Yep, CJ, I'm still here! I'm leading another SP Class of team for this week (May 25-31 team) and did an April one and a February one too, so I'm staying busy.

This weekend I'm working, but I have today off.

No plans to go out for me, and no box lunches, LOL. I don't foresee any problems staying on track this weekend. In fact, it will be nice enough to get out the gym and possibly even walk outside, so I should be able to burn off any excess calories that might come my way.

Is it the weekend already? This week flew by. I have been on a under 1400 cal streak for 5 days. When I make it through the weekend I will know I really accomplished something! I have no plans, so it shouldn't be difficult to stay on plan! We can do this! Go team!

I just had a treat. I am thinking that will be "dinner". I will probably have a fruit for a snack a little later, but otherwise I am covered in the cal and veg departments today.

I have an all day conference tomorrow. They serve a box lunch. It should be okay.

Good luck with the calorie "watch" CJ! You can do it!

Good morning! So far, so good --- just got home from my WeightWatchers meeting and am finishing up my healthy breakfast. I lost this week, 1.4 lbs., woohoo!

We have muffins, too, homemade Lemon-Poppyseed ones from a WeightWatcher recipe. I'll probably have one at some point today, maybe as a snack or dessert. Hubby is making Shrimp Creole (another WW recipe) for supper, so it's just lunch to decide on. We have leftover manicotti (recipe from that Kraft magazine), but I might have something different for a change of pace.

Good Morning!

Hope everyone's morning is off to a great start! I just finishes 71 minutes of strength training with a nice stretch at the end. My husband just called from the store where he is getting some stuff for the shower. He said they had muffins and he wanted to get some. (It's a General Store.) He is only getting 6 so that is one each. I hope I don't loose it and eat the kids' muffins.

Can't wait to see the new page Kara. I may have to steal your quote for February. :-)
Have a great day everyone!

Hi Everyone,
It sounds like everyone has a plan for the weekend. Jennifer I agree with CJ that the weekend will start tomorrow morning :-)

We are working on the bathroom again tomorrow. This means that we will probably be eating at home. I am thinking I might make Chicken Enchiladas. On Sunday we will probably go out for lunch after church. So I will need to plan for that. Otherwise we should be eating here and I should have plenty of time to workout. I have had three good calorie days in a row - I have been struggling with staying in my range since Christmas. This morning I got a great 45 minute workout in on the ellip and 15 mins of crunches, sit-ups and stretching. Hopefully I can get early workouts in the next three days. I have my w/i on Tuesday and today the scale was lookin' good.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Kara - I sure hope it is a nice, warm, sunny Sunday for you! It is suppose to be sunny here as well. Maybe the sun will shine on all of us! emoticon

If you attend the church function, the sloppy joes and carrots will not be too bad. It might be fun, even if you do not eat much.

Good luck with donating the granulocytes again.. I hope the prednisone works out well for you.

Take care & whatever you decide to do, enjoy your weekend.

This weekend I'm invited to a birthday party, but it's at a bar and that's so not my scene, so I am not planning to go. It's not even a place where I could just get something to eat and not drink... they only serve beverages. If I'm going to spend my limited money going out, I want at least a good sit-down meal or some entertainment like live music/concert or a movie, you know?

There's also a new member welcome dinner at my church. I'm supplying some of pickles (jarred, not homemade by me, LOL) and hamburger buns, but don't necessarily have to stay for the dinner. It's sloppy joes. Most likely I'll drop my contribution in the kitchen before church, go to church, and go home where I know how many points/calories are in things. A sloppy joe and some carrot sticks could fit in my plan, though, if I change my mind.

We're supposed to have a warm, sunny Sunday. I am crossing fingers and toes for warm enough for a walk outside. My dog would like that very, very much! Earlier today I got some library books. Maybe if I finish one on snowy tomorrow, I can return it by foot on Sunday --- the library is just a few blocks off our favorite walking trail and there's an outside bookdrop.

