15)
(difference): -3:00 (HOLY CRAP! Even if my best is 27:15, two minutes is AMAZING!)

When I first started this challenge, I thought that I hated strength training but now I've learned that I want to be STRONG, so I've gotta do it!

I already knew that weight loss motivates me, but now I've learned that the desire to just be FIT motivates me even more.

The thing that I accomplished during this challenge and am MOST PROUD OF is improving my 5K time.

Something I didn't expect from this challenge was: to be honest? lack of progress weight-wise. I have been pushing hard all summer and to only have lost 2 lbs is kind of a bummer.

This challenge may be ending, but I am not stopping... I'm going to swallow my fear and set a goal to do Crossfit.

Make a statement declaring your commitment to continue: I'm using my "fun" money to pay for a Crossfit membership...if being as sore as I am today is "fun" to me, you can't say I'm not committed!

(finish) Pull ups without the chair – 0 – unfortunately I still cannot do any pull ups.
(difference) No difference but I will get there!

When I first started this challenge, I thought that [living a healthy life would get easier] but now I've learned that [it will always be a battle, but a battle that I will win].

I already knew that [becoming skinny] motivates me, but now I've learned that [becoming fit and healthy] motivates me even more.

The thing that I accomplished during this challenge and am MOST PROUD OF is [I learned to be honest with myself].

Something I didn't expect from this challenge was [to lose 2 inches off my waist].

This challenge may be ending, but I am not stopping... I'm going to swallow my fear and set a goal to be able to do 10 pull-ups by November 1st.

DIY Challenge – End Plate (the results are in…)

emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

My Starting Weight: 242.0
My Finishing Weight: 234.5 (lost 7.5 pounds – yay!)

Four other things I measured during this challenge & their current stats:
- Hips: 54.5”/ 54.0” (lost .5”)
- Upper waist (smallest area): 41.0” / 41.0” (no change)
- Right arm: 18.5” / 18.0” (lost .5”)
- Right thigh: 31.0” / 30.5” (lost .5”)

When I first started this challenge, I thought that I would be able to LOSE AT LEAST 15 POUNDS but now I've learned that PLATEAUS HAPPEN AND THEY SUCK! BUT…AFTER MONTHS OF GOING BACK AND FORTH WITH THE SAME 3 POUNDS, I FINALLY BROKE THE PLATEAU BY THE LAST WEIGH-IN. HELL YEAH!!! :)

I already knew that a CHALLENGE motivates me, but now I've learned that BEING CONSISTENT motivates me even more.

The thing that I accomplished during this challenge and am MOST PROUD OF is INSPIRING A BUNCH OF MOMS TO EXERCISE DURING OUR KIDS’ FOOTBALL PRACTICE.

Something I didn't expect from this challenge was TO BE SO CAUGHT UP IN WAITING FOR OUR CHALLENGES TO BE POSTED AND BE EXCITED TO DO WELL WITH THEM.

This challenge may be ending, but I am not stopping...I'm going to swallow my fear and set a goal to CONTINUE TO BE CONSISTENT AND WORK HARD AND BE IN THE 220’S BY THE TIME I LEAVE FOR DISNEY!

Make a statement declaring your commitment to continue: I WILL WORK HARD EVERY SINGLE DAY TO BE THE BEST THAT I CAN BE. I WILL BE CONSISTENT WITH MY EATING AND WORK OUTS AND I WILL CONTINUE TO TAKE STEPS TOWARDS ACHIEVING ALL OF MY GOALS!

My Starting Weight: 248.6
My Finishing Weight:246.0
2.6 lbs lighter

Four (or more) Other things I will be measuring during this challenge & their current stats: (body measurements, race times, crunch max, jeans size, whatever YOU need to track)
1. waist (start) 37" (finish) 36"
(difference) -1

2. adequate protein (start) 50% of the days 6 weeks before challenge began (finish) 81% of days during the 6 weeks of the challenge
(difference) 31% improvement

3. average exertion of workouts (start) 2.5 out of 5 (5 being balls to the wall) (finish) 4 out of 5
(difference) from a "crunch" to a pilates "hundred"

4. hips/butt (start) 47 (finish) 48.7
(difference) my butt is more round than square.

When I first started this challenge, I thought that [ i would feel consistently motivated] but now I've learned that [uncertainty and life challenges can make eating ice cream in bed seem like the best way to cope].

