Hey All. Just joined this team and want to join the loose a pound a week challenge....

Starting weight 198.5 lbs

I love reading through all these posts and hope to gain a few grains of wisdom on what works for all of you and what doesn't. I am so excited to be back on Sparks after a 2 year's absence. I really need the support. I will be checking in next week to let you know how it goes.

Weight lost this week: 2
Total weight lost: 8 lb
Current weight: 210.8

What worked: Drinking water, as much as I hate it. Selectively choosing my daily treat. Small rice krispie treats are working well. Eating more vegetables and some fruits without any significant digestive consequences. Limiting trips to coffee shop to once per week, enjoying every sip.

What didn't work: Still struggling with lunches. If they're worth eating and enough to fill me up, they end up being over 500 calories, leaving me little or nothing for dinner! Also, the first few pounds came off so easily, and it's hard to confront them slowing down, even though I recognize that it was inevitable. Over the weekend I gained a pound, but lost it, and a half pound to go with it, so on balance, it was small, but okay. Also, scheduling exercise. Saturday I treaded water for an hour, so I'm hoping that was enough to burn off the junk food I ate (which honestly wasn't that much). Also, still struggling with my addiction to pop.

Goals/Rewards:

180 - Pedicure
170 - Weekend getaway with husband
162 - New workout clothes
150 - New pair of jeans
146 - Massage
132 - New professional wardrobe
130 - Tummy tuck

I, too, wish I had started a year ago. No, that's not entirely accurate. I did start a year ago. And a year before that, and four months before that. I just wish I had KEPT UP with it for the past year+. Now, I find myself at my heaviest weight EVER (including the day I gave birth to my 8-pound child), and with nothing to show for it (except, of course, for the 20 pounds in bounceback weight gain after every failure).

This time is going to be different. I'm going to just suck it up and do it. So, here goes:

Starting weight: 219
Week number: 1
Weight lost this week: 6
Total weight lost: 6 lb
Current weight: 213

What worked: Cut out my morning trip to Dunkin Donuts. Mostly cut out my morning trips to a different coffee shop. Limiting myself to one per week. Also eating way more vegetables than I care to think about and forcing myself to drink tons of water (I loathe water and literally have to choke it down).

What didn't work: I've been tinkering with my lunches. A lean cuisine doesn't fill me up. I spend the rest of the day with a growly stomach and a surly disposition. So I tried adding a side salad, but that ends up putting my lunches into the 500-600 calorie range! That's outrageous! I could have a cheeseburger or something and actually enjoy it. Also, because of circumstances, we have to eat out tonight. I'm already pretty short on calories for the rest of the day and there's just no way I can eat anything of substance at dinner and not go over. Sad to see the impending day's failure at only 2pm! Makes me way to say "screw it" and gorge on something unhealthy.

Also, a lot of the weight loss is attributable to water weight, you ladies know what I mean. So next week is sure to be a let down, no matter how well I do. Trying to prepare myself for that ahead of time.

Goals/Rewards:

180 - Pedicure
170 - Weekend getaway with husband
162 - New workout clothes
150 - New pair of jeans
146 - Massage
132 - New professional wardrobe
130 - Tummy tuck

Quick update from me! Still on prednisone, but at a vastly reduced dose.

I have lost 2 pounds of the 11 prednisone pounds I put on since January, but I can't complain - I got my vision back! YAY!

My tracker will not be showing that 11 lbs, lol, but I am feeling good enough to get back in the game!

Hi guys,

nice to see everyone going! I was in a serious depression after my Mom died in Oct 2012. That is why I disappeared. I am trying to snap out of it now that I have gained all the weight I lost and kept going up! I have now hit 244. Sigh.

A year from now you may wish you had started today. ~Karen Lamb

Measurements:the measurements are not awful considering how heavy I am right now! 46 hips 37 waist 41 bust!

What didn't work eating everything in sight, no exercise and working long hours. Allowing myself to get depressed.