My biggest challenge will be... I agreed to donate granulocytes again, probably over the weekend. Before I donate I have to take Prednisone, which can bring on some serious munchies (usually for salty things) and water retention. So I'll have to be on guard for that. I'm still waiting to hear for sure if and then when I'll donate.

Yesterday I was over on calories, but by less than 20, so I'll call that good. Sodium I was over. Overall, good day though. Friday was on track, and so far so good today! Finally convinced hubby to make me just ONE egg. He always thinks it's not worth the trouble to make just one, that I should have 2 or 3. I don't have a cholesterol problem, but don't want to use all my calories on eggs, and just don't NEED 3 eggs.

Kara - that cold sounds brutal! I am ready for spring and it's in the 30s and sunny here!

Well, the soup didn't get made! We went out and as usual I ate too much! I had all kinds of rationalizations, but they are just excuses! I'll make that soup today!

I hope you are all doing better than me!

Hopefully it will warm up enough so that I'll want to go out! High of 2 degrees today... tomorrow still cold and snow in the forecast. Well, I've got today to come up with a plan B for entertainment --- hmm, got some Netflix movies here.

Hubby made a barley soup recipe last night that we'll eat today. Sounds like we're all planning soups and stews this weekend!

Hubby's here, and meals are planned for the next few days. We have restaurant coupons, but need to budget carefully AND it's bitter cold here, so I don't think we'll feel like going out to eat. It's a soup weekend, below zero!

I will go out to the gym, though, since I am going out anyway on both Saturday and Sunday. There's a free gospel music concert Monday evening for MLK day, so I think I'll take advantage of the free entertainment and plan to go to that. It's food-free, LOL.

emoticon Hi all!

I'm glad to see you guys are with me on this! My husband is out of town for the weekend. That will probably (unless I get bored and chow!) make it easier to stay in my limit since I won't be going out. However, he took me out to eat last night to make up for it! Yikes! All the more reason to be good this weekend! I think I'll make some tortilla soup for tomorrow night. It is low cal and tasty! My son will be home from college and he loves it.

As for workouts, I went to the gym M-F before work (5:30-6:30AM)I don't think I'll get up that early on the weekend! It is a great way to start the day though, so I will go mid-morning.

I think that is a great idea! I was thinking along those lines too. I did my workout at 7:30 this morning. Maybe I can try to do that the next three days too. Plus if I want to I can do another workout tonight...We'll see I have a lot of cleaning to do so maybe I will be too worn out. Anyway, good luck with the cardio!!!

This may sound weird, but my plan is to focus on getting my cardio in early in the day. I will start burning more calories earlier, plus I always seem to eat better when I am on track with exercise. It must be the reminder of what kind of work goes into working it off that helps.

This is a 3-day weekend for me, so I'm trying to think of this as a cardio-focused time. I have no reason not to get some cardio each day.

Good Morning,
Yesterday I realized another weekend is here already!!! Time to get a healthy weekend plan together huh? We will be starting our bathroom remodel this weekend and the kids are off today and everyone is off Monday. So those are the "special" things about this weekend I need to plan around. Okay, I will be formulating a plan in my head today and will post it a little later.

Hope everyone is doing well!

Thanks for joining me on this one! I made it, but it wasn't pretty! (meaning I get grumpy!) No drinking and no eating out seems to be the only way I can be successful. I think this is why I revert to my old ways, it's more fun! I need to work on that!

Hi Lisa,

Yes, we just sort of check in on this thread near the end of the week to try to set up individual plans for a successful healthy weekend.

Then we usually report back as to how we did... you know, being accountable keeps us on track. emoticon The weekends are tough for many, with eating out etc..

Glad you joined us on this challenge!
Have a great day!

I stayed within my calorie range this weekend. It was not easy today, though, but I did ok.

Plan, plan, plan is what I am going to do next time!! Also, I am not buying anymore cinnamon raisin bread for awhile!!! No more eating the entire loaf!!

