Not such a great day, but I stayed within my calories so that's something. Had to eat sonic because we were without power from severe storms.
Thanks for the support y'all!

Thanks for being here Kay. It's always good to see that someone is listening. I'm just posting before I run out and go home for the day. Things got really busy here. My computer at home is doing it's own thing. I think my son has caught a virus and it was working offline on Sunday. I will have to call U-Verse and have them check it for me. That will take all night. Have a good evening everyone.

Week 4 Day 1
Good morning everyone. Things are going well so far. I was down 2.5 lbs last week. I was so happy, I did a dance. I did my Wii Fit this morning as usual. I so enjoy doing that and I know that I will get up and do it. That's the great thing about it. I have never felt this charged up about doing the WATP dvds. I will do that this evening when I get home. It's 18 minutes and then I do the 20 band workout. I got a consistency award and a 500 point trophy. Great accomplishments. Feels so good to be doing something for me for a change.
Have a good, productive day.

This is my second day and I'm loving it. This is just what I needed to take it to different level. I will start measuring myself as well. But I have a question. My knees hurt when trying to do squats. Do anyone know of any other kind of exercises I can do?

Have to admit have not been exercising lately, but pushed myself Friday - I worked out with my Richard Simmond video and cleaned house and then yesterday did more house cleaning and cleaned out my shed. I am taking today off!!! Planning on using my video again Tuesday (having bad weather tomorrow in the area and I have trouble with my legs)

Lauri: Your rocking and doing all the right things. Always do what you can with the exercise. If you can't do exactly what the videos show you to do, try doing whatever you can and modify it. Many things can be done from a chair. When it comes to the dumbbells in week 5 don't sweat it. Do the standing things and then sit down on a straight chair and modify the floor mat stuff. Or stick with the resistance bands and do extra reps if you can!
All movement that doesn't invole putting food in your mouth is good motion! Remember we are all here for you Kay & The Pups emoticon emoticon

I can't believe this is the last day of week 4 for me. I've stayed on track with my food tracking and my water. I'm still having problems with getting in my exercise video enough times a week. My schedule the last couple of weeks has been out of control and I can't seem to find 30 minutes in one increment to sit down and do the workout. I've been trying to fit exercise in in other places like parking further away, not using a scooter and walking the store instead, etc. I'm doing pretty good with that. I have to start off with really light exercise because I have advanced arthritis and need knee replacements in both knees. I am joining Weight Watcher's as of Monday and am back to losing weight. I've lost over 2 pounds this week already. This is a relief after one week of gaining and one week of no loss. I was glad to see the scale move down.

Wellll... I spent yesterday monitoring a tornado. It hit about noon, fortunately we didn't have any damage. We did have a power outage and I spent about 20 minutes in our safe room. I ate too much by 200 calories, my way of coping. My blood sugar was 201 when I took it before lunch and after the major part of the storm passed. I did log, but tensely watching TV isn't exercise.

Take and break the workouts into smaller time frames. Don't for get that heavy housecleaning counts as cardio work out. Every housewife has at leaset 30 mins a week of heavy housework that you can count. Just keep track of what it is that you do.
Depending on how old the babysitting children are you can always find little games that you can play with them to count as cardio. 10 mins of simon says if you do bending and stretching and moving your body about will count for cardio! Wishing you success in looking for all the activities you do in a day around children. Even bending and lifting the baby in the air a few time will increase your heart rate. Kay & The Pups emoticon

Hi everyone!

It's week 4, day 4 for me and I will admit that I am struggling this week. I am doing fine with eating but I am really having to push to get my exercise in. I didn't do anything yesterday and I have to babysit today so I doubt that I will do anything but my strength training. I have Lupus and energy is always an issue but right now I have a cold on top of that and am really struggling. UGH!!

How suggestions for how to cope when you have ZERO energy?

Week 4, Day 3

On program yesterday, did 20 minutes on my exercise machine - sweat. I had spectacular BS reading after that. It's raining today, so probably won't walk, instead will work faster on machine to make it aerobic.

In it till the end

LHOUSE63: Sounds like the challenge is working for You! Great job, good thing you took your BS after exercise. I'm sure you know what to do if you start getting lower readings. Or start feeling the warning signs of low blood sugar ! wish that my blood sugars came in that good after exercise. I'm still staying under 200, but I still realy can't get it down closer to 100! That is my goal, with that I know that my A1C will be better in May. Keep your successes coming your way ! kay & the pups emoticon

Week 4, Day 2

Whew, I weighed again this morning and found that I have already lost the gain from the weekend. Our scale can be a little flucky, so am relieved that yesterdays reading was off. I was on program yesterday, it was a rest day for me. My BS was 141 before breakfast, pretty good for me. Will get on my exercise machine today, for half an hour.

