The Cuisinart version of the Keurig system was for David mainly. If he is in a hurry
for a cuppa coffee and the regular pot is brewing, or sometimes he just feels like a
cup of the evening, he will use it. I will tell him about the paper filters...I only use it
to make the occasional cup of tea or since I am on this special eating plan, the hot
chocolate sits there..........wearily waiting for me..........so far I have not wavered on
my plan...so it will just have to wait..............

Blessings,

We've been using a Keurig system daily for more than a year. Awesome! only downside being the price per cup if you buy the pods.

Found a system called EZ-Cup, that uses small paper filters. you add your own coffee. Clean up is a breeze compared to the Keurig re-usable equivalent.

EZ-Cup and filters available in our local Bed, Bath & Beyond. I estimate the price of the prepared pods averages out about $0.48 per each. EZ-Cup about $0.25, your experience may differ emoticon

We love ours....David got me some hot chocolate with dark chocolate at w/m

wobbly but all in all, lots better.

Oh my...can you believe this craze? I now have mine at home, one in my office at work, & just this week....they put one in the kitchenette at work - a ginormous one that's hooked up directly to the water line. Sweet!!! It's amazing me....in a good way!!!

Actually, we did not start this.......Riders Harley Davidson at Trussville, Alabama
started it. They had the first one we'd ever seen and it just sort of blossomed from
there...lol

Hey Chicks
! I didnt think there were any more Krogers in Texas. Maybe they just moved out of S. Texas. All we have in our area is Super-Target, Wal-Mart and HEB for groceries. HEB is not carrying much of a k-cup variety so that leads me to the others but the others dont carry the same variety in other stuff as HEB. What a conundrum!

I did find a pretty good deal at Costco though. It was 80 k-cups for 36.00.
Thats about 45 cents a cup. So much better. They also have the variety packs and regulars so I think we will be going there this weekend to get another box. I am pretty hooked on the French Roast D-Caf but Hubby likes the Donut House version.

Have a good one!

That is the first place we go every place we go shop, the coffee section......lol

I bought David one of the wooden storage boxes at Bed, Bath, & Beyond for Christmas,
which holds 36 of the cups, and you set the pot on top of it.

The coffee beans I ordered for him for Christmas ?? came in today at the Publix store
down in Trussville, (Birmingham suburb) and we went and got them and then he found
a bean grinder at BB&B and oh happy day........he got his grinder....and wouldn't ya know???

they had all their Christmas 75 % off, and I got a beautiful red tablecloth with Poinsettia's
cutwork on the corners and Christmas paper for 50cents a roll.....I love to wrap pretty
packages...............my toys were cheaper than his tho.............LOL

Oh dear...I have officially become my mother! LOL
We are SO loving this machine at my house - there's almost always cups sitting in or next to my sink since we all 3 use it all the time. BUT....I found a sample box of coffee on sale at Kroger this weekend. (36 K-cups in about 4-5 varieties, not flavored coffee, just regular). It was $11.50. So I go back to the store today - & it's still on sale (which is less than 1/2 price), so I pick up not one, but TWO MORE boxes. I'm laughing at myself, because I also bought a small box of Starbucks Sumatran (my fave) for about 10 bucks, & a green tea for 7.
My husband is going to crack up when he sees me trying to find a spot for all these tonight! I was already pretty well stocked, but now....??? Sigh...
But still... who said my mom was a bad influence???
This is actually tickling me quite a bit - enjoy!

I'm so glad we had this " conversation" on here. Funny: I think the ppl around me are getting tired of hearing about my new favorite kitchen appliance... Idk why? LOL.
One of my co-workers is asking for one for Christmas now....and I see the k-cups everywhere! It's just so exciting to me, so guess what? Everyone's going to keep on hearing about it from me! Haha! Cuisinart should pay me to be their spokesperson!!!

I like Irish Cream....yummo....

For my regular coffee I use Cinnamon Vanilla from La Creme............

I tried the hot chocolate, was good, the pumpkin coffee was good on 8 oz. of water
but too weak on 10 or 12..............

So many varieties, so little time....lol......I will stop by Target tonight and see what
they have.....we are going out to eat and there is a store in the same area.

I got the apple-cider k-cups and tried it last night. Pretty darned good if I should say so myself! I made the 8 oz size last night but I can see where 12 oz would be better since 8 was a little strong. Also found that Target has some of theirs on sale this week, so I picked up the English Breakfast Tea which really is very good. I found a couple of different creamers. Tried the Bailey's Toffee Almond and it is very tasty!

Hugs,

Eva

So glad you are enjoying your Cuis! A friend gave me some of the spiced eggnog, gingerbread and golden french roast that she got in a holiday sample pack and I am really enjoying that. My goal right now is to find a good creamer. The white chocolate that I bought doesnt go with those flavors very well. I am on the hunt for apple cider now...

Have a great morning!

Alright... I'm having way too much fun with my cuisinart ladies :)
Thanks for your ideas. I think Newman's Own extra bold is my fave so far. It was bold, but not bitter. I also liked the Green Mountain " dark magic". Mmmm....just love this machine!
And like I always tell people-you see I like my coffee like I like my men: strong.....dark....and rich! LOL

Well D-, if yall want to come too we can make a party of it! Come on down!! I'd love to meet ya'll in person :)

As for the k-cups: The Newmans own Extra Bold is super strong. This is according to my *dH who drinks it dark and sugarless. Even he had to add extra water to that one. Does yours have the option to make up to 12 oz cups of coffee?

Our also came with a bunch of samples. The lady was telling me that there is a coffee club through Green Mountain and they will send out samples every month or so but I dont know if there is a charge for that or not. Im going to look into it and Ill let you know.

Oh gee my heart is just crushed.............................L O L

Sorry, just could not let that one slide by............................

Lets see, we got our Cuisanart at Belks on sale and then we began looking at the different
stores for different pods. David likes coffee that is strong enough to WALK BY ITSELF, so
we found Newmans' Own, Keurig, Folgers, and 3 different brands of cocoa pods, tea pods,
even Yogi now makes tea pods, plus several other brands I didn't recognize.

Should be a great assortment to choose from.....would love to see a holiday asstmt.

Nell: all the pods are univeral. So I can get the folders cups, the newmans cups or the keurig cups and they have such fun flavors too. I was told that for the holidays there are sample packs that carry pumpin/spice and gingerbread and other flavored coffees. Our maker also comes with a K-cup that can be used if you want to brew something out of a can without the pod. You pack it with your own coffee, put it where the pod would go and then just wash it out when done. We tried this method and its a little more work on the clean-up end but still nice to have "just in case"

June: Im probably a little bit closer than D so why not hop on 35 and head south. Let me know when and Ill even get some pan-dulce (sweet bread) to go with our coffee/tea

We had a Keurig, but it would not make a full cup so we returned it.

Will be looking for the Cuisinart tomorrow. It is nice to make a cup now and
then. I found a peppermint cocoa at Walmart that is fabulous...............

Does it use a standard pod or does each of those pod coffeemakers use their own?

So, I finally broke down and bought a Cuisenart maker. A maker of what? you may ask... well its one of those things that uses the little pods to make wonderful items such as coffee, hot tea, cider, expresso, hot chocolate and even iced tea and I absolutely LOVE it! It has got to be the best kitchen item on the planet and I am so glad that we splurged on one!!!

Just had to share...

Hugs,

E