What worked, giving myself a kick in the butt to get moving again!

See you guys next Saturday.

Hello Everyone

My first post here. As someone noted, I "wish I had started this LAST year"!!
Well, we will begin from the "now" and go forward. My goal is a bright red dress (it is hanging in my closet) for Christmas!! So far, I have lost 12 lbs, and what works for me is no excuses for not going to the park with my dog, and enjoying her happiness as we walk together for 30 minutes daily. Also, enjoying bread once a week as a treat, instead of 4 or 5 times every day. I am a sandwich fanatic. Now I have a very low -cal, good tasting whole wheat bread, that I have on Sundays..

It's rewarding pull out the old clothes, and get closer to getting back in those jeans!! Slow and steady this time, instead of starvation and re-gain!! Whole new way of LIFE

Good luck to everyone. Will see y'all soon

What works sticking to my calorie allotment, measuring my food, and hitting the gym as often as I can.

A positive for me this morning. I was digging through some clothes and found a pair of capris that I bought last summer that ended up being way too tight. I never did return them. Tried them on this morning, and they fit!!! I can button them with no problem!! Now if the weather will get warm sometime I will get a chance to wear them before they come too big!! emoticon

Big set back to plan - and life. Developed an 'infiltrative psuedoturmor" behind my eye that has interferred with my vision. (and brain, and facial nerves). Being treated for that with high dose steroids and have seen some improvement. Dont know where it will end. It has really thown me for a loop, but I am determined to figure out how to get my eating back in line and a way to get some exercise in. Right now I am still bathing myself in comfort food and sitting in a curled up ball, contemplating the way my life will change if I cant get my vision back completely. Must break out of this.

will do housework today. that will get me moving. Also need to assess the food situation and develop a plan to consume it with out damaging myself!

Life is what happens while you are making other plans.

What didn't work: Christmas Party at Kirby's Steakhouse and that sinfully delicious cheesecake! Followed by a Christmas Kid's Santa Party at Itz with their delicous pasta & chili cheese dogs for dinner!

What worked: Being more active throughout the day. When I go to the bathroom, I make a lap completely around the floor. Also started walking down a flight of stairs to floor below, walk around to the other stairwell and then walk back up to my floor. Alternating between the two throughout the day made a big difference. Also started doing bicycles and leg lifts before getting out of bed at 3 sets of 15 reps each.

Measurements: My measurements were up but I used a tape measure this time so feel their more accurate. Hopefully next Monday will show more progress!

Wow not 215 but still exactly on target for 1 pound a week! My HealthyRoads counsellor suggested that I drink an 8 oz glass of water for every 20 lbs that I way daily. Didn't do it everyday last week but will definitely focus on doing it this week!

Ok, the desk is cleared. The temp job is over, I am back from a two week visit with my daughter while my second grandchild was born, and I came back LIGHTER than I went!

I am so excited to be below the 200 lb mark again! (60 lbs to go.)

Time to get back into the groove; working out, watching intake and LOOKING FOR WORK.

As I need the extra incentive and push, I'd like to join this challenge. I usually weigh-in on Sundays and will try to post either Sunday or Monday.

Starting weight: 215
Week number: 1

We hae a program at work called HealthyRoad and the counselor recently told me that for every 20 lbs I weigh I need to have 8 oz of water. At my current weight, that's a total of 10 - 11 8 oz glasses of water per day (86 oz total per day). Will give it a try for a week and see what a difference it makes!

There is no start or finish date for this goal.

In the last 4 weeks I have only lost 2 pounds. But I am excited since you can see my body composition changing thanks to the weight lifting.

I feel great and I hope you all feel the same!

Ok...I am early, but the scale read 179 today! Felt good to see some results. 3 weeks gone since I started the gym and with 6 pounds gone that means I have lost 2 pounds a week. Slow and steady right? Plus, week 3 is not finished til Saturday. I wasn't supposed to weigh myself today, but I wanted to see if my results would change if I took away the weight training. It did. I think I will hold off on heavy weight training until I am around 150.