Also, only buying small bag of potato chips when hubby wants chips so I can't eat the whole bag!!

Great idea, Lisa.

I did "ok" this past weekend, but, we had a lot of plans which meant I did not eat as healthy as I usually do.. oh well... another weekend approaching!

Hang in there, Ravyn... today is a new day and we have a whole new weekend ahead. We all will do fine.

Hey Folks,

Sorry that I went missing for the weekend, but I can give you a good strategy for not only staying in your calorie range, but being LOW. How does a touch of food poisoning sound? So, I'm feeling much better, but really hankering for a work out!

Looks like you all had good weekends! Well, I'm going to try to stay in calorie range for the week while I am working halfdays! That will be a challenge for me because my routine is going to be off. Keep me in your prayers and meditations!

Guess what? I decided to just invite Mom and Dad to brunch at our house on Sunday. That way I can control the menu! Hooray! Of course now I have to clean like crazy tomorrow, but that is good for burning calories right?

Encourage your mother to choose a restraunt that is not a buffet, take her out and then ask for a to go box with your meal. Divide your meal in half and put half in the to go box before you ever start eating. You just cut your calories in half!!

Hi!
I am trying to figure out what I am going to do this weekend so I can make a plan. The first thing on my to do list is to buy a piece of cardio equipment for home. I make way too many excuses about going to the gym - some valid, some not, but I have to find a way to fit cardio in here at home. I was walking outside, but now it is too cold for my taste most days.

Also, today is my mom's birthday so I would like to take her out for a meal one day this weekend. This could be a little challenging since you all know I still sometimes make bad choices when I go out to eat.

Other than that I hope to catch up on some chores around the house, do some Christmas shopping and some shopping for school.

Hope you all have a great day! I'll be seeing you here over the weekend I hope!

Great stuff folks! I ALMOST feel guilty, but I did okay. Weighed in at 135 this am, got some much needed rest & downtime. I was really struggling with why I felt sooooo tired. The SP article about workouts wearing you out gave me a slight reprieve. 2nd Turkey day was great! Lots of FRESH veggies. So, I "restart" today, and from a good place, not a place of desperation. I'll be seeing all of you here through out the week! (No chocolate martinis until after the 21st!)

Somehow I lost track of this thread! Oops! It sounds like everyone is doing pretty well. I think I did okay over the long weekend. We were all off for 5 days straight. The change in schedule was a bit of a challenge, but I think I managed it okay. I have not been eating all of my meals at home this weekend. I think I have been making reasonable choices though when we eat out. I've logged all of my food and been within my calorie range the whole weekend. Hope everyone has a great week!

Chocolate martinis are one of my favorite drinks. Unfortunately they are so sweet and sugary because of the corn syrup in the cream de cacoa! I've found that if I'm going to have a drink I'm better off with some kind of diet mixer(diet coke, crystal lite or diet tonic water.)Anyway...I have been completely off the wagon lately. Thank goodness I'll be back in my workout routine starting tomorrow morning! Hope you all had a great holiday!

I have never even heard of a chocolate martini! You'd have been safe at my house --- no alcohol in the house, and no potato chips or dip either.

My weekend has been on the higher side for sodium, but doing fine with calories. This morning my parents took me to Denny's for breakfast, but I'm making it be brunch. Supper will be fish (salmon), tossed salad, and some sort of veggies, maybe a little leftover mashed potatoes, so I should be well within calories for the day/weekend.

Good job keeping up with the exercise, TT!

Happy Saturday, Folks -
Just touching base. I haven't been logging anything over the holiday. Got another Thanksgiving dinner today (divorced parents). It's interesting. The "meals" haven't been my concern... the snacks (potato chips & dip) and alcohol (chocolate martinis) have probably been the worst things so far. I am still exercising (in the Cleveland cold!) so I'm feeling okay so far. We'll see how things really work out when I get on the scale tomorrow!

