Well ladies, September is over and so is our month long saunter. I know that for many of us this has been a very busy month and that made tracking really difficult. We all realize that life sometimes gets in the way of our best efforts and I am sure I speak for everyone in that no hard feelings have been harboured. I thank everyone for taking the time to share what they learned from their daily reading. I learned a lot and gained a lot of insight on how God can use the same words and speak different things to different people. That being said, here are the final standings:
JessRockwell 40 pts
HsMom2Four 46 pts
Kadulac 80 pts
crazybusymomof5 84 pts
Myrtleboo 106 pts
Sunflowers4Me 124 pts

Can't believe I finally had the most points in a challenge! Again, thanks to everyone for hanging in there and don't forget that the Last One Out challenge begins next week!

Wow. What a month. I knew it was going to be a busy month for me, but honestly, I had *no clue* what was ahead of me. I am so sorry that I have bailed out on my team for the last half of this month. That is not like me, and I'm so sorry.

This month has been full not only of normal comings & goings, but also full of medical issues for multiple people in my family - 14 dr appts so far, and one more to go this afternoon! We could really use your prayers for health, as none of these are small issues.

In God's providence, my husband had time off and we were going to go on vacation - a fun vacation!- to visit some friends in Maine. However, my mom's emergency open heart surgery gave us a detour to Iowa instead. We were blessed that my dh had the time off of work and could go out there with us - even though he needed to fly back earlier to return to work. I actually have not been disappointed in not going to Maine, but really just thrilled that I was able to go & be with my mom for a couple of weeks. It was hard to leave her - she still needs help.
We came back in time to go to a couple of dr appts, meet my il's here and then go out of town with them for a week... only to try to return home and be stuck on the side of the interstate because the van broke down! PTL for AAA towing! My dh was a sweetie and let me ride back with the tow truck while he waited on the side of the interstate with 3 kids- underneath an overpass b/c of pouring rain - for almost 2 hrs until a friend could come & pick them up (an hour and a half away from home).
Only 1 dr appt missed because of that. LOL But it was able to be rescheduled for the following day.

It has been a rough month - but through it all, I am finding that God's providence is a smiling providence. We may not understand it all right now, but He is working out His plan in His way -- which is the best way for all of us. I love the saying 'Sometimes He calms the storm. Sometimes He calms His child in the midst of the raging storm.' -- This time around, He seems to be calming His child and allowing the storm to rage around me.

I know this is long, but I wanted you to know that I didn't just bail out on you... my computer access has been limited with traveling and my online time has been spent doing a lot of medical research.

My weight went up 5 pounds over the course of 3 weeks, but it's already back down those 5 lbs, so I'm guessing that it was the sodium content. Whew! Didn't want to be gaining weight!!

I'm praying for each of you - I know you all have your own issues & struggles. And while I don't know the specifics, I am praying for you!
HUGS!

NO EXCUSES!!!

"For I am the LORD, your God, who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, do not fear; I will help you." Isaiah 41:13

"The LORD is my strength and my shield; My heart trusts in Him, and I am helped; Therefore my heart exults, And with my song I shall thank Him. The LORD is [my] strength, And He is a saving defense to His anointed. Save Your people and bless Your inheritance; Be [my] shepherd also, and carry [me] forever." One thing have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to enquire in His temple.

This is a scary one for me because unlike David who continually walks in God's truth, I often feel like I have let Him down. However, this verse reminds me that I also need to examine my heart and mind often to ensure that I am moving towards walking more and more in His truth

My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? Why art thou so far from helping me, and from the words of my roaring?

Jesus' words from the cross. He suffered through that so I don't have to. Thank you, Jesus for taking my sin and redeeming me.

Psalm reflection:
It is encouraging to me that even a man such as David felt alone at times, felt as if God was not listening to his cries and yet David continued to trust that God would rescue him. I love that God's word is honest and doesn't just give us the pretty picture of faith but includes the hard times so that we can see Him work through them. I love that we read how they felt before it was worked out, that we can see their concerns and yet know that they trust.

For the king trusteth in the LORD, and through the mercy of the most High he shall not be moved.

Too bad our current ruler doesn't follow this verse. I don't know how others feel about President George W. Bush, but I feel he did follow this verse and got the flack from unbelievers for following it. Praying we get another president that will follow it soon.

vs 7
For (I) trust in the LORD; through the unfailing love of the Most High (I) will not be shaken.

God has pulled me through to many difficult times for me to not trust in Him. He provided for us when my husband was unemployed for 18 months; He protected us when my husband was facing a possible jail term for defending my son from an attacking pit bull (LONG story!); He had a hand in the birth of my daughter who arrived almost a month early and through induced labor because I had a seizure (no medical reason for it) that led to the discovery that the umbilical cord was wrapped around her neck not once but twice and had they sent me home they believe she would have been stillborn, and many other instances. His love for me and my family HAS been unfailing and because of that I WILL NOT BE SHAKEN!