I already knew that [encouragement from friends] motivates me, but now I've learned that [ a calendar full of a stickers] motivates me even more.

The thing that I accomplished during this challenge and am MOST PROUD OF is [finding and embracing my inner warrior].

Something I didn't expect from this challenge was[how good seeing my progress on the calendar made me feel about myself].

This challenge may be ending, but I am not stopping... I'm going to swallow my fear and set a goal to [release 50lbs of weight by the end of this year. So I have 16 more to lose in the next 4 months.]

I already knew that embarrassment motivates me, but now I've learned that ___just doing it for me_ motivates me even more.

The thing that I accomplished during this challenge and am MOST PROUD OF is __________. that is really hard to say. Probably is getting together with girl friends to work out and then going out and having fun with them. that is a huge difference for me

Something I didn't expect from this challenge was __________. Now a lite work out is not enough. I want to be covered in sweat

My Starting Weight: 163.5
My Finishing Weight: I don't know. I'm not getting on the scale for several days yet because I still have the swelling from the Advil megadosing I needed to get my 3 days of back spasms more manageable plus there was bingeing of sugary and salty things. So I'm not checking my weight now because honestly it's just not helpful to my psyche to see it high when I know 5 days from now it'll be much lower.

Four Other things I tracked since early July:
1. Waist: 31 inches pretty much the same
2. Hips: 39.5 inches pretty much the same
3. Timed Mile: 8:40 GOT INJURED, DIDN'T GET TO RETEST
4. 100 meter swim: 2:28 minutes GOT INJURED, DIDN'T GET TO RETEST
emoticonemoticonemoticon
When I first started this challenge, I thought that I would lose weight but now I've learned that 2 weeks of vacation and then two weeks dealing with a back injury changed my results.

I already knew that triathlon training with the team motivates me, but now I've learned that setting a half marathon goal motivates me a lot, too.
emoticonemoticonemoticon
The thing that I accomplished during this challenge and am MOST PROUD OF is 1) confronting my open water swim fears head on and doing a fresh water swim and an ocean swim in July. 2) signing up for the Big Sur Half Marathon November 20th and then inviting my sister to do it with me. 3) getting my eating back in gear to nourishing myself pretty well. AND my veggie garden is a happy lush productive nourishing place for my family. Oh, and I got to run in Central Park twice last month while we were there on vacation -- I so felt like the cool kid running there!

Something I didn't expect from this challenge was having 3 days of back spasms leading to frequent Advil medicating (which swells me up fast) and bingeing related to the pain. And I'm STILL working through the dregs of that back injury! OY.
emoticonemoticonemoticon
This challenge may be ending, but I am not stopping... I'm going to swallow my fear and set a goal to FOOD JOURNAL FOR THIRTY DAYS STRAIGHT.

Make a statement declaring your commitment to continue:
I look forward to the sprint triathlon at the end of September and running my first half marathon the weekend before Thanksgiving. I am blowing out my physical boundaries!

Other things I measured:

1. Waist: 41 – down 1 inc
2. Hips: 45 – down ¾ of an in
3. BMI: 37.2 – down 1.8
4. Bicep curl weight (w/dumbbell) 25 lbs – up 5lbs to 30lbs

When I first started this challenge, I thought that I wouldnt see a change in weight or BMI but now I've learned that my body really does love strength training and is the key to my lose.

I already knew that being challenged motivates me, but now I've learned that challenged and being a part of something bigger than me motivates me even more.

The thing that I accomplished during this challenge and am MOST PROUD OF is the start of some ab definiation on the right side. not seeing 6 pack but getting the rib outline to show rocks! My right slide is slow to progress sometimes.

Something I didn't expect from this challenge was how much I'd enjoy tracking and pursuing weekly goals.

This challenge may be ending, but I am not stopping... I'm going to swallow my fear and set a goal to increase cardio next month while maintaining strength. This means getting up early to do so, time to kill the snooze button! Eliminate it!!!!

Make a statement declaring your commitment to continue: I, Jamie, commit to continuing my spark pattern and to ME!!! No one else can achieve my goals or dreams but me, others are a step or a push in the right direction but they cannot do the work! I will eat clean most days of the week, I will not beat myself up if I falter at a meal, I will continue to monitor and question why I am hungry at unusual times to help avoid boredom eating. I will keep up my gym regimen and add in more as I can.