Keepin going... in it till the end
Lynn

10:30 A.M. Ate breakfast, exercised and took my BS.. It was 87! I've never had a reading that low, ever. Had to report, now!

I don't know your situation. It sounds to me that staying under 100 BS is not the best goal for a diabetic. One of my Drs. said if I got under 140 he would be happy. An other Dr. said 90 to 120 is the best rang but that under 100 I needed be careful. Staying at 100 and under there is no room if I dip and still not have run too the candy jar.

WOW Drew, I saw this only because I have been following a couple of people back here in week 4 and some in week3. I know that when I was going though those weeks I was looking for encouragment from others. Thanks so much for this really has been open of the best challenges that I have taken place in. I'm really putting all the information that I have gotten from the different articles together with the workouts and Progress has been coming my way. Have a great day Drew! Kay & The Pups emoticon

Week 4, Day 3

I went to my 1st Weight Watchers meeting last night and loved it. I thought that they had a lot of really positive people and a lot of good information. I tihink it will be a good place for me and since I have 5 or 6 friends in that group I'll always have a workout buddy. I can't officially join until the 1st when we get paid, but I'm really looking forward to starting it and finding out all I can about the program and how it works. I want to get back on a losing streak and start getting healthy. I started off so strong and then my body started rebelling and gaining weight on my current program. I have a new outlook and a new purpose. Now it's time for a whole new me!

Week 4, Day 1

Back from 3 day road trip. I thought I did pretty well. Did watch what I ate, did take my meds, did stay active, did gain 3 pounds. That can't be real, can it? Nobody knows because I didn't log, didn't take my blood sugar, and didn't do concentrated exercise. Maybe it's water weight or irregularity. Anyway I'm still doing it, and will be home to properly take care of myself.

NANALD: Do the very best that you can do. When I frist started up I was doing 5 mins. here and 5 mins there , until I had what they wanted me to do. Kind of worked out that everytime I got up I'd walk around in a marching step for a few min. till my heart rate rose some. It worked for me. Then after a few months I found that the activity was giving me more enegry and that was a wonderful feeling. Stick with it as best you can and much success to you ! Kay & The Pups emoticon

Hi everyone! This is my first day of week 4 and I just reviewed the goals. Fortunately they seem doable:) My biggest challenge for the week will be the cardio. I have a chronic illness and my energy level is at an all time low right now so just getting the energy to move is tough right now. I am determined to do it though! I've made it this far and I don't want to give up!

I hope everyone has a great week!

GKENNY: You stick with the Challenge. As long as you are putting in the time for cardio and strength then I'd think that you should stick it out! They give us guidelines to follow to keep us on track with the increase of time put in. Not everyone can do those videos that Coach Nicole shows us, but as long as your moving your body with the two different types of activity that seems to be what they are working on. Wishing you all the success with the Challenge ! Kay & The Pups emoticon emoticon You Go GKENNY emoticon emoticon

Day 2 of week 4 I get weighed in the morning, only lost 1 LB. last week but I went up the week be for. Over all my Blood Sugars are down But the last two days in the 200 range I am hopping that I have been taking it to soon after I eat, It seems that it takes me at lest 3 hours for my sugars to come down after I eat. I have been getting my workouts in, I'm hopping that make a deference. I don't know if I should stay in this challenge or not my workouts are not the same what is suggested I am doing what the Physical Therapist and Trainer have worked out for me.

Week 4, Day 1 I'm starting off with a fresh attitude. I'm going to go to a Weight Watcher's meeting tomorrow night and see about joining their program. The current program I'm working seems to have some flaws in it, and I'm getting too many differing opinions on what's wrong to try to fix it and keep working it. I've been doing the same thing since the first week when I lost 7.6 pounds and yet now I'm gaining weight on a 1200-1300 calorie diet. It makes no sense when the only difference is I've added in some exercise. I think Weight Watchers will be a good choice and of course I'll stay with SparkPeople to log my daily foods and exercise and make everything work. You can't get rid of me that easily! LOL

I am so happy with how strong my willpower to stick with the program is. I've never stuck to anything this long or this closely before. It's been an amazing journey for me and being held accountable for everything I stick in my mouth really helps. I chickened out on telling my life coach I was switching off her program because she is a good friend, but I'm not buying their supplements and I can still wor on some of TSFL's philosophies. I like the program if I could actually be on the program, but doing a modified version is just not working for me.