Okay, lets gear up for the long weekend of the time when the average american will consume over 5000 Calories on Thanksgiving alone!!

My strategy is: I am planning what I will eat at the buffet with my family! We are going to the local Golden Corral, they have their nutritional info online, so I am planning ahead. Also limited to 2 trips to the buffet, 1 for fresh fruit and maybe some soup or salad, and the other for my entree and sides. No dessert!! I am taking a pack of gum for that something sweet after my meal and hoping to avoid staying very long after we finish eating, unfortunately, I am not in control of that. Also, I am going to really try and work on putting the fork down between bites!! Thinking I may split my roll in half a well and skip the honey butter.

For our other side of the family, I am making vegaterian stuffed mushrooms and my mother in law has already asked that I bring my kitchen scale over as my husbands grandmother doesn't want to bring hers from Illinois! She is diabetic and has to watch her meat portions carefully because kidney problems run in her family. Wonderful mother-in-law has planned several items with diabetic grandma and myself on calorie watch!! Love having a supportive family!! Once again, only 2 plates. One with hor'derves and the other with my entree and sides. My have a small dessert here because I may be making pecan tassies that I found a recipe for. A lot like pecan pie, but done in mini muffin cups and only 158 calories per tassie. Pecan pie is my weakness during the holidays, so this is my solution. Good luck to all of you with your holiday plans.

Oh, one last thing, I am taking a small note book with me to both dinners and writing down every thing that I eat. Even if it is just a taste!! I see too many things on there and I will start asking if I am really hungery or if I just want to eat. emoticon

The weekend is behind us... yea?? lol. Unfortunately, this is the week from Hell. The weekend won't be the problem... Thursday will. What is the strategy folks?? I already know that I am going to go dancing Friday nite with the gurlz. Then to the gym Sat & Sun. But I have 2 turkey days to attend during the long weekend. Maybe I'll call in sick (of counting calories)

I worked overnights for about 3 yrs straight, and I am used to eating late. Just haven't worked overnights on a regular basis for quite some time now. I do occasionally (lately every weekend) pick up a shift because someone needs a night off. I guess my calories were spread out so far between meals that I just felt hungry. I really didn't do that bad, and I was only over by about 250 calories total. Only had 343 net calories for the day anyway, so I am not upset about it. I figure it was no wonder I was hungry after all the cleaning and yardwork I did at work again.

Working overnights takes most people awhile to get used to. That's the shift I've worked for years. I allot points (I'm on WeightWatchers) for overnight even when I am not working, like tonight.

For Sunday I was within my WW points, so I am quite sure within calories too, and still have 2.5 points to use for an overnight snack (which I include in Sunday). I start my day at 7 AM or so, which is about when I typically finish work.

Okay, went over calories tonight. I was starving, so I had a 2 egg omelette with fat free cheese and mushrooms and blueberry pancakes with lite syrup and I can't believe it's not butter light. Figure I could have eaten a lot worse. Overnight shifts are hard on my eating. I am going to stop working overnights on a regular basis for my New Year's resolution!!

As far as a holiday challenge. Holidays ARE a challenge! emoticon And it is not just food. today my Mom was talking about brandy alexanders! She prefers those to eggnog. Then, there are all of the events -- the time "commitments" are so frustrating! I'm going to try really hard to stay home as much as possible from Dec 20 to Jan 2!

This is for all of us!! I was reading and many of us seemed to have a hard time with the weekends, the hardest time for me. This just made sense to me. It was mentioned in the ideas for the holiday challenge, but the idea was dropped before the vote.

Well, I did fine on Saturday, and I am okay so far today. I have about 400 calories left for today, and have had 3 meals since midnight (I worked the overnight shift again!) I will probably end up over calories because we are getting ready to fix dinner, but did burn a lot of calories at work cleaning and raking the lawn again. We cleaned out the storage shed (full of cob webs, spiders, ants, roaches, etc!! YUCK!!) and hauled an entire 15 passanger van load of stuff to the local Goodwill that our ladies didn't want anymore!! I will post again after dinner and let you all know where I fell for the day.