This is for and about me, no one else, just ME!emoticonemoticon

MAN I was not expecting this, looks like I totally bombed the whole challenge. I blame this on eating whatever the heck I wanted for 2 weeks while on vacation. When will I ever learn?????

Four (or more) Other things I will be measuring during this challenge & their current stats: (body measurements, race times, crunch max, jeans size, whatever YOU need to track)
1.Waist - 30.5
(finish) 31
(difference) .5
2. Hips - 40.75
(finish) 41
(difference) .25
3. Thighs - 22.5
(finish) 22.5
(difference)
4. Push ups - 8 Toe Push-ups
(finish) 5?
(difference) -3, what the heck?????

When I first started this challenge, I thought that “I had 21 pounds to lose and that it was doable”, but now I've learned that “it will only happen if quit sabotaging my hard workout efforts by replacing those burned calories with junky food”.

I already knew that “seeing progress” motivates me, but now I've learned that “other’s seeing the same progress” motivates me even more.

The thing that I accomplished during this challenge and am MOST PROUD OF is “that the further distance I run, the better I feel about myself, and the more I think about what I’m putting into my body.”

Something I didn't expect from this challenge was to “follow through, and participate in all the weekly challenges, even if my results are not as good as I wanted, or as good as others, I stuck it out and let the rest of ya know I’m human, and can set myself backwards too!”
This challenge may be ending, but I am not stopping... I'm going to swallow my fear and set a goal to “make this fall the last time I need to work at losing 20+ lbs, these pounds will be gone before I turn 34 in January”

Make a statement declaring your commitment to continue:

I, MsPris3, commit becoming, healthier/fitter/stronger/leaner/Sexier and to make others say “Wow, you look amazing!” before my 34th birthday

Hm, better than I thought. Comparing finish/start stuff is so fun :)

You can turn all the hard work I've done against me. But I'll still give my best - and guess what, my best is better than yours.

My Starting Weight: 103.05 kg

emoticon My Finishing Weight: 99.05 kg 4kg lost. YEAY!

emoticon Four (or more) Other things I will be measuring during this challenge & their current stats: (body measurements, race times, crunch max, jeans size, whatever YOU need to track)
1. Waist:
Start: 123 cm
Finish: 120 cm
Difference: 3 cm
2. Hips:
Start: 135 cm
Finish: 131 cm
Difference: 4 cm
3. Thigh:
Start: 80 cm
Finish: 79 cm
Difference: 1 cm
4. How may laps I can swim before starting to drown:
Start: 10
Finish: 15
Difference: 5

emoticon When I first started this challenge, I thought that I AM TOO HEAVY TO ENJOY EXERCISING AND SWIMMING but now I've learned that SWIMMING ESPECIALLY MAKES ME FEEL GOOD AND IS A KILLER WORKOUT. I SHAKE VERY TIME I GET OUT OF THE POOL.

emoticon I already knew that THAT BIKINI motivates me, but now I've learned that HAVING ENERGY FROM EXERCISING motivates me even more.

emoticon The thing that I accomplished during this challenge and am MOST PROUD OF is LOSING 4 KG. THAT DIDN’T HAPPEN IN A VERY LONG TIME.

emoticon Something I didn't expect from this challenge was LOSING SO MUCH ON MY HIPS! But it’s awesome!

emoticon This challenge may be ending, but I am not stopping... I'm going to swallow my fear and set a goal to TRY SOMETHING NEW. START TO BREAK UP MY EXERCISE UP INTO TWICE A DAY, IN THE MORNING AND EVENING, SO THAT I CAN HAVE MORE TIME TO DO REALLY GREAT WORKOUTS, INCLUDING A LOT OF STRENGTH TRAINING.

emoticon Make a statement declaring your commitment to continue: I FEEL BETTER, MY CLOTHES FIT BETTER, I LOOK BETTER, I AM NOT STOPPING, NO MATTER WHAT!!!

emoticon My Starting Weight: 212.8

emoticon My Finishing Weight: ok...as of today 212.4, but I think TOM is right around the corner, and as of 3 days ago....I SAW 209.8. That's the lowest number that stupid scale has shown in ages. I'm used to a lot of fluctuating, and as long as I can keep the overall trend going the right direction, not bad I say.