You can do it orange81! I'm going to do it too. I hope that you love the skin you're in while you lose your weight. I hate that society leads us to think that we're unattractive when we're overweight. I'm focusing on 1-2 lbs a week and am going to be very satisfied with 1 if that's all I get. I did not gain this weight at 4-5 lbs a week because if I did, I would have freaked out and dieted as I gained. Losing is going to be slow & I'm ok with that emoticon

I lost 1.4 pound again this week and I sometimes wish it was 4-5 pounds a week but I need to go slow and really learn to have a healthy lifestyle because I am sick of throwing it all away and gaining it back. I have not figured out why I do that and I want this to be the last time to take off the pounds. I don't want to be 5 foot 3 and 200 pounds of yuck. I want to get to 140 then see from there about going down to a lower weight. I just read and try to journal and find out why I think I am to good to count calories, eat healthy and crave junk junk junk! I have seen so many others take it off and work to keep it off. This time I can do it

I forgot to check in on Monday. I gained two pounds back. My trainer said it was muscle and not to be discouraged as I am losing inches. I guess.....but I must admit it is still a buzz kill. My plan this week is to just focus on cardio.

Here is to this week!!!

Great job on walking 3-4 days a week! I've got to get my bootie out there and do some walking. I'm trying to focus on healthy eating habits first.

Hi everyone! Good job making healthy choices for yourselves.

Even if all you do for this week is come here for some support, that at least maintains your motivation to keep going forward. That alone is more than most of us had before starting! Keys to success. :)

I have maintained my weight this past week. No loss.

I'm trying not to lose weight so that I do not even accidentally lose muscle before surgery, or flux my blood sugar, or change how my medications work. Monday, 9/17, is the big day and then I will have a solid 6-9 months of limited activity.

All I've been doing is staying at the upper end of my calorie intake rather than lower and have maintained well. Still walking 3-4 days a week, but that's also limited due to the injury. I can't wait to be on to fitness again!

Keep up the good work y'all. I'll check back as I can, but you guys and your continued success will be in my thoughts!

I am a returning member, realizing that I need some kind of support, boost, accountability to get me back on track!

One of my goals is to get my waist down to 35". That's 10" to lose. That's a lot of poundage.

My weight has ballooned up to 211.5. I am eating better, but I am fighting medication weight gain. I have not been logging my food intake. I have not been getting my exercise in.

I have not, I have not, I have not.....

Well, that's gotta change to I HAVE.

One of the tools that I KNOW works is SparkPeople, so here I am again, with high hopes of losing that pound a week. I am ready to start now!

I will post my progress (or lack thereof - but that's not gonna happen) on Mondays, starting today.

Starting weight: 211.5
Starting waist: 45"

Wish me luck, and I will see you around the boards!

Thanks Turtle Avenger!

Great job avoiding the pizza Tokye emoticon emoticon

After my first 5 days at the gym, I lost 5 pounds!!! The trainer told me that the goal of 140 may not be healthy for me. WTF? I can not imagine why. I have 123 pounds of lean muscle mass. his recommendation is 150. I don't see the difference. Oh well, I may get a second opinion or re evaluate when I get to 165.

I started off this week 185. I am ending it at 180.

Here is to the sucess of my first week! emoticon emoticon emoticon

I know it is only 4 days later but.......(wait for it).......I LOST 4 POUNDS!!!!!!!!!! Woohooo! I am absolutely burnt. 45 min tread equals 460 cals burnt. I love it!!! I was 181 today. I have one more day at the gym tomorrow. Sunday has no kids club. I must push myself to do 6 days. Having the kids club makes all the difference.

I am at 185 :( That changes now! Can't wait to check in again soon! I promise to check in no matter what now.

