No more diet snapple! I was a worker bee yesterday, never stopping from 7am to 2:30am cleaning house, doing laundry, walking, stretching, I could sit still... Dah! 64 oz of Diet snapple for some one who usually only drinks water..

Week 4.....Day 2

Back on track this morning, the challenge now for me is to stay there. Getting that grocery list ready for next week. Rain but with no humidity for next week. So walking may have just hit a break. Lazy day but plenty of house work on the agenda.

Haven't been working- Stay at home mom last 2 years- Starting back to work this week and in a new more physical career. Very excited but hoping I pack enough food in my lunch chest as I won't be near any other options. Last, 3 days have been a bit of a roller coaster from eating 700 calories to 1600 calories w exercise and finishing off at about 800 calories today. Exercising daily but tired tonight. Up at 5am tomorrow going to bed now to make sure I get enough sleep. Keeping thinking positive thoughts for me as I move forward!

Day 2--great day for husband's bday but not so good for exercising. missed all my sessions.

NOLA - So sorry to hear about your SI pain. I know how painful that can be. Have you tried any of the smoothies - particularly the green smoothies? Be sure to add pineapple as pineapple is a natural pain relief especially for inflammation due to arthritis etc. With the smoothies you can also add in ground nuts and yogurt to help with your proteins. You have to do what works for you within the guidelines of your GP.

Whoot! I'm on week 4! Haven't exercised in a couple of days though. I've been down and out with a miserable cold. Feeling better today though so we'll see how this evenings work out goes. I'm not going to push it too hard but I'll get through what I can. I want to day in the habit!

I have had a rough start to week 4. SI joint pain is cutting into my walking and The diabetes diet style given to me by the dietician did not do well with my GP. I will go back to more liquids and puree and hope to be able to get in enough proteins,

Something's off today and can't put my finger on it, but I know the source.

A late afternoon snack of pecans turned into my dinner of pecans. I was ravenous and over-ate on one food.

Stayed within calories, but now I'm thinking I should have eaten something later on to kind of balance the overload of pecans.

Life needs balance

Thank you for the information Judy E. I will be trying regular old fashioned oats tomorrow morning with some raisins and cinnamon, pre-made enough for the entire week. I've lost 16 pounds so far since the 11th of April. I am going to start throwing some toning exercises in a couple days a week. FBS today was 138 and before dinner was 113. Loving these new bs numbers. Have a great day!

KSLAY - The instant oatmeal will definitely raise your blood sugar as there is "sugar" in the packaged stuff! The original oatmeal and then adding your raisins or whatever is much better for you!!

A lot of your energy is going to come from your carbs so don't skimp too much on it. It will also provide you with fiber and other nutrients that your body needs.

FBS this morning was 162, higher than I would have expected. I have been waking with a headache every morning but not so bad that I can't function. Not sure if it is because of the Victoza shot or if it is that I'm not getting enough carbs each day. Most days I hit about 110 carbs out of the 150 for the day, other days I don't hit 100. But I can't eat when I'm not hungry. I need to start exercising more than I am. Just been tired and no energy. Today I will be busy cleaning out my son's room, who is moving out, and setting it up into my quilt/computer room. I think I will burn quite a few calories lol. Found out that I can't eat the instant oatmeal (raisin spice) as it shoots my sugar up (went from 140 before eating to 188 almost 3 hours after). I'm going to try my regular oatmeal and add a few raisins and try that. Wanting to find other things to eat besides eggs and a slice of toast. emoticon

I'm down 18 lbs as of this morning, which is great! Last night I didn't have the stuff I thought I did at the house and ended up ordering pizza instead of cooking. I am trying not to beat myself up over it because I didn't eat the 5 pieces I normally would, I didn't get a thick crust, and I haven't eaten out in 3 weeks. But I definitely feel that I need to move on from it. I had it for breakfast, too, and I figure after eating a piece for lunch I'll be sick of it and ready to get it out of my life for a while again.

What Linda Spangle says is true - after the first 2 bites, I don't crave it anymore. Its nice to feel some control over food instead of the other way around.

THEPOET,

Eating below your recommended calorie range isn't good for a few reasons. One is that it can make weight loss more difficult in the long run because your metabolism slows down to compensate for the fact that you aren't eating enough. Another reason is that it's very difficult to get all of the nutrients your body needs on so few calories, so it's bad for your health. The best way to take weight off is to do it in a healthy way that establishes habits you can live with for the rest of your life. So keep that in mind when making any kind of changes to your diet.

I would recommend talking to your doctor about what's going on, and perhaps they can refer you to see a professional who specializes in eating disorders if your doc feels like that's what you need. Here are a few articles about easy ways to boost your calories and recognizing if you have an eating disorder and need help:

Hope that helps. If you have questions, please let us know.

THEPOET465 - emoticon to the team!! So glad you could join us. There's a lot to learn on this challenge so just take it one step and one day at a time. emoticon . There's no rush to get through these Weekly Discussions. I've actually gone through this program twice - the last one being a refresher and it amazes me how much more I learned the second time through.

If you haven't already done so, please go to the SITE GUIDE located towards the top of your Start Page and go through the Welcome Guide and the Site Tour Video. These will both help you to learn about the site and help you get around it.