Four (or more) Other things I will be measuring during this challenge & their current stats: (body measurements, race times, crunch max, jeans size, whatever YOU need to track)

1. Max girly push ups: start = 4. finish = 7. Uh yeah.
2. Jeans size: start and finish seems about the same to me, 20W are loose and 18W are tight
3. Energy level: start 3 out of 10, finish 7 or 8 out of 10. Feeling pretty good.
4. Stress level: start = a 12 out of 10, finish = 3 or 4 out of 10.

When I first started this challenge, I thought that GIVING UP WOULDN'T BE SUCH A BAD IDEA but now I've learned that EVEN IF I DON'T FEEL LIKE I'M MAKING PROGRESS, EVEN IF I FEEL LIKE FAILING IS THE ONLY THING I'LL EVER DO CONSISTENTLY, THAT'S A LOAD OF BS. SHOWING UP IS BETTER THAN DROPPING OUT. I CAN'T FOOL MYSELF RIGHT NOW. I'M STILL BUILDING A FOUNDATION, AND NOT JUST A FITNESS BASE, MY MENTAL FOUNDATION IS THIS WHOLE PROCESS HAS TO CHANGE.

I already knew that POSITIVE EXTERNAL FEEDBACK motivate me, but now I've learned that FREE ASPHALT/STICKY MAT THERAPY FEELING motivates me even more.

The thing that I accomplished during this challenge and am MOST PROUD OF is NOT GIVING UP. I DIDN'T LET MYSELF GO INTO COCCOON SURVIVAL MODE WHEN I GOT ALL WACKY. I EVEN MET WITH A LOCAL SPARKER FOR A WALK. HOW OUT OF MY ANTISOCIAL COMFORT BUBBLE IS THAT? HUH?!

Something I didn't expect from this challenge was HOW MUCH OUT OF THE BOX TIME I SPENT (AT LEAST OUT OF MY USUAL ROUTINE). I TOOK A VISITING FRIEND TO THE GYM WITH ME FOR CRYING OUT LOUD. I MET WITH A LOCAL SPARKER (WHO I'D NEVER MET BEFORE) FOR A WALK. I WENT FOR MORNING WALKS. I DID YOGA WITHOUT A VIDEO/MP3 CUE. DIFFERENT. AND COOL.

This challenge may be ending, but I am not stopping... I'm going to swallow my fear and set a goal to TACKLE THE NEW STRENGTH TRAINING CHALLENGE, SERIOUSLY, (NOT ATTENDANCE ONLY). I NORMALLY END UP FOCUSING MORE ON CARDIO. I LEANED A LITTLE HEAVIER ON YOGA THIS ROUND. TIGHTEN AND TONE NEXT TIME. I'M ALL IN.

Make a statement declaring your commitment to continue:

ONE DAY AT A TIME. NEVER QUIT. KEEP FIGHTING FOR IT.

Four (or more) Other things I will be measuring during this challenge & their current stats: (body measurements, race times, crunch max, jeans size, whatever YOU need to track)
1. (start)Muffin top: 45 inches
(finish)Muffin top: 42 inches
(difference) 3 inches
2. (start) Boobs: 40DDD
(finish) Boobs: 38DD/DDD
(difference) One size around and still floating between DD and DDD
3. (start) Plank Hold: 30 seconds
(finish) Plank Hold: 45 seconds
(difference) 15 seconds
4. (start) Jean Size:20W
(finish) Jean Size: 18/18W
(difference) 1-1 1/2 size

When I first started this challenge, I thought that I WOULD HAVE GIVEN UP BEFORE IT'S OVER but now I've learned that I DO HAVE THE WILL POWER TO STICK WITH SOMETHING I'M FEELING GOOD ABOUT DOING FOR MYSELF.

I already knew that PUSHING MYSELF motivates me, but now I've learned that SETTING SMALL GOALS motivates me even more.

The thing that I accomplished during this challenge and am MOST PROUD OF is THE ABILITY TO FEEL THAT I COULD ACTUALLY COMPETE IN A REAL RACE AND ACTUALLY FINISH.

Something I didn't expect from this challenge was THE CONSTANT SUPPORT FROM FELLOW SPARKPEOPLE- LOVE YOU GUYS!.

This challenge may be ending, but I am not stopping... I'm going to swallow my fear and set a goal to PUSH MYSELF FURTHER BECAUSE I'VE PROVEN THAT I CAN DO IT.

