I am well aware that the weight loss doesn't CURE my arthritis but what it does is greatly reduce the pain from it. We can only do what we can only do and sometimes that helps a LOT.

With love and caring from Nancy ... wishing all of you a wonderful, blessed, and precious day.

Thank you for sharing. I will try it. I noticed that one day after exercising, my blood glucose was 150. I hadn't been in the 100s for a while. It is easy enough for me to get on my elliptical after eating.

Try harder--in everything that you do!

If the mind mends, the body will follow.

Gluten free is working for me!

I have Rheumatoid Arthritis and have about run out of options; because of the CKD I can't take most of the meds for the disease. I am learning to find other ways to deal with it and with God's help am doing OK. You're right, that means even more than the numbers because it affects everything you do every day. On a good day we can get a lot done but on a bad day you'll see me like in your picture, Nancy - lying around on a couch or in my favorite recliner. Today was one of those days but I trust tomorrow will be better. We were woke up at 4 am with the doorbell ringing frantically; turns out it must have been water in the bell from the storm but it ruined the rest of the night. Being tired always make arthritis pain worse.

The health improvements are GREAT but the MOST visible one is my ability to WALK and move without CONSTANT debilitating pain in my knees and back, and joints. THAT one even trumps those HEALTH numbers that mean so much but that don't ALWAYS show quite as visibly as the PAIN does.

Nancy, that is fantastic! So often we focus on weight loss but improved health is really what it is all about and you are really succeeding there. Congratulations

I have also in the past been able to eliminate meds for high BP, high Cholesterol, asthma, oral diabetes meds, allergy meds, my C-pap machine, and meds for inflammatory bowel disease and am currently at less than 1/4 of my arthritis meds that I was on less than a year ago.

This will also work for oral anti diabetics such as Metformin and as some of you have said it will lower your blood pressure and your resting heart rate.

Great tips Millifred! emoticon . I am so excited, my blood pressure is down, my blood sugars are down and weight finally broke the barrier that I have been at for weeks! Only two pounds but I'll take it!!! Exercise is the key! I had wanted to loose another 12 by Easter. Maybe with this break through I can.

I have reduced and also gotten off my insulin in the past - so far on this leg of my journey (since end of April of last year) I have reduced my insulin 4 times. It can be done.

I was just reading an old post from last August where someone was having to quit taking their insulin because they had reached the cap in their state and no longer qualified for Medcaid! This also happens to people on Medicare when they reach the "donut hole" and can't afford to pay cash for their meds.

One answer that I learned at a Life Style Change center is that if you exercise directly after each meal that exercise can keep your blood sugar from going up. After being on the program for about three days my blood sugar dropped so low before lunch I had to turn off my insulin pump! It may take a while but if you control the amount of carbs you eat and make them as much as possible in the form of whole grains, then exercise for about 15 minutes after your meal you may be able to either decrease your insulin or get rid of it. As you gradually lose weight you will find you no longer need the insulin and it really may only take about 10 pounds to reach that goal. It worked for me and it has worked for many others who went through the program. The exercise can be as simple as a 15 minute wall in the fresh air or the equivalent on a treadmill. Try it!
