The start of week 6. I've already done my squats for the day. I will walk around noon and then try to do an exercise video tonight. I'm watching what i'm eating but not really tracking it. I don't know why i can't seem to do this. I may to 2 meals out of the day for maybe 3 days but then i stop tracking. I'll get there. emoticon

Really happy to be posting excellent FBS since I've upped my physical activity! Have even been able to skip my evening glimepiride a couple of times since my sugar was well under 150 two and three hours after dinner! emoticon

WTLSSRTR - Don't be too hard on yourself. Just get right back on the wagon and start a new day. We all have those days - I did just a couple of days ago. I hope you are eating more than salads!! Be sure to get some protein in there. Grill a pork chop, chicken or whatever and have a small potato or sweet potato and a vegetable. Just be sure to weight your meat before you eat. If the meat I eat has a bone then I weight the entire thing and after I'm done I make sure to weigh the bone or left over meat and subtract it from the pre weight. Have yourself some fruit for dessert.

REMEMBER: Be good to yourself because YOU DESERVE IT!!

I have completely fallen off the wagon these past 4 days...I have eaten flour tortillas and my blood sugar was not within the acceptable range for gestational diabetes. I only have 4 weeks left, but it is so hard to persevere! I am so tired of salad!!!

But now it is time to jump back on the wagon and eat for my baby!

Although I'm finishing up week 6 of this challenge tomorrow... this is the first time I've been able to check in the past few weeks!! I've been so crazy busy with end of year activities with my kids, etc... but I have continued to stick to my eating plan, using the exercise videos & strength training, and faithfully filling in my nutrition tracker. My blood sugar numbers are still looking amazing. My morning fasting has continued to run between 84-99 with a couple of days here and there going up to 102 at the most for fasting. Overall, my numbers are staying within 75-110...WOOHOO!! I've able to stay off of all my oral meds and insulin since the middle of December and I've lost a total of 73 pounds since starting this weight loss journey... 3 pounds more than my original goal to lose 70 pounds.

FBS was 150, ate some white cheddar popcorn last night around 8:30, only about 1/4 cup. BS all day yesterday was great, 111 after breakfast, 108 before lunch, 115 after lunch and 119 before dinner but went up to 160 before bed. Night is when my BS goes up. I gained 3 pounds and not sure how since I've stayed around my 1200 calorie goal and below my 150 carbs per day goal. Of course I haven't been feeling the best lately. I will keep pushing.

FBS this morning was 140. Seems to be my normal average. Friday I will increase my Victoza to 1.2 so hopefully that will help the FBS. During the day I can keep it between 103-125.

KERENSA - Don't be too hard on yourself. We have ALL had days like that. Just get right back on the band wagon as soon as possible . When we eat the wrong things that make our BSs rise, it will also make you feel like eating more. It creates a regular circle of events The main thing is that we learn from those mistakes. One thing about this program, we always get another day.

You've done very well on your Journey thus far. Be proud of what you've accomplished.

I had a really bad weekend, FBS on Saturday was 181 :( The higher my BS the more I want to eat and then I get depressed and upset with myself. Yesterday I splurged and ate chili cheese nachos (for a good cause - Caring & Sharing) I should have just given the money and skipped the nachos as my BS three hours later was 195. Today I did better, FBS was 160 and then 111 before lunch. I even went to the gym at work and did 10 minutes on the stationary bike emoticon and another 5 on the treadmill then had to rush back to my desk. BS was still 135 three hours after lunch and the 15 min exercise. I was expecting it to be lower. . I think it was just the full moon making me grumpy over the weekend (that's my story and I'm sticking to it lol). emoticon Today I felt much better and was not quite as hungry as I was over the weekend. I feel better emotionally. I still have not increased my Victoza shot since I wanted to stay on the lowest dose possible but since the FBS are not coming down as I expected I guess I will need to go up to the next level. I'm still at the starting 0.6 dosage. Hope everyone had a much better weekend!

Me I am W6 D7- FBS 119 and yes I do know why - for me this is high. I WILL do better! No weight loss either but I lost 1/2 inch on my waist and for me that is HUGE!! Only 31/2 inches left to go! All my best to everyone in this challenge!

Hi, this is Ali again. I think I am doing fairly well. I haven't lost any weight yet, hanging out in the 234 pound range. I have however, tracked my food on the Diabetic Nutrition Tracker. I also have used the Fitness Tracker most days. I increased my exercise today, from almost 20 minutes to a little over 30 minutes, and then I did deep tissue massage and range of motion exercises for my younger disabled daughter for between 10-15 minutes.
That is the most exercise that I have done or at least have tracked since I joined SparkPeople the end of January!