Make a statement declaring your commitment to continue:
I AM GOING TO CONTINUE MY "EARN MY BODY" CHALLENGE BECAUSE I AM SEEING THE RESULTS FINALLY AFTER A LONG PLATEAU. I'M MOTIVATED AND THIRSTY FOR MORE BECAUSE I CAN DO IT!

2. WAIST

4. C25K
(start) I was still on week 1 and super frustrated!
(finish) After an injury, I finally learned that programs aren't always built for everyone. I'm still doing run/walk intervals, but they are at my own pace, and although it's slow, I am progressing.
(difference) I'm FINALLY listening to my body and enjoying my runs so much more because of it!

When I first started this challenge, I thought that __(workout programs were basically one-size-fits-all)__ but now I've learned that __(through trial and error and not giving up, you can find something that works for you that you actually ENJOY!)__.

I already knew that __(the fear of wearing a bathing suit in public)__ motivates me, but now I've learned that __(watching the changes that take place when I actually put forth an effort)__ motivates me even more.

The thing that I accomplished during this challenge and am MOST PROUD OF is __(finally learning to listen to my body)__.

Something I didn't expect from this challenge was __(gaining, then going back to my start weight, yet still losing inches. WEIRD, but I'll take it!)__.

This challenge may be ending, but I am not stopping... I'm going to swallow my fear and set a goal to __(GET STRONG!)__.

BIG THANK YOU TO YOOVIE FOR DOING THIS CHALLENGE!

emoticonemoticonemoticonemoticonemoticonemoticon

My Starting Weight: 6/30 was 213.4
My Finishing Weight:7/15 was 211.8

Four (or more) Other things I will be measuring during this challenge & their current stats: (body measurements, race times, crunch max, jeans size, whatever YOU need to track)
1. (start) Waist 42
(finish) Waist 41
(difference) down 1 whole inch!

2. (start) Hips 45
(finish) Hips 43
(difference) down 2 whole inches!!!

3. (start) Bust 39
(finish) Bust 37.5
(difference) down 1.5 (not wild about that one but I can work on firming up)

4. (start) jeans 18
(finish) jeans 18
(difference) wanted to fit into size 16 but the 18s are looser so I will get into the 16 soon

When I first started this challenge, I thought that I WAS NOT SEXY OR COMFORTABLE IN MY OWN SKIN but now I've learned that I AM SEXY AND THAT I AM WORTH ALL THE TIME & EFFORT.

I already knew that KEEPING MY GOALS CLOSE motivates me, but now I've learned that BELIEF IN MYSELF motivates me even more.

The thing that I accomplished during this challenge and am MOST PROUD OF is FINISHING! I MADE A COMMITMENT TO STICK THIS CHALLENGE OUT UNTIL THE END –NO MATTER WHAT.

Something I didn't expect from this challenge was THE SCALE DID NOT MOVE THAT MUCH BUT INCHES CAME OFF FROM ALL OVER MY BODY!

This challenge may be ending, but I am not stopping... I'm going to swallow my fear and set a goal to COMPLETE THE C25K PROGRAM ONCE AND FOR ALL - NOT TO STOP PART WAY BUT TO FINISH ALL THE WAY TO THE VERY END OF THE PROGRAM. TO BUILD UP MY RUNNING UNTIL I CAN RUN 3 MILES NON STOP.

Make a statement declaring your commitment to continue:
I WILL START THE C25K PROGRAM ON WEEK 3 DAY 1 AND WILL CONTINUE UNTIL I HAVE COMPLETED WEEK 9 DAY 3. EVEN IF I HAVE TO REPEAT A WEEK UNTIL I CONQUER IT. I WILL NOT GIVE UP ON MYSELF. I WILL TRAIN MY BODY AND MY MIND TO RUN 3 MILES NON-STOP.
I WILL START THIS PROGRAM ON TUESDAY, AUGUST 16, 2011.

LOVED this challenge! The fact that I made it to the end is the icing on the cake... and that is all calorie free!

My Starting Weight: 220.6
My Finishing Weight: 216.0
GRAND TOTAL: -4.6 WAHOO!!!!

