LINDA - You are doing an emoticon job all the way around!! I'm so proud of you!! I can really empathize with you as I have had a total knee construction on both of my knees. The more weight you can lose and the more toning up of your leg muscles before surgery, the better it will be for you all the way around. Keep up the good work!!!

Tomorrow will be my first day of week 4. I am controlling my diabetes with diet and exercise so far. I have gotten my morning Bld sug under 120 with most mornings it is under 110. My goal is under 100.
When I started this journey my morning BS ranged from 110 to 150.

The exercise is critical. I am unable to walk for any distance, so my exercise is water aerobics 3-4 day a week and then an elliptical for 10 minutes on the other days. I started at 30 seconds and it took a year to build up to my 10 minutes (which is really hard for me, but doable)

I also do strength building on non water aerobics days.

My goal is to have knee surgery so that I can walk again

goal is to be able to walk again

MICHELE - Great on dropping 2 units of insulin. Keep up the good work! Keep a close eye on your sugars as stress can make them rise and in my case it can also make them crash. Will keep you and your hubby in my prayers for a good biopsy report!!

emoticon posting for week 4. Husband in the process of having a biopsy for Cancer and this week as been hectic to say the least. However, all FBS have been under 100 and Insulin for morning has dropped 2 Units, PM dose remains at 10 Us. Outside activity depended on weather but inside was done in between texts and doctors. Week 5 will be a challenge in its delf until hubby gets straightened out.

MICHELE142 - FBS 68 - you might want to be sure to have a snack before you go to bed so as to help you keep your FBS from getting too low. SNACK IDEAS: 1/2 sandwich; cottage cheese and fruit; crackers and cheese etc.

I am so glad I was able to be more prepared for eating my food at the right times on my job today. Only ended up having a 1/2 day but I was glad to be prepared. Now I am going to go swimming and walking later tonight. I am so glad to be down 34.4 lbs since I started working on it in early May. Can't wait till I am down 40lbs.

Happy Monday- I am glad I stocked up on my Core- Defender bars this weekend- I ended up having to split the meal replacement bar in half and eat half for a snack and the other half for lunch as I wasn't able to leave the job site and go back to my truck. I had some fruit and my oatmeal/egg white patty when I got back to my truck before heading home. All together another successful day..Lots of walking, climbing and stairs at work.

Live with courage, compassion and joy!

No more diet snapple! I was a worker bee yesterday, never stopping from 7am to 2:30am cleaning house, doing laundry, walking, stretching, I could sit still... Dah! 64 oz of Diet snapple for some one who usually only drinks water..

Week 4.....Day 2

Back on track this morning, the challenge now for me is to stay there. Getting that grocery list ready for next week. Rain but with no humidity for next week. So walking may have just hit a break. Lazy day but plenty of house work on the agenda.

Haven't been working- Stay at home mom last 2 years- Starting back to work this week and in a new more physical career. Very excited but hoping I pack enough food in my lunch chest as I won't be near any other options. Last, 3 days have been a bit of a roller coaster from eating 700 calories to 1600 calories w exercise and finishing off at about 800 calories today. Exercising daily but tired tonight. Up at 5am tomorrow going to bed now to make sure I get enough sleep. Keeping thinking positive thoughts for me as I move forward!

Day 1--too much pizza for dinner; did my usual 30 walking, 30 interval, 20 strength (the video for this challenge)
Day 2--great day for husband's bday but not so good for exercising. missed all my sessions.
Day 3 and Day 4--both days not good for my journey to health but great days for our new house. Lots of decisions made and plans finalized. Will be back on track Monday.
Day 5--good day: back to exercise routine--interval, strength, walking. right at calorie limit, but finished birthday cake, so no more temptations from that.
Day 6--despite company was able to get in my exercise. was watching what I ate--and stayed in range, but need to make healthier choices
Day 7--Not a strong week for me. Work on new house and a visiting cousin made me lazy, so I don't think I'll have good reports this week.
I do intend to do better in week 5; need to keep my focus.

NOLA - So sorry to hear about your SI pain. I know how painful that can be. Have you tried any of the smoothies - particularly the green smoothies? Be sure to add pineapple as pineapple is a natural pain relief especially for inflammation due to arthritis etc. With the smoothies you can also add in ground nuts and yogurt to help with your proteins. You have to do what works for you within the guidelines of your GP.

I have had a rough start to week 4. SI joint pain is cutting into my walking and The diabetes diet style given to me by the dietician did not do well with my GP. I will go back to more liquids and puree and hope to be able to get in enough proteins,

Something's off today and can't put my finger on it, but I know the source.

A late afternoon snack of pecans turned into my dinner of pecans. I was ravenous and over-ate on one food.

Stayed within calories, but now I'm thinking I should have eaten something later on to kind of balance the overload of pecans.

Life needs balance

FBS this morning was the lowest it has ever been, 122!!! I'm so excited. Today I go to see the dietician for my 30 day follow up and can't wait to show her my numbers. emoticon

Kathy thank you for the words of encouragement!

Great work, Karensa. It looks like you have found what works for you. It is frustrating when nothing seems to work. You stuck with it until you found the right program. Congratulations.

Thank you for the information Judy E. I will be trying regular old fashioned oats tomorrow morning with some raisins and cinnamon, pre-made enough for the entire week. I've lost 16 pounds so far since the 11th of April. I am going to start throwing some toning exercises in a couple days a week. FBS today was 138 and before dinner was 113. Loving these new bs numbers. Have a great day!

KSLAY - The instant oatmeal will definitely raise your blood sugar as there is "sugar" in the packaged stuff! The original oatmeal and then adding your raisins or whatever is much better for you!!

A lot of your energy is going to come from your carbs so don't skimp too much on it. It will also provide you with fiber and other nutrients that your body needs.

FBS this morning was 162, higher than I would have expected. I have been waking with a headache every morning but not so bad that I can't function. Not sure if it is because of the Victoza shot or if it is that I'm not getting enough carbs each day. Most days I hit about 110 carbs out of the 150 for the day, other days I don't hit 100. But I can't eat when I'm not hungry. I need to start exercising more than I am. Just been tired and no energy. Today I will be busy cleaning out my son's room, who is moving out, and setting it up into my quilt/computer room. I think I will burn quite a few calories lol. Found out that I can't eat the instant oatmeal (raisin spice) as it shoots my sugar up (went from 140 before eating to 188 almost 3 hours after). I'm going to try my regular oatmeal and add a few raisins and try that. Wanting to find other things to eat besides eggs and a slice of toast. emoticon

I only lost 1/2 pound last week. The last two weeks have been very good, so I guess my body is consolidating the gains. I hope so. I will know next Thursday.