W6 - D6 FBS 102. I keep eating later at night than I should so my FBS is always up. Ate a half of an orange last night. It was good though LOL

Today I am starting a low fat, low carb, vegetarian diet. *No sugar, no simple carbs and only carbs from veggies, beans and complex gains. I have other health concerns so I am waiting to hear back from my Doctor this morning to see if he thinks this may help.

OK. Now you answered that question. Sounds like fun. I'm doing pretty good but I do tire easily. Took a 2-hour nap today. I will be going to bed soon!!

It's a mini trampoline. I just ran for 30 minutes to ZZTop. Talk about make me sweat! It uses up 535 calories too which I need! Because of my back and weight my Doctor didn't want me to run on anything else. It's fun too!

How are you feeling Judy? I hope you are not over doing it.

Week 6 - D1 - For some reason I keep forgetting to take my FBS so I am going to put a sticky note near my Keurig coffee machine! Started running on my rebounder yesterday and I will be doing that everyday from now on. emoticon Cheers!

emoticon job on getting so far on your quest to get licenses for Registered Home Care Aide. Just remember to take a deep breath and try to relax before hand. Concentrate on your breathing. You already know the material evidently, so remember that this really isn't anything new - - it's just a piece of paper. You've already been doing all the skills associated with it. You will do just fine.

I can't believe that this is week 6 already. I am doing well, better. I'm trying to still figure out aspects of the Nutrition Tracker and the Fitness Tracker, but it is getting a little easier to use now! Other than that my life has been very busy, and I'm happiest when I'm busy.
I am taking the State Boards on Tuesday for becoming a Registered Home Care Aide to help care for my disabled, younger daughter. There is a lot of pressure for me to pass this test because I will lose my job if I don't pass, and that has to happen by March 31st!
I suffer from test anxiety anyway and also have equal amounts of ADD and ADHD, so I am worried about remembering all the steps associated with the skills test. I'm not too worried about the written test as much as I am about the skills test. Please wish me luck and I'll check in again next week.
Take care both old and new team members.

Week 6-Day 7 Moving on tomorrow to Week 7. Can't believe I am actually this far. I am determined to make it to the end!

FSB was high this am - 175. Forgot to take my Levimir last night emoticon It will probably run high all day now. I will be very careful with my carb intake until I get it stabilized.

Off to school and maybe a walk later, looks like a nice day

Week 6-Day 6 FBS 101

. emoticon Weigh in today-lost 1.8 pounds!
Last week I gained a pound so this puts me back on track.

Went for a walk outside yesterday, it was nice to be able to get out. Today is kind of icky, looks like rain (better than snow). I am doing a cardio DVD today and the Prevention Lower Body Workout.

Last day for week 6. Did 7 days of cardio. Only 15 min today but 25 min other days. Got 3 toning sessions in. Recorded daily and drank water. 6 days with good FBS and one day okay after panic eating in evening.

On to Week 7

Week 6 day 4- forgot to take my FBS

Carol-great on your exercise streak! You will have to keep testing to see how exercise effects your bs. It does nothing to much to mine. I take it before, take it after cardio for 30-40 min and usually it is higher if not the same. Everyone is different.

It is horrible to wake up with low bs when sleeping. It is very scary when I have had it happen in the past. I have had to adjust my Levimir at bedtime as I have become healthier so the amount I was taking was making my morning number too low. (After speaking with my doctor).

I am planning on some laid back cardio today and I am going to try some lower body exercises I saw in Prevention. 10 minutes once or twice a day. And no kneeling, which I need do to my knee injury.

CAROL - I have a tendency to go hypo easily with no warning many times. I never go to bed with my BS less than 110 - - I do know that I feel my best when my BS is 120. I ALWAYS have a snack before I go to bed - nothing big. I might have a slice of bread with 2 TBS of PB2 (if you've never heard of this or tried it, it's peanut butter in powder form with about 65% less fat - you just add 1 TB of water to 2TB of powdered PB2). It tastes pretty good and smells just like Jiff peanut butter. Sometimes I might have a small bowl of cereal before I go to bed; sometimes it might be 1/2 of a sandwich or graham crackers and skim milk.

As of yesterday, I exercised daily for 7 days.

I was worried about by BS last night. After supper, before exercising it was 99. A number I have only had a couple of times as FBS and never at any other time of day, so I was worried that it would tank either while exercising or sometime during the night. I panic mode, literally, ate a cookie, fruit and half glass of milk. This morning my FBS was 126, higher than normal. So did I over react last night? Anyone know what may be too low before exercising or going to bed

Week 6 - Day 3 FBS 109 again

Did good with the water yesterday and should be fine today. Did a three mile walk video/low impact aerobics yesterday also. For today I will complete a Gilad low impact aerobic DVD and some Spark ST workout videos.

This challenge is keeping me consistent. I feel like I have to get some exercise in everyday and it make me feel Great!
