That's a good idea about water. I keep a bottle in the freezer partially filled so when I ride I grab it, fill it the rest of the way and cap it. Then as it thaws, I have a nice, COLD beverage. Thanks for the reminder about chia seeds. They are a powerhouse nutritional food. In Mexico they make a drink from these seeds. Very healthy.
Chicks - I just read a good article that was linked from our SP main page. I fit into this time of life, so I thought I'd post the link here as well. No great revelation, but a bit enlightening about menopause & weightgain:
Yup-adding water & subtracting soda or sugary drinks is a sure way to gain some success. So many people in my life are highly addicted to this stuff....& it seems very foreign to me now. I think it's been almost 2 yrs since I've had a diet coke or something like that. And I can honestly say, I do not crave this stuff....at all! It amazes me, because I used to enjoy about 1 can or bottle per day, but now I can't even imagine it. I do drink 8-10 C of water per day now - & I still crave that - so I'm sticking with it! Now - just don't take away my coffee...we'll have a problem ;o) June :) - 2 or 3 C of coffee per/day...
I read an article a couple of weeks ago titled "Secrets of Skinny Girls". One of the secrets was that they always have a bottle of water with them to help maintain their weight. They said it helped them to feel full and it kept them from buying or grabbing other drinks with calories. I started doing this and I do always feel full. My oldest pointed out tonight that the twelve pack of diet pepsi in the fridge is the same one I bought two weeks ago. Don't know if it will help me lose weight since I only weigh myself once a month but hoping to be at least three or four pounds lighter at the end of the month.
I'd rather regret the things I've done than the things I haven't done....Carol Burnett
Don't let where you have been define where you are going!
My 2 favorite healthy snacks right now: *Chia Seeds (soak them in water then mix w/fat free greek yogurt, some berries, & a touch of honey) YUMMY! *And Beanitos, Black Bean Chips...OMG- I need stock in that company!!! June :)
Just received a hot tip for a cool website! If you like to listen to music during your run/walk/cycling/spinning, this site has recommendations for your exact timing of a mile - I think that's so cool. I can't wait to test it out :) You plug in your min. per mile & it suggests songs that match your pace. Just thought some of you may be interested. Here's the link: jog.fm/ June :)
Funny Eva.....at least you're taking time to consider the decision ;) I was just thinking about these questions & telling people that you can take them 2 ways... Will you ever regret doing something good for you-say getting up to excercise? Probably not. Will you regret not doing it? Probably. Will you ever regret doing something bad for you - say smoking? Probably. Will you ever regret quitting? No. I thought it was cool that the answers for both sets of questions were the same, but they mean quite the opposite :) Now - what piercing are you thinking of getting my wild biker chick friend???? June :)
I dont usually regret doing it, although this time... im not so sure. Im thinking about getting a piercing and although I know I want it I dont know if I want the pain involved with getting it. Thats the part I may regret. :)
New thought this week: Will you ever regret doing it? Or...... Will you regret not doing it? Choose whatever you'd like to fill in the "it" part of the sentences. Makes you stop & think a bit.....smile! June :)
Hey June! I downloaded that app right away but havent tried it yet. There is another one called Grocery IQ that works with the barcode scanner app to keep grocery list. It works really well since you scan the items you use most often at home and then scan them at the grocery store as you put them in the cart. It keeps track of what you still need and what you already put it. Cool huh?
If anyone is looking for some good boots - I can recommend the Milwaukee brand. I've had mine for a couple of years & absolutely love them! I wanted to buy my husband some this year, but couldn't find anyone who carried them locally. I searched the internet & found this supplier - as they listed them on eBay. But I bought from the store direct & saved a couple of dollars. GREAT customer service - which is what I'm all about! Check them out if you'd like : angelesbros.com/ We both have the Road Captain (I think) - they have a zipper on the inside of the ankle so you don't have to re-tie each time. The only drawback is they're pretty stiff for the first 3 or 4 wearings, but I absolutely LOVE the grip they provide.....and the look. June :)
Sometimes we see things or hear of things that work well for us or others. We need a place to share these things so I created this forum. Keep in mind that the "sharer" can share anything that they feel is "share worthy" but we as the "sharees" still need to use common sense when deciding to act or not act on the information.
