Week 7
Day 1 (Thursday) FBS 97, very low on calories & nutrients that day, wasn't feeling so hot. emoticon
Exercise.......1 1/2 hrs cardio total for the day emoticon
Day 2 (Friday) FBS 100, did great with the food yesterday, stayed within my limits for once emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon
Exercise..........Nearly 3 hrs of cardio (I do a LOT of walking---car is still in the garage) emoticon
Day 3 (TODAY!!!) :) FBS 96, so far so good with the food, still have the WHOOOOOOOOLE day ahead of me though and worried about tomorrow's picnic with my 2 girlfriends and all of our kids. I'm going to pack a healthy meal and snacks so that I don't cheat (at least not too much anyway). Wish me luck and pray along with me that I will exercise some self control!
Exercise for today........no walking for me today :) But I plan on working out with my beautiful children! My eldest has a dance presentation coming up, so I'll be practicing some Tahitian dancing with her so I'll get my cardio, abdominal and legs workout all in one! Tomorrow will be packed lunch at the picnic and swimming for my exercise! emoticon

FBS 101
Yesterday worked in the yard 2 hours,
Great exercise but I felt like I'd fall over
Made my own pesto sauce yesterday with whole wheat pasta
Cooked the pasta with some Balsamic vinegar,
it's suppose to change how the carbs are digested
I think it worked:)

CEEJAY Way to go! Setting goals and then making them is a great feeling! Glad to hear that you are going to set another goal and do another challenge to keep yourself motivated. There is a team called 100+ that has a 25#weight lose for three months! It is a great team! They do not set goals or challenges for shorter periods of time though.
Congrats to you !

I'm right behind you here on week 7! This is the third time that I have done the whole challenge. Then I take a couple of weeks off from the challenge and just do what I have learned. There is a great group of people in the After the 8 Week Challenge stop in and chat with them.
I stop up from time to time while I have been doing this round of the challenge! Great Job on your
FBS ! Keep up the great work you have been doing.

Kay, emoticon for friends who support us!

fbs - 119 = I've written my Dr., since it's been about a month that I'm taking new meds for the diabetes, and I'm still not usually in her recommended range in the morning. We'll see what she says.

Today I will have completed Week 7 emoticon Am feeling good about new habits and a little nervous about finishing next week...What do I do then???

Have a Wonderful Wednesday and Week...I'll see you in Week 8 tomorrow.

Yes, it is so much easier to stay on plan when you are the cook. But sometimes you just have to get out of the house and not have to cook. I'm blessed with neighbors who invite me over for dinner and they are cooking what I can have and have stopped offering up those insane desserts !

I know it's late in the day...but I couldn't get to a computer 'til now. fbs - 119

Had a good day yesterday...pool for 30 min., 3000 Steps, and ate only 10 cal. over my range. The ladies cooked dessert for a class I go to on Mon. night. emoticon

Today - good so far and I'm getting ready for supper. 30 min. in the pool again and I'm way within my Cal. All. for today. Not eating out would be a very good thing.

Week 7 is going well, one more day to go! Keep on Sparking!

FBS = 136 - Seems like about once a week my fbs is up this high. Not good! but only for a day. Rest of time I'm in the 110's. So I'm keeping track but not going crazy.

Good day yesterday...30 min. pool time and a little (40 cal.) below my range. Not bad!

Today is busy...BUSY! so I'm thinking I won't get to the pool...and it's thundering out right now anyway! Maybe an indoor walk tape...

Happy Aug. 1st to y'all...beginning a new month, new week! Go for it!

and Keep on Sparking!

Here we are in week 7! emoticon Last week was a good week and it gave me hope that things are turning around for me again. I did put on 2#'s this past week but I'm really thinking it is the muscle factor. We will see what comes this week !

W7D1: FBS 166 Some what higher than usual. Tracked my food, fitness, water, veggies and
7/31 fruit. Pups and I did the usual 30min mile. Came home and did hosta toppers trimming!
That was a 30 min gardening time! I don't know what you would call giving the Pups a
bath and grooming with toe nail clipping! But each Pup took an hour.

W7D2: FBS 102 Tracking food, fitness, water, veggies, fruits and anything else I come up with.
8/1 Pups up and out for walk 30 min mile. 30mins X4 working away in the garden! Then the
rain started and I came in and did an hour of heavy cleaning! emoticon

W7D3: FBS 136 Tracked food, fitness, water, veggies, fruits and fiber. Walked the PUps 30 min
8/2 mile, 30 mins in the back garden and then 90 mins in the front. Hosta is nice until you
need to cut off the flowering sticks, once the flowers have all fallen off. Did take it a little
less active in the afternoon.

W7D4: FBS 113 Got the Pups out of bed this morning to the walk for 30 mins 1 mile done.
8/3 then it was over to the neighborhood veggie garden. It needs so much work once again
the weeds are growing faster than the veggies! That was another 30 mins and i was
done in. Still had to come home and get my strength training done and so i did the
stablity ball for 15 mins and then because I love the resistance band video I did it for 20.

