My total loss for the month was 3.8 pounds. Not the 5 pounds i had hoped for, but that's OK. I lost an inch in my waist this month...I'm really happy about that.

Congrats to everyone who stuck with this month's challenge. Whether we met our goals or not...we are learning new healthy habits and more about ourselves every day. Never give up...YOU are worth it!

On to October...anybody up for trying to lose a few more!

Nope I did not make the challenge. Oh well. I just need to work harder next month. Seriously, I kinda vegged this month. The entire month. I still worked out, just not as much as I should, and I wasn't watching my calories like I need to. But since I didn't gain any, and actually managed to loose 2 lbs, I'm going to be happy with that and work harder next time.

emoticon to everyone that did meet the challenge.

Only 4 tenths of a pound lost for me this week. Today I have to go to a baby shower. I will try very hard to feed the chunky monkey!

The scale went all the way down to 188.4 one day last week, but I don't trust it...and yesterday it was back at 191.4! I hate it when that happens... I haven't checked yet this morning. You can see why I don't move my ticker until I have seen a drop last several days!

I didn't keep up with tracking my food this week, maybe I am a weekend tracker during the school year. I have been getting into the little snack size candy bars I keep as rewards for my class. Somebody slap me!

My weight loss has completely stalled this month. I'm still going to the gym everyday, but I'm finding it hard to say motivated to do the same amount of work I was in the beginning. I'm not going to sweat it too much, as I'm still getting in shape, and getting healthier, even if the weight doesn't drop. But it looks as though I won't be getting that 5 lb goal this month.

That's great, Carol!

I know my weight bounces up and down 2 to 3 pounds all the time with no reason. I think it's because we are women, and hormones and water retention are factors we can't always control.

I'm going to try to start tracking my food again. I do great during the summer when I have lots of time, but when school starts again I drop off - I did the same think last year.

Ladies, make sure you search for your food before entering it yourself in case it's already in the system. Sometimes I just choose something similar if I can't find the exact item, but the other nutrients may not match if you want to keep a close eye on them.

I got my BAM! this week. Lost 2.4 pounds. I find it really funny that last week I did not miss one workout and stayed within my calorie range every day...and lost nothing. This week my eating was fine, but I didn't get to all of my workouts and I lost weight.

I know what you mean Carol. For the last couple of months, I will have a nice loss followed by a couple of weeks of maintaining. I don't mind that though--I am as worried about maintaining as I am about losing. It seems like a good sign to me.

Last week I lost 1.4#, so I was thrilled to log a .6# loss today! That is great to me. It is all good!

I have been on SP for a few months but I am just learning to use the food tracker too. It is time consuming at 1st but it gets easier. The other day I sat at the computer surrounded by food packages entering the info from the food labels to the tracker and saving them to my favorites. Now that they are there I just have to click and I am done. Good luck to you with the whole process--it is worth it just as YOU are worth it!

Thankyou for that..., the hint about "don't show meal plan!" I mean really, it was right there in front of me and yet I couldn't figure it out. Well, anyways, now I hope to start using this tool for my everyday progress. You guys have to understand, I'm a newbie at losing weight and using a computer. I hope that I succeed at both! With all your help I have a good start! Thanks again.

You can choose to follow the plan or not. I don't, and just use the tracker. There should be a button at the top to remove the meal plan...it say's Don't show meal plan. And then next to that is a button that says add food. This is where you can go to tailor the tracker. A lot of the foods most people eat are listed there, but if something's not you can add it manually, and it saves it. Also if it's something you eat alot, check add to favorites, and then there's a tab at the top to go to favorites.

Hope all that helps you.

BUT, I don't get how to track my stupid meals... I read the instructions and I try, but if I only eat a lousy bowl of cereal for breakfast why can't I just say that and be done with it? Why does it have to be fruit and toast and cream cheese...etc? I just don't get it. :(

That's exactly how I started. Just loading 'em all in if I didn't find it on the SP food list. I'll check out the WW Turtle Sundae. Sounds yummy! I'm hooked on WW giant fudge bars and giant latte bars. They are huge. I have one every day!

I love how you can track fiber, sodium...all those nutrients. You really get a clear picture of what you are eating.

I had food labels at the computer today entering some of my regulars. I love Quaker mini rice cakes in Ranch flavor as well as the Weight Watchers ice cream cups in mint chocolate chip and turtle sundae. Also discovered something about the WW ice cream cups today-they have 6 grams of fiber in one individual cup so I get portion control, great taste and fiber. I am constantly searching out sources of fiber. I tracked my whole day today.

Be sure to set up your favorite's list. It's some work in the beginning, but once you get it rolling, it's easy. I've already put in my breakfast, lunch and snacks for the week. Each day, I'll edit if there were differences, then add dinner.

The added details are good - I never thought about breaking the tracking down like that and building on it. I was thinking about jumping all in. This will be an easier and more effective way to build a habit. I don't have the hang of the nutrition tracker here - lack of practice. But I need to do this for awhile to get a more accurate view of what I am doing. It will also give me a trouble shooting tool. Thanks for the nudge.

Just FYI, I got the 4 day insight from a book called The Four Day Win, by Martha Beck. She calls high-fructose corn syrup the 'sweat of Satan'. I love it!

On food tracking, this is what she would suggest...
Track one meal for 4 days...whichever is the easiest one. Give yourself a small reward for each of the 4 days you meet the goal; then give yourself a bigger reward at the end of the 4 days (IF you did it for all 4 days, if you didn't...no reward). Then, up your goal to 2 meals for 4 days and follow the same rules. Keep gently upping the goal every 4 days until you are where you need to be. That's how you develop a habit.

You can do this with any goal you have. Start by setting it ridiculously low, something you know you can accomplish, and go from there.

I eat a lot of the same foods day after day. I love the food tracker option to copy a meal to another day. It makes it so easy.

I am the worst at tracking my food. But I know it has worked for you, so I will take your suggestion and give it a try too. Thanks for the challenge--the competitive side of me feels compelled.

I just tracked breakfast - eyeopening experience!

Here's our challenge to lose 5 pounds in September. Eat within your calorie range. You must track your food to be sure you are eating the right amount of food. Exercise at least 30 minutes 5 times a week. Drink your water!

Tell yourself to do it for just 4 days. That's all it takes to make it a habit. At the end of the 4 days, give your self a small reward, and the do it for 4 more days. Keep this up and you will be at least 5 pounds lighter at the end of September!