Next, go to the ARTICLES & VIDEOS section also located at the top of your Start Page. It is here that you can learn so many different things. Learn all you can about diabetes - what causes diabetes, how to treat diabetes, symptoms of diabetes, and the complications that can happen with uncontrolled diabetes. You will also be able to find videos of different exercises, recipes, motivation, nutrition, as well as the Spark Diet.

At the top of the page you will see the word SPARKPEOPLE. Right after that you will see a blank space with the word SEARCH after it. If you aren't sure about what carbohydrates are, then type in the word Carbohydrates and then press your Enter button. This should bring you up a list of carbohydrates such as starchy carbohydrates, carbohydrates with high fiber which you need to keep your intestinal track is A-1 shape such as fruits, vegetables, etc.

Now, go to the My Trackers. It is here where you'll find:

1) The Nutrition Tracker. This is a great tool. It will give you excellent feedback as to whether or not you need to increase or decrease the number of calories, carbs, fats, and protein each day. .

2) The Fitness Tracker. This tracker will help to keep you accountable to yourself. Start out very slowly - 10 minutes is good but if you feel it is too much for you, then try doing two 5-minute sessions. You need some exercise such as walking to keep your muscles from getting too weak. Exercise is also a great way to deal with stress.

You need to strive to get AT LEAST at the lower end of the calorie allowance given to you by the dietician and/or your doctor. Your 300-900 calories is way to low. When you eat that few of calories for the entire day, your body will go into starvation mode and will hang on to all the food and fats that it can, thinking that it's not going to be getting anymore to eat for the day. Actually, you need to eat to lose weight in a healthy way. I'm not a doctor or even a nurse, but your eating so few calories has me worried.

If you even think you might be anorexic or have an eating disorder, there is a team on SparkPeople that deals with others with the same problems. I would suggest that you look up that team and consider joining it as well as still maintaining with this challenge. Have you told your doctor about your possible eating disorder? I would advise you to do so also. You don't want it to get any worse.

With SparkPeople, you are never alone on this journey. There is always someone lurking around the site that will be more than happy to help you. We are here to help, support, and encourage one another along their own journey. Feel free to read the posts from other people as well. Another member may have put something in their post that will be just the answer you are looking for. You might have the very thing written on your post that they might be looking for also.

If you have any questions, please let us know. We are here for you because YOU ARE WORTH IT!!

since joining Spark Pages, I have been losing between 1 and 2 pounds a week. This past week, lost 4 pounds, but am not getting the required nutrients or calories required for a healthy diet. I have to rely on the food banks or food stamps a lot, they usually do not have healthier items.

So today, I just received a big food order from my bishop. it has lost of vegetables, meat, and fruits. My food stamps will then be used for other items that are not at the church's storehouse.

This months loss was from 250 to 238...but it has been going up and down lately between 247 and 240. I think I really weigh the 240 because it is without clothes and I wear clothes being weighed at the doctors...am happy it is that way, lol

I need good ideas on how to increase my carbohydrates, fats, and proteins. The protein is seriously low and i avoid fatty foods...not sure why the suggestion to me was to increase carbohydrates. I am not sure what foods are considered carbohydrates. My calorie intake is suppose to be somewhere in the 1400 range and I met that goal twice this month. The rest of the tracking is usually 300 to 900.

Someone told me that i am getting anorexic about eating. I think she may be correct because if I gain 6 oz, I eat less. Can anyone help me change this malfunction of the brain, that is what I am calling it. I am on 11 medications to help me sleep, help my depression and anxiety, ADHD,and even for heartburn. (gerd).

I am even on one for my episodic ataxia. please feel free to look it up: it is a bit complicated. I have had the last diagnosis since 6th grade. I was told that I was seeking attention or it was all in my head. My son also has it, his doctor put him on same medication and now his symptoms are almost gone. This is hereditary, and when there is an attack, one lose the ability to walk unaided, and looks like they are drunk or has cerebral palsy.

I do not want to add anorexic to my list, i want off all my meds, but my counselor told me that i will need them for the rest of my life.

SANDRA - Don't worry about a small gain from time to time. Sometimes it depends on how much sodium you've had the day before or that time of month/or would have been that time of month etc. Sometimes the scale just seems like it won't move no matter what you do. It's at times like these that you need to look back at how far you've already come, how much more energy you have, how much looser your clothes are becoming. It happens to all of us from time to time.

Week 4 Day 2: I logged 3 hours of walking in for today. I ate 2 salads, yogurt with chia seeds, peanuts and v8 juice. I will round out the remaining calories with greens, chicken and fruit. I have been logging in my calories and I tried a different salad today. My exercise video came late yesterday, but I plan on doing some gardening tomorrow. I will fit the video in later this week. emoticon

MARLEYBOY - Are you measuring and tracking everything that goes into your mouth? Are you getting any exercise in and tracking that as well? Do you run the Nutrition Report at the end of the day (it is found in the list under your My Tracker and see if your carbs are too high or if your fat is more than your protein. Try to keep your carbs at the low end of your allowed amount. Your Protein should always be a larger percentage that your fats. Look back over your Nutrition Tracker and see if you can see where you might be going wrong. How are your clothes fitting? Are they getting looser? Do you have more energy? Don't be afraid to start over with week 1. I've taken the entire Challenge over and I learn more each time I take it. I know I will be retaking the Challenge over again in a couple of months because I learn more each time I take it. Don't give up!! YOU ARE WORTH IT!! Keep on pushing on. Everything will fall into place eventually.