Four (or more) Other things I will be measuring during this challenge & their current stats: (body measurements, race times, crunch max, jeans size, whatever YOU need to track)
1. (start) Waist - 44 inches
(finish) - 43 inches
(difference) -1 Woot!!!
2. (start) Jeans - Size 16
(finish) fit not so elegantly into a pair of size 14 shorts from Target!
(difference) One size... so it may not be "pretty" yet but it will be before the summer is over!!!
3. (start) Biking - To work 1x per week
(finish) 3x per week to work - Nailed it!
(difference) Saves me $4.50 a day on CTA fare AND it's 12.5 miles for the RT!
4. (start) 5k - Couldn't run one
(finish) Still can't run one, but let's be honest, Rome wasn't built in a day. Didn't think that one through!
(difference) I *CAN* run a full .25 miles now. If I have the right coctail of allergy meds and asthma meds, I could do a full .5 miles!!! More to come!

When I first started this challenge, I thought that *I would never make it to the end of this challenge because I am a constant quitter* but now I've learned that *I can actually stick with something to the end!*.

I already knew that *working out with others* motivate me, but now I've learned that *I can do it all by myself too* to motivate me even more.

The thing that I accomplished during this challenge and am MOST PROUD OF is *Keeping my commitment and proving that I can do it!*.

Something I didn't expect from this challenge was *to be so physically active*
This challenge may be ending, but I am not stopping... I'm going to swallow my fear and set a goal to make it down to a size 12 by my birthday 11/18.

Make a statement declaring your commitment to continue:
I WILL CONTINUE THIS JOURNEY AND MAKE SOMETHING OF MYSELF. I AM BEAUTIFUL INSIDE AND DESERVE TO BE BEAUTIFUL ON THE OUTSIDE TOO!!!

Darn! I know I did not do as good as I could have, I know I lost some, but I also know I gained some back!

Will post tonight or tomorrow morning.

Next challenge please

My Starting Weight: 160.8
My Finishing Weight: 157.0 (not as good as it could have been)

Four (or more) Other things I will be measuring during this challenge & their current stats: (body measurements, race times, crunch max, jeans size, whatever YOU need to track)
1. Pant Size: 14 (start)
1. Pant Size: 12 (finish)
2. BMI: 28.6 (start)
2. BMI: 28 (finish)
3. Pushups Completed in One Set: 30 (start)
3. Pushups Completed in One Set: 45 (finish)
4. Miles Run on Long Run Day: 13.1 (start)
4. Miles Run on Long Run Day: 14.0 (finish)

When I first started this challenge, I thought that I needed to lose like crazy this summer but now I've learned that every healthy benefit I have is a win - not just poundage lost.

I already knew that Running motivates me, but now I've learned that I motivate myself even more.

The thing that I accomplished during this challenge and am MOST PROUD OF is I completed my first Half Marathon - plus continued to run, even in the heat of Calgary. This last one is important because it has been discouraging to take FOREVER to run something I used to be able to do much quicker. But I'm glad I stuck with it.

Something I didn't expect from this challenge was to not lose much weight, and stay around the same.

This challenge may be ending, but I am not stopping... I'm going to swallow my fear and set a goal to continue my downward trend - and get to my next goal of 153.

Make a statement declaring your commitment to continue:

I am strong, I am willing, and I am beautiful. I can do anything I put my mind to, and there is no reason to quit because I don't even know what that means.

Running is a big question mark that's there each and every days. It asks you, "Are you going to be a wimp or are you going to be strong today?"

First off, I just want to say that Yoovie is a great motivator, and a beautiful selfless person that helps so many people with her precious time when she could be spending that time on herself... so even though I did not follow the assignments, I still have appreciation and respect for the challenge itself. Thanks for everything you do, Yoovie! I'm saying that also for the people who never tell you thank you!

Now, with that said, since I posted an entry blog, I have to conclude it:

So, here is where I stand at the end of this challenge:

emoticonMy Starting Weight: 211.0
emoticonMy Finishing Weight: 202.5

Four (or more) Other things I will be measuring during this challenge & their current stats: (body measurements, race times, crunch max, jeans size, whatever YOU need to track)
emoticon1. Hips/Saddle bags: Start: 47.5 End: 46.5
emoticon2. Running Distance (without walking) Start: 1.79 miles without stopping to walk a little. End: 2.5 miles
emoticon3. Jeans currently size, 18 - want to be comfortable in my size 16 Calvins by the end of this challenge. End: I can wear those size 16's now.
emoticon4. Waist: Start: 35" End: 35" wtf?

I'll have this in by tomorrow - I like weighing out in the morning when I can be the lightest possible :)

YOOVIE, will you post the ST challenge for a wider audience too? This is my weakest area and extra motivation is always welcomed!

You can exceed what you think you can do.