I hope the new program is a success. I know it will offer me more variety and more realistic choices about what to eat. I like that.

Hugs, Lauri

Here it is the last day of week 4 for me. Tomorrow is weigh-in day and I'm not sure what I will find. But that doesn't matter! I'm doing the exercises and I'm eating healthy and you don't have to lose weight every week. sometimes the body has to adjust to all the changes that you are putting it through. so with the 12" lose I'm happy. Sure i want a lose anything would get great! Looking forward to moving up to the 5th week and what the coaches have in store for us. This really has been a great Challenge. Taking things slow and easy to get us directed into the healthy lifestyle that those with Diabetes have to live. Thanks goes out to Glucerna also for being the Sponsers ! Thanks big time! Hello All,

Congrat's with the loss Kay. I am sure that you were very happy to find that out.

Glad you had a good day too.

I will be ending this 4th week on Monday and will be starting the 5th week. I am so anxious to get going. I will continue to do my exercises and stay on the same track. It has been great.

Hope everyone stays safe, healthy, and warm.

Best wishes to all!

Thanks for using the tape measure for a tracker it reminded me that I'd not measure in some time! It really did surprise me to have lose in the areas that I'd lost. Thighs and hip and waist. Usually it starts with my bust!
I did 30 mins. of cardio by doing a 30min dvd on aerobic exercises today. Logged in and tracked my fitness and food. Talked with others here on the site. Now it is time to close the book on this wonderful Friday. Have a wonderful Successful weekend everyone. Stick with your plan to live a healthy and happy lifestyle! Kay & The Pups emoticon

Hello All,

Congratulations, Kay, on doing such a good job. It is great that you actually lost 12". Hope you keep it up.

I will have to get out my tape measure and see if I have lost any inches too.

I will be doing some of my elastic band today along with the weights for my arms.

Hope everyone stays safe, healthy, and warm.

Best wishes to all!

Here we are into week 4 and mid week and mid challenge! I measured myself when I started and I'm happy to share with you all that don't forget to take out that tape measure I have lost 12" over all the body! That was a very nice surprise! What about YOU? Maybe when the scale doesn't drop don't forget to check your inches!
I have walked my intervals with Leslie today and also took the pups out for a Spring walk!
Got to do the resistance bands workout after I go out and get a new band. On Tuesday I was working out and finished the last exercise and snap, POP broke the resistance band! Handle on my foot and handle in my hand and there was no Resistance! TeeHee over did it maybe, Wishing you all successes that can be measured this week. Kay & The Pups emoticon

Hello All,

Yesterday I did a lot of walking so I didn't do too much of the elastic band and weights. I didn't even do my bike because I was so tired. I am hoping to get back in the saddle again today. Hopefully by the weekend I will be back to what I am suppose to be doing.

Hope everyone stays safe, healthy, and warm.

Best wishes to all!

I have worked my way up to 4 miles walking almost every day, but on the other days I get at least a mile in. I'm still coming in just above my calorie range almost every day, but on other days I'm getting it right. I just don't seem to be able to make a habit of doing the strength training videos, though. That is being a struggle.

Even with eating less and all the walking, I am still not losing weight. Neither am I gaining, so that is a plus. I definitely feel better and move much more easily. Nothing hurts, and I move with more confidence, so I am getting great benefits from Sparking.

Here I am in the middle of the week and concerned about if I'm losing. I have agreed with myself that I do so much better as long as I stay OFF the SCALE. So everytime I go near it I have to remind myself that it could not say what I want to see and it would posibly set me off in the wrong direction! emoticon So I just finished with most of my postings here on SP and I"m going to start my areobic exercise video for 30 min,s then have my lunch and enter my fitness and food into the trackers. Hope that everyone is having a good week. These four weeks have been moving along quickly! Thanks everyone for your positive encouragement during this time here with the SP Diabetic Weight-Loss Challenge! Success to each of YOU ! emoticon emoticon emoticon

Hello All,

I am doing week 4 all over again. I did some exercises yesterday and am going to do some more today. I don't think that I am where I am suppose to be in weight exercises. I will see if I can do some more.

Hope everyone stays safe, healthy, and warm.

Best wishes to all!

WEZZYCHEESY I'm so sorry for you lose. It doesn't make it any better if you know it is coming or not. Try to stick with your plans for healthy living lifestyle during this difficult time. Thinking of you and your family at this time and asking God to give you strength.