I'm so sorry that you've gotten so sick, I wish you a speedy recovery! I suffer from heart disease so have to take it sort of slow and as the Cardiologist stated, "you live in a very small box." What he meant was that it is a balancing act trying to find the right dose of medication that won't cause me to gain weight. I have been steadily gaining weight and using all of the SparkPeople sites religiously! That is really frustrating!

Anyway, I hope you are soon back at work and can soon get up and at it, with your SP Nutrition and Fitness Tracker's!

I can't believe it is already week 4. I have already learned so much about what foods I can handle and those I can't and have been faithfully using the Nutrition Tracker and most recently have started using the Fitness Tracker and am finding out that moving this body feels good. I feel happier, it helps my depression and I generally feel more energized and sleep better!

Who knew, certainly not me! I'm so grateful for the all encompassing SP program, it has everything anyone could need to reach and most importantly, maintain, for life my weight.
What a concept! Thank you all my SP friends and welcome to all the new SP! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Week 4-Day 7 FBS 128, a little high. I don't know why.

End of Week 4 and I am down 11.7 pounds from beginning of the Challenge! Not only that, but I feel much better, I am eating healthier and exercising almost every day.

Can't wait for Week 5!

Simadownnow-sorry for loss and your rough week. Hang in there.

starting week 4 - completly off the goals... two family members passed away, two more are in hospice... had to take a trip for work midweek and I forgot meds at home, caught a head cold, had no computer access... and ate things off the diet... totally gained weight back - frustrated because 4 weeks in I am starting all over... I did get some exercise... but the number on the scale is a big motivator hate to see it going back up.

so tonight, I'm praying and starting over in the morning.

Week 4-Day 3
FBS 121

Been so hectic lately. Need to slow down. Just so much to get done. Seems like I didn't have so much to do when I was working, now that I am unemployed I am always having to do something. Need to let somethings go. Have to check for job postings, do my school work exercise, etc.

Been doing well with my fitness goals, and trying to eat right. Time will tell.

Good week so far. Getting in 30 minutes of walking every morning, and have done .5 mile at the pool twice this week. BS still stinks, but it's my own fault.

Headed away this weekend. Going to learn to cross country ski and snow shoe! If those don't burn some calories.. I don't know what will!!

Week 4-Day 2 FBS 120 - had a late night snack.

School this am walked around campus after class. Did some ST before I left. Later this afternoon I will do some step while I watch my TV show.

Week 4-Day 1 Fasting BS 88

Can't believe it is week 4 already! Yeah for me for keeping on track!

Planning a Walking DVD 2 miles with Leslie Sansone, then the band work out.

Have healthy meals planned for the week.

Well, after being out for 3 weeks with the "crud", I'm finally back! So I'm starting back on week 4, which is where I left off at. The bad news... was not careful with my diet and exercise for those 3 weeks. So, the fitness level has dropped and the FBS has increased. The good news... somehow I managed to not gain a single pound.

So... getting serious this week. With both exercise and food. Only 1.5 lbs to go till my first mini goal... 210. So that is the plan... I WILL reach that goal by next Monday!

Week Four - Day 4 - FBS 97. Finally able to get though the walk & jog DVD and I am totally focused on my strength training. Would love to get rid of my bat wings! Not sure if that is possible at my age but I am going to try! emoticon today!

Week Four -Day 3 Forgot to get my FBS -

However, I am actually getting muscles (small ones) in my biceps. I can now do 4 sets of 10 reps of "sink" pushups. I need to work on more strength training than anything else because I need to be able to carry all my birding gear while I hike. I think I will also start using my re-bounder for my cardio as my back has been hurting from some of the strength training. At my age I have to keep pushing though. emoticon

Week Four - Day 1 FBS 118 (Not sure why)
Weight emoticon 148.2. I know I am gaining muscle so I am happy!!! When I first started this challenge I couldn't do 10 "sink pushups" without stopping and starting etc. Now I can do 3 sets of 10 without much effort until the last few. I will be adding some new goals this week as well.

Happy Valentine's Day!

did good in week 3 even though I couldn't check in like I wanted, MIL was in hosp. Now she's home and we're doing a lot of running to dif. doctors. I'm making plans though so not to get in trouble with my blood sugar getting too low or not having healthy options.
Feels good to have a plan.

Finished week 4 of challenge today. I did my cardio and the resistance band video--which I like a lot; I'll probably go back to it once in a while. Glad to be finding these videos.
Am trying to follow my calorie count, but am still amazed at how some foods add up.

Go team! Stay strong!

I'm liking the resistance band video; I'm using the least resistance and the next level up since I'm trying to increase my strength.
Did my usual cardio/interval training on the treadmill.

Go team! Stay strong!