Hello my friends, and new friends too! Good to catch up with you all and your progress. Go team!

Sorry I've been out. I have major damage in my shoulder and will be having 3 repairs in it on Sept 17. My exercise has been limited to managing the shoulder through physical therapy and walking 3 days a week. Even walking hurts, so I limit that to 30 minutes.

On the up side, I have managed my diet fairly well. When I posted last I was stuck around 220-222. Now I'm down to 214!

A lower number that I haven't seen in more years than I even can recall!

I've been painting a lot and will start selling my work after surgery, while I'm recovering and less active otherwise. I already have some interested buyers! Blessings all around.

I really do think that focusing on things that I enjoy and slowing down on the exercise may have actually been a major influence in my recent weight loss. But who can say for sure?

Anyway, that's where I am today. Good luck to you all with this week's pound and keep fighting the good fight. :)

Hi everyone! I just found this challenge and decided that it was something that I really wanted to try. I really need all the motivation that I can get to achieve my ultimate goal of losing 50-60 pounds.

I'm starting this challenge at 194 pounds and will weigh in on Mondays.

Starting weight: 239
Week number: 21
Weight lost this week: 2 actually this happened over the past month
Total weight lost: 21 lbs
Current weight: 218.0

What didn't work:still no scale but weigh in at the pharmacy.  It took one whole month to lose 2 pounds!  I have not been posting here. No food logging while on holiday. Twisted my knee while on holiday.

What worked:riding and swimming and stretching! The food choices have been great! A little of everything and lots of vegetables and chili! Cooked a lot while on holiday instead of buying food outside.

Measurements:the measurements actually went up, very strange! 43 hips 34 waist 39 bust!

Wow not 215 but still exactly on target for 1 pound a week! Yowser!!! I usually stall here so I am sooooo happy.  Now I need to to keep eating home cooked food!  On to the next 21 pounds!

I am looking forward to hearing about your journey. It took the whole month to lose the last two months but hey at least I am going in the right direction.

I am also a returning member. Have not been on here in quite a while.

What works for me is reading motivating weight loss stories, and exercise. On the days I exercise I EAT better. I don't want to undo what I did.

Another thing that works for me is Counting calories(otherwise I underestimate what I eat) and PLANNING what I am going to eat for the whole day either first thing in the morning, or the day before. That way I don't have to think about it.

Hello all,

I am a returning member of SparkPeople. I would also like to join in on this. I try to weigh once a week on Mondays around the same time.

When I join Spark a few years ago I was weighing 425 lbs. I lost 100lbs and picked so much of it back up. I have since lost 11lbs since May 30, 2012. I am a part of a support group of 3 individuals and we are helping each other ( I have introduced them to SparkPeople).

Please share any good tips that you all have to help loose 1lb a week!

I am back......

I ended up gaining five more pounds then I started. :( So I decided to start with some smaller goals. This first week I decided to work on late night eating. I have done a great job. It was hard the first few nights, but I guess it is like riding a bike since my body adjusted quickly. I have lost the five pounds I gained combining this goal with light workouts. I wake up feeling great. My tracker doesn't calculate my comeback, but it is ok.

Since I am even with my tracker on weight now, I will start this challenge over at 180.

Talk to you guys later!

What didn't work:hehe still have not bought a scale but the scales reading from 220 to 225.  What that means is I have lost weight no matter what scale I am using ;). I am boldface enough to use the lower weight! struggled to get exercise in this week. Only did three sessions this week.  I also did not check in here:(

What worked:riding and swimming and stretching! The food choices have been great! A little of everything and lots of vegetables and chili!

Measurements:the measurements are great! 42 hips 34 waist 38 bust!

This is usually the point where I stall!  20 pounds down since I started back SP!  This is where I wanted to be in August but I will take it in July, lol.  Does that mean in August I can see 215? I have not seen 215 since I was at university in 1995!