Thank you Lord for loving me enough to become angered when I am attacked and to defend me. Help me to live in a way that brings praise to You.

14-15 O LORD, by your hand save me from such men, from men of this world whose reward is in this life. You still the hunger of those you cherish; their sons have plenty, and they store up wealth for their children. And I—in righteousness I will see your face; when I awake, I will be satisfied with seeing your likeness.

Just as David prayed for God to save him, I also pray for God to save me from those who would lead me astray. Still my fleshly hungers and remind me that I have plenty as provided by You. May I always seek your face and find satisfaction every morning in seeing your likeness.

Just a side note, I AM his likeness. That just hit me as I type this. David is asking to find satisfaction in seeing himself, satisfaction in knowing that he has done all he can for the Lord. That he has pleased the Lord. Let me find that satisfaction also!

15:5b He who does these things will never be shaken.

I have to admit that at one point or another I have had an opportunity to do "these things" and didn't. (head hanging) To often I have spoken before I thought and said some slanderous things and slurred others. I have done things to neighbors out of retaliation, I have not spoken truth when I should have because I was more afraid of what others would think of me, and my walk sure isn't blameless. I have broken promises and I have even taken bribes. The only thing I can't recall doing is charging interest on a loan. I thank God that he sent His son so that I would not be excluded from His sanctuary because of it. I pray that He continue to work in me and bring me closer to His standard each day.

Thanks for asking about my mom... She is doing better. We were afraid that she might have to go in for additional surgery, but thankfully not! She is making progress, and I'm taking her to cardiac rehab this week, cleaning her house, and fixing some meals to go in their freezer. They had some flooding right before her emergency surgery, so the house is in the middle of remodeling as well... so it's really wild & crazy! She still has a long way to go... I wish I lived close by and could help her out long term, but I'll have to head back home this weekend. Would you pray for me specifically for the drive back? It's a 20hr trip, and I'll be the only driver...

Psalm Reflection: The Lord is concerned with how we act towards one another -- our words, our business dealings, our relationships with our neighbors -- these things show what we REALLY believe about God. Do we have a Biblical worldview? Do we really believe that the Bible dictates what we should do in every area of our lives? Whoever lives in an upright manner will NEVER be shaken!! Oh, I want to live in an upright manner in all aspects of my life!

Okay ladies, tomorrow is the halfway point and I will be posting score updates. Team Shir, you have two people who haven't been posting so I am averaging team scores to make it a little more fair as far as teams go. Looking at the scores I realized I have missed almost half of the days, so I have decided that I am going to kick it up a notch and give our leaders a run for their money!!

HsMom2Four, how is your mom doing? Haven't heard anything since you asked for extra prayer. Still praying all is well.

Psalm reflection: 13:5-6 But I trust in your unfailing love; my heart rejoices in your salvation.
I will sing to the Lord, for he has been good to me.
The verse is one of many that is dear to my heart. I received the Lord as my Savior when I was 8. I read the Psalms over and over. Verses like this gave me the courage to do what I believe I'd been made to do praise the Lord in song for He has been good to me. Chapter 13 is like most David writes & we should pay attention to the fact that David always ends his songs with praise even in the midst of feeling sorrow, feeling as though the Lord has hid His face from Him, feeling overtaken by his enemies...yet he trusts and praises His Lord. May that be the cry of my heart in ALL situations.

He (The Lord) said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me. ~2 Corinthians 12:9

Just wanted to apologize for not posting. I had a women's conference over the weekend and didn't get a chance to get on the computer at all from Friday to today. Next weekend will probably be the same because my church is planning an all day long outdoor festival/concert Saturday with set up on Friday and clean up Sunday after services. September is just turning out to be so much busier than I imagined it could be. So sorry for letting my team down!

Psalm Reflection:Psalm 9:10
Those who know your name will put their trust in You; for You, O Lord, have not forsaken those who seek YOU.

All we have to know is His NAME...and put our trust in him. After the month I've had, I'm so glad that I only need to trust him...and he won't leave or forsake me. I'm so thankful.

SO...on that note. I'm so sorry that I've missed this week. I have had a majorly emotional time lately...plus TOM and it kinda threw me for a loop. I am back for good and READY to get back into eating healthy, working out, and being the person God made me to be.;):)

Psalm reflection: Psalm 9:1-2 David does not promise he will TRY to thank God or tell about Him. He does not say that he will TRY to be glad in Him. He says "I will..." I will sing praises, be glad, thank God.

"Praise the Lord, O my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name . . . and forget not all his benefits — who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion, who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s." (Psalm 103:1 – 5)

"Our feelings should be an indicator of our situation but never a dictator of our reactions." Lysa TerKheurst