W7D5: FBS 116 30mins in the garden and 30min mile for the Pups and me ! Enough for the day
8/4 Now my BS's are under control! But I don't feel well. I'm exhausted even after 12 hours of
sleep. Yesterday took another afternoon nap that dragged into the night slep for 3 hours.
Wish I'd hear back about the tests the doc did last Friday. Yesterday I just wasn't even
hungery. I don't think that I even got over 1,000's calories. Tracked my food, fitness, water
fruits and veggies. It isn't easy on the body to make major changes to what you eat. I
really miss all those fruits that I was eating. It has even affected my BM. I'm not getting
enough fiber any longer since the carbs have been cut down to the 100g/day. Something
has to give soon now or I'm just going to give up on their eating plan and get back to
healthy eating once again. I felt so good even with the high BS's!

W7D6: FBS 116 Two days running for FBS !!! 30min mile with the Pups, 30min gardening, and 8/5 60min heavy cleaning for Sparkies coming to visit! Don't want everyone leaving with Pups
fur sticking to there buns ! Did video stabliity ball and resistance bands. Do love the
resistance one the best. Took a trip down to Saratoga Spring, went by the track, had
lunch in Congress Park how historic that place is. Then we found my lost Grandmother's
grave. And a little shopping trip to BJ's! Thanks to my 518 team leader! Thanks Judy!
Tracked food, water, fitness, fruits & veggies and fiber! Had a great day seeing Sara &
her kids and friend Kathy and then being out with Judy. Great to be able to Spark in
person with others on your team.

W7D7: FBS 106 Boy those BS's are really looking fine! 30min,mile with Pups, 30min areobic
8/6 video! Did 30 mins in the other's neighbor's garden while she is away for the weekend.
So many weeds and they are over taking her garden. Tracked my water, fruits, veggies,
food & fitness! Woohoo this week has come to an end. Movin on up to week 8 !!!

Best of wishes to any one who has been reading my week here ! You too can do this !

Had a good first day yesterday...exercise in the pool and went over my Cal. All. So , one step ahead and one step back. That seems to be my story...

FBS today is 112...and I lost a pound (even with not Tracking last week for five days!)

So, it's Sunday, the beginning of a new week. Good Luck to everyone...and Keep on Sparking!

emoticon emoticon Well, I had a terrible week last week...was my 7th, but since I didn't even track I'm repeating the 7th. I weigh myself tomorrow...so we'll see how much damage I've done.

On to new and better times... emoticon I'm feeling strong emoticon and determined to get back on track...and Track! (heehee) as well as exercise this week!

My numbers, too, have maintained, steady (I DID check every morning!)...today FBS is 113....so that's o.k. It's this losing weight that's such a problem...duh! emoticon

Good luck to y'all out there. Keep on Sparking!

KAY - Thanks for the encouragement. What I didnt say is that I am having 5 crowns fitted (teeth not royal) and I spent 6 hours in the dentist chair in the last 4 days so have not had much time to myself for exercise but also been feeling rather rubbish. I have only 1 appointment left for the final fitting so will be feeling less stressed and will have more free time.

I seem to be able to lose most of the weight in the first 2 weeks and then it goes flat but I DO keep on trying. Bloods still under 100 so that is the most important thing. Lets all stick together.

Sunshine-Girl: 1st, love your username! Sounds like you have been doing very well at losing about a pound a week if you have lost 7#'s. Was there a week that you did better than this week? Shake up your fitness routine this week and pick and choose from all that you have been doing so that the body doesn't know what to expect will happen next. I have heard this so many times and have had it work for me this last week where I lost 14#. Most of it was due to medication adding weight and now my body is getting used to having the medication. But this week I have been doing just a little different routine ! Due to the heat I have been working out very early in the morning. And then again after sunset ! Wishing you that 3+ lose you wanting! You have 2 weeks so many you can drop 2 each week ! Then you will be one down ! Have fun with your company!

Has been a rotten week exercise-wise, still horrible weather but due to improve on Thursday. Bloods still good at under 100 and still stuck at 7lb loss. SO have decided to do week 7 again. 2 weeks to family arriving so still have time to do weeks 7 and 8 and reach my 10lb goal.

It's been difficult for me to eat all the recommended calories....
I've lost 23 pounds since I started 7 weeks ago.
My husband has lost 20.
The tracking has been a great help in our successful weeks.
We didn't follow the meal plan provided, we adjusted what we like to eat, so as a result we have never felt we have missed out on any foods.

Here are some fasting blood glucose numbers. All are without medication:

Week 0: 110
Week 1: 107
Week 3: 102
Week 7: 101

I'm doing A LOT of exercise (120 minutes/day) and I suspect that the initial rapid drop was because of that. Now I expect the progress to be much slower and dependent on the slower processes of losing fat and building muscle. But I'm in it for the long haul and extremely pleased with the progress so far.