Sorry...been out of touch with Spark lately. My acupuncturist is having me "let go of some control" on counting every calories that hits my lips. Oi...so not easy for a calorie counting addict! lol Plus I got injured so I've not been able to work out much. I'm down to 205...so still losing despite letting go of the control. We'll see how it goes in the weeks ahead. I keep the litany going in my head...Quality not Quantity. I'm still careful with portion size and my diet really hasn't changed....Plant based, with fruits being my primary carb. Wish me luck!!!!!

Wow, Arochford! Looks like you're making progress you can count, regardless of the scale problems. Go team!

I'm still in a holding pattern myself. My weight is still up and down between 220-222.

I over-extended my left shoulder during the martial arts portion of my training program. I threw a punch and I could just feel it give out. I think I may have torn something because I can't use the arm much.

This is my "resting week" between phases of the training. Perfect timing. So, I'm just focusing on diet for this week.

I may work on an oil painting or two I have in progress, to help "feed my spirit" (as my mother calls it).

I'm still staying positive and moving forward!

What didn't work: I have been struggling and snacking. I even missed logging here last week! Struggling with finding a scale.  I still have not bought a new one and I have not gone back to the gym. Scales I have been on reading anywhere from 224 to 231

What worked: continued to exercise at least three times a week. Staying under2000 calories. Recording my food even when they are awful choices. Drinking lots of water. Doing a lot of cooking for myself and the family.

Measurements: my work clothes are looking baggy and I lost 2 inches on my hips and thighs!  It must be the cycling! My hips are now 42.5 and the thighs are now 24!

Looking like we're steaming ahead on this thread!

I'm in a holding pattern since losing the 3 pounds.

I've been doing that new intense workout program which includes a LOT of strength training. So I've been battling 2-3 pounds of water weight, up and down, depending on training days. But I do keep going back down, so I'm not really netting any gain or loss.

It's hard to see the pounds move up and down on the scale. But I'm trying to keep a good head on my shoulders, because it is VERY common with intense strength training to get some water weight from swelling muscles.

On the plus side, I have lost 3/4 of an inch through my entire mid-section!

That muscle and toning is coming in nicely. You can see new definition in my arms and legs and change of shape in my torso. And, I did get to up my weights last week!

Good stuff is happening!

Sounds like you had an amazing week AROCHFORD! I got on the scale Wed and I lost another 2 lbs. When I told my Acupuncturist he just chuckled and said that is why he doesn't want me weighing myself more than once a week! He said that I lost 2lbs the previous week and the scale didn't show it because of water gain. (pre-cycle week) So I technically have been losing 2lbs or so per week and the scale will not always be accurate. Ok...maybe so, but I am still sitting at 207 and this is seriously exciting! lol

LTTLFT9 Welcome to the thread! Thanks for the positive reinforcement;)

Winterhartt it was great that you did not gain! That 4 pound loss last week was amazing. You are right your body has to catch itself!

Whoo hoo Turtle Avenger that is great 3 pounds is wonderful!

I am on holiday by myself. No kids no hubby. It feels so strange;). Sleep, workout, eat, sleep again. I didn't realize I was so weary. Anyway no scale here but I took a pic in the bath suit. I think it looks a lot smaller. When I go back home I definitely have to find a scale.

Down 3 pounds, to 220!

The teens are in my future, I can see it!

We had been sitting on the p90x series (intense workout videos) and waiting to get all the equipment, protein shakes, etc., to start. I realized that since most of my foot problems are from the distance walking, maybe it was time to change up the routine.

Without ado, I started the p90x! This intense working out helped keep my diet more inline than it had been. And, it hasn't hurt my foot so far. The padded flooring in my home gym helps a lot.

I saw the podiatrist yesterday and he signed off on everything. Yay!