You are all doing great!! Thanks for taking part in this challenge, because I really need the support and sounds like a few others feel the same.

Hi everyone!

I stayed within my calorie range this weekend. (well, so far... the weekend is not over yet)...

Hope you all are having a terrific weekend.

I am doing okay. Didn't get any cardio in yesterday, but did come in within my calorie range - 1548. Ended up eating dinner out with my parents, but did okay in my choices.
Today has been good so far. Did my cardio, have been drinking lots of water, food choices going well.
Hope everyone is doing well!

I'm doing well, burning some calories with preparations for company (cleaning, laundry, bringing out some Thanksgiving/harvest decorations, etc.).

We're clearing out some leftovers for lunch, to make room in the fridge for turkey and fixings.

How is everybody doing? So far so good for me. Today is the TOUGH one. Turns out my spinach lasagna rolls are deadly to the daily number! Oh well. I had better stick to soups and salads.

Everyone make it a GREAT day!

How about just stirring extra fast while your cooking to burn off the bites, licks and tastes (BLTs as we called them at Weight Watchers.) or how about dancing while you are cooking emoticon
Seriously, I guess they do add up if you have a lot of BLTs throughout the day and maybe that needs to be cut back on. If you just take a little taste here or there and it isn't affecting your goals I don't think it is really a big deal!?!?

Ravyn, u r doing just fine. You made "better" choices and that counts big time!

Here is a question... how do I count the "tidbits" that get eaten while cooking? Made spinach lasagna rolls. ate a few "stray" pieces of noodle, a "bit" of ricotta, a "pinch" of spinach mix (spinach, mushroom, artichoke hearts touch of cheese), dab of spaghetti sauce. These aren't like, full measurements but they can add up. Any suggestions, or am I obsessing? emoticon

Eating out is where I end up crushed most of the time too. Thank goodness my hubby is a "health-kin". He helps make really good choices. And if we do go out we often split something so that we both aren't eating 3 peoples worth of food!

This is a process, and we are all getting there. Right?

Ravyn - You'll do fine this weekend. We're all in this together & I think we can make it!

Lisa - Yes, the eating out thing usually gets me, too. Too many good restaurants here as well! I am going to try to be careful this weekend also.

Everyone have a nice weekend.

We ended up eating Chinese food last night. It was very delicious, but put me over by about 200 kcal for the day. The good thing is that I got a really good workout in early yesterday so my net calories were within range. Today's plan is to eat IN. Hubby is at the store now to get fixins'. Hopefully we won't cave to all the temptation - too many restaurants around here! I will try to focus on not only the calories saved by eating in, but also the $$. Wishing you all a great day, Lisa emoticon

My range is 1250-1550. I always eat at the top range, why even think about eating less? Maybe that is why I'm stalling out! Anyway, I hear ya Lisa, I'm already over today. Not sure why, but I just wanted to eat and eat! For the most part it was healthy food though. At least I had a good work out today. Tomorrow I WILL stay in range! emoticon emoticon emoticon

Hi!
My spark calorie range is 1440 - 1790, but I usually try to stay in the 1400 - 1600 range. Do we just post on Sat and Sun whether or not we stayed in range? I think I am already over today...
Thanks, Lisa

Same for me!! That is what prompted this challenge. I tend to binge on the weekends.

I think this is an excellent idea. Weekends are the worst time for my diet!

Some of us had mentioned that staying on track on the weekends was hard for us, me included. So here it is, a challenge to hold us all accountable!!

My calorie range is 1300 to 1550. (Spark said 1200 to 1550, but I upped the lower limit!) Just post if you make your calorie goal and be honest if you don't. I need someone to yell at me to get back on track at times, but everyone I am sure will be supportive!!!