Thanks, Kay...

Just logging in for the first time in Week 7...tho I started the week on Thursday. Didn't track or log in on Thurs. or Fri. emoticon

So, now I have to Cardio every day to meet the Week 7 goals. emoticon I can do it if it stays nice and I can get to the pool.

I did prick twice - fbs: Fri. 121 and Sat. 101.

Good luck everyone on Week 7...and Keep on Sparking!

FBS still good at around 100
Weight stuck at 7lb loss for last 2 weeks but still motivated
Exercise drawback as we have had some awful weather, not even fit to walk so swimming has stopped. Will be getting out the Wii Fit again.

All keep up the good work. Well done Dolphinlady.

Earlier today I said I'd come back and post the info from doctor's visit so here it goes...

Triglycerides: Down from 271 to 139
Liver Function: Normal

AND DRUM ROLL PLEASE...

A1C: Down from a whopping 9.1% to 5.9%

Now that's what I call results!! And all of this since March 25th...just 3 little bitty months!!!Thank you SP friends for all of the support and motivation you've been giving me and a big thank you to SP for starting this challenge.

I have completed week 7 and onward I shall go to week 8 and to the goal of completing the whole challenge...WOOHOO!!

Week 7, Day 7...FBS 83

My appt with my doc is at 10am today so I am very excited for her to see the weight loss and download my blood sugar numbers from my meter so that she can see for herself how much improved they are compared to 3 months ago!! My A1C was 9.1 back in March before I started SP and I am praying really hard that based on the improved blood sugar numbers that this time my A1C will be much better.

This is my last day in week 7. I absolutely cannot believe I've made it this far and heading into week 8 tomorrow. I've kicked 22 pounds to the curve, started back to taekwondo & kickboxing, have been able to titrate down on my once a day insulin from 68 units to 50 units, my FBS has greatly improved from being in the 200s down to within normal range and I have soooo much more energy these days!! I will have to come back and post about what the doc had to say today.

Thanks for all the support, team!!

Starting week-7. FBS 204 this morning. Not good! I ate late last night, and I have a tendency toward the morning highs. Maybe tomorrow will be better. Starting the new 15 minute ball workout today. emoticon

I am so proud of you for not giving up and don't ya just love kickboxing. I started it a short time ago and I'm 60, it was so hard but what a sense of accomplishment it gave me. Now I try to do it 2 or 3 times a week and what a difference it has made in how I can move again.
Wishing you lots of luck when you see your MD. I hope she appreciates all the hard work.

Week 7, Day 6...FBS 88

Just came from another amazing taekwondo and kickboxing workout...WOOHOO!! It makes me feel like a million bucks and gives me sooooo much energy. I see my diabetes doc tomorrow morning and she is going to be massively surprised about the weight loss and about my blood sugar numbers. Tomorrow she'll be checking my A1C and cholesterol so I am praying that those have also improved along with everything else.

Happy Monday, team!!

I got sick and in hospital for low sodium level, real set back. I have still been losing wt. and my blood sugars have been real good. So I am starting week 7 all over again. I will get there ths time and on to week 8 next week.

no matter how hard it seems to get I feel so good when I do get to where I want to be each week.

Week 7, Day 3...FBS 67

I am finally off the weight loss plateau...I lost 1 pound this week...WOOHOO!!!!

Blood sugar numbers still looking great. Haven't gotten my exercise in for the day yet. This has been a little bit of a rough day attending the funeral of the 23 year old son of some very good friends. This has zapped all of my energy. I'm still on track with my eating plan and watching my carbs but I may just forgo the exercise and call it a day...

Wishing everyone a sparkified weekend!!

You have a great idea to publicly check in with your progress on your goals. It sounds like you're learning a lot and increasing your exercise intensity. Keep looking at the positive changes you're seeing, and you'll continue to see progress!

Week 7, Day 2...FBS 65...a little low this morning.

My exercise goals for today are to do the strength training video, walk at least 2 miles and practice my taekwondo skills for 30 minutes.

Outside of that, I've got grocery shopping to do and things to get ready before my kids get back from summer camp on Saturday.

Keep on sparkin, team!!

I like your notion of checking in and am happy you are doing this. 145 is a little high but not overwhelming and I'm sure it will go back down right away so don't worry about it. Like you said late night eating does that- to all of us. Seems like you have your head on straight and will do just fine. Keep on truckin!!

I miss having a check-in place so I created one myself for week 7...

Week 7, Day 1...FBS 145 emoticon This is the worst FBS I have had in over a month. I had to eat a really late dinner and although I did not over-eat or eat anything that was off plan, I am really starting to realize that, for myself, if I eat a meal past 7pm my morning fasting is gona be high.

I had a heart pumping, heavy breathing taekwondo workout this morning. It was the best workout I've had so far since returning to class. The energy level is way up and I'm lovin' it!!

Wishing everyone here on week 7 a sparkilicious week...keep up the good work!!