Well, I haven't lost anything this week. Still sitting at 211. I'm not surprised though since I lost 4 last week. The good news is...I'm not gaining! I know I haven't done anything "wrong" with my nutrition or exercise. My body is just taking a break but now it's time to wake it back up! I refuse to be down about it though because today is my acupuncture appointment, and he will "wake" everything up, put things back into line and I'll be right back on track!

A year from now you may wish you had started today. ~Karen Lamb

Starting weight: 239
Week number: 11
Weight lost this week: -2.0
Total weight lost: 8.4lbs
Current weight: 230.6

What didn't work: made brownies and had lots to drink that was not water this week

What worked:did a full week of training with all three disciplines so that felt great. Tracked most days. Stayed within calories most days. I really don't understand what's going on with the scale. My clothes are fitting much better.

Measurements: Measurement remained the same!. 38-33-43 my belly button is starting to look normal again after nine years! Wore my size 13 short shorts. They looked great on the legs. Still muffin topping. Let's hope the scale goes back down. I am using the scale that was giving crazy readings last week. It had me at 213 which I knew was wrong (unfortunately). Wish me luck this week I am going away for a week and I plan on making it an exercise filled holiday with lots of sleep!

No problem TURTLE_AVENGER. The way I see it is my legs are only part of my body...I still can get my heart rate up with the rest! And it isn't so much as being addicted to exercise but more of being addicted to feeling good...it makes being happy easier!

Good luck!!

WINTERHARTT-

Thanks for that!

I did find some strengthening videos I could easily do for today.

But I'll look some of your suggestions. I like the heart-pumping feeling. I think I'm a little addicted to it, actually. :)

CTISDELL-

My only trick with the junk food is to not keep any real junky food in the house, thus forcing me to go out and eat it. And, it's a good self-cue if you're eating a whole 12'' pizza for lunch. lol!

I do allow myself to go out to eat junk food. But my lazy bones/cheapskate ways can help me not do that very often. Unfortunately, we made a lot of convenience store stops and pizza stops while traveling over the holiday weekend and it caught up with me.

My in-home junk food is things like: 72% cocoa chocolate. Godiva is the best, less biter. Fat free Cool Whip and frozen raspberries or peaches. Pirate's Booty and 97% fat free microwave popcorn (for my chips/salty attacks). And diet soda.

It's hard to do a lot of damage with those, at least. But, somehow, sitting on my butt all week has made it a bit easier to reach for an extra serving or two.... ahem.

@ Turtle_Avenger....There are still plenty of different aerobic things that you can do with your upper body. I use a punching bag...modifying it for my Achilles tendonitis. I put a padded chair next to me where I lean my knee on it so that I don't accidentally hop the bad foot or put to much stress on it. Speed punching is great aerobic. Going to the pool and putting a float belt on you can use your arms to pull you through the water, water jog, kick...all kinds of things and that doesn't put any stress on the Achilles tendon. When it starts healing you can ride a bike. Just make sure you put support on your ankle. I'm just now allowed to walk at a comfortable pace up to 1/2 hour a day....if my achilles tendon doesn't hurt. I'm still able to burn 5,000 calories a week though by all the alternatives that I do.

Good for you TurtleAvenger! You reconized and fixed your crap eating spree! Teach me the cues, ok?

My scale is either broken or my water weight is extremely fluctuating as I weighed only 178 this morning. 7 pounds in 5 days seems extreme but I guess I'll take it as a positive.

5/28 185
6/01 178

In addition to my sugar addiction, I am a late night eater now as well. My goal this month is to not eat after 8 and be in bed 11.

Gained 2 pounds. Up to 223.

After being diagnosed with an over-use injury and told to stay on flat ground, I went to Cape Cod over the holiday weekend. And appear to have caused some micro-tears in my Achilles tendon and calf muscle.

So, I've been on my butt since and have gained back 2 pounds. Okay, I may have gained back 2 pounds because I ate crap the whole holiday weekend and then got unexpectedly stuck on the couch.

I did self-correct and start eating better, so I stopped gaining. I noticed that the calories I was used to eating (from walking 5 miles 5-6 days a week) took a couple days to get down to eating for sitting around.

I'm diabetic and on medication, so it's hard to adjust dietary stuff.

On the up side:

I'm not beating myself up for the 2 pounds. I am going to go to my home gym today and see if I can find some good exercise videos for seated work-outs or at least work on my core and upper body. And, I have adjusted my Spark tracker to no cardio so I can adjust my calories to keep losing.

As I have started to learn about this health journey: For every thing I can not do, there's something I CAN do. I just have to find it!

Congrats Winterhartt! Ctisdell don't worry it goes like that sometimes. Well I have a slight problem my scale stopped weighing accurately so until I get a new scale I am a little stuck. I guess I could go weigh somewhere? I will see if I get a new scale.

Anyway in the meantime I got my bike! And I tried running again. wish me luck my knees are actually hurting less!

Congrats to you!!! Acupuncture sounds amazing. I unfortunately have fallen off the wagon and as a bonus, was trampled by the horses! I don't know what to do with myself. I had 50 pounds to lose and now its 55. Seems like everytime I start I am going strong, then a week later I fail miserably. Here we go again......

5/30 - 185

I am going to try to ride again.......

Well...I weighed in this morning and even though it technically doesn't count until Wed (official weigh in day) I've lost another 4 lbs! Now, I know my Acupuncturist will want to see what I've been eating and how many calories. LOL He gets very miffed with me for under eating! But I didn't...I was good.
emoticon

@ Arochford...Yes, and Acupuncturist can make a huge difference. Here is a link to the nutrition plan he has me on: www.kumoacupuncture.com/resources/pr
in
touts/Nutrition%20Guide.pdf
But it is more than that. Acupuncture can help heat up your metabolism, reset your hormone balance, help remove pain and balance your body. Roberto specializes also in Oriental Medicine so he has put me on different herbs to help with some of the health issues I was suffering from.

I have to say he has been my biggest support system. He always tells me that there are a lot of "tricks in his needles" to blow past plateaus. And he is right because I blew past this last one with a 4lb loss! Though he will frown on it. lol I know that as I lose this weight slowly I'll give my body a chance to heal, skin to retract and I'll be able to keep it off the rest of my life. I'm a huge fan of Acupuncture & Chinese medicine.

I weighed in and am at 215. So I lost 2 lbs this week! This has been a number that I've plateaued at in the past. I know with my Acupuncturist helping me through, I'll blow right past this number this time. emoticon

Lost a pound! Down to 221.

What didn't work: Had been struggling with foot pain, so it left me on my butt for a couple days again this week.

I went to a Podiatrist though! I had over-worked myself into tendinitis, plantar fasciits, and two trapped nerves. Simple and cheap fixes: crocs at home (I'm a painter, so I work at home and was going bare foot/slippers all day), running shoes vs walking shoes for my walks, and athletic insoles. It's been about 48 hours and I'm already 3/4 better. Fixes: $70. Foot pain gone: Priceless.

Lesson there? Go to the doctor sooner!

What did work: Started new meds for my diabetes. Ate lentils (my new personal super food) for at least one meal a day. Ate a lot of watermelon (low on the glycemic index). I took shorter walks, to not burn out my feet.

The new shoes? Yeah. I went from walking 15min/mile to 12min/mile. We have a trail near our house, so all my walking is on flat pavement through the woods.

We got mat flooring for building a home gym. I'm going to start doing my exercises on that, instead of the yoga mat. We're pricing out weight benches and bar bell sets.

Go team go!!!!!!

We can do it ladies. Every week add something new, something small. I take my kids down to the pool every summer. I just found out that 15 min of breast stroke is 200 calories burned! So I hop in for 15-20 min with them. The grocery store is a few blocks away so if I only need a few things we walk. I have to do videos at home and if I can put the video and press start, most the battle is done.

See you this Sunday ladies!
