The best thing for me has been taking one thing at a time. Trying to do too much all at once but me off my game. I was diagnosed last November and have lost 20 lbs. I hit a plateau and am looking to get back on track and make it work. Would love to have an accountability partner if you are willing?

I rejoined Spark People in June=but instead of losing weight-I actually gained about 8 lbs. It was very disappointing. We were doing several projects around the house so fast food was the easiest way to go for eating-which of course is a bad thing. I am a teacher and one the heaviest in my dept. I was diagnosed with type II diabetes and really need to lose the weight. Guess I'm just looking for support and ideas to stay on track. I am very heavy and exercise time is difficult. Thanks for listening

Welcome Robyn. Congratulations on losing 25 pounds. I, like you, quit smoking almost 12 years ago. I vowed not to be a statistic and gain weight once I quit. I did good for 6 months because I was paying attention. By then, I thought I was past the hump and had it figured out, so I stopped thinking about it. Then, w/o realizing it, I gained 80 pounds. I've lost 20, but boy is it coming off slowly. I won't give up, though, no matter how long it takes. SP is great, and there are a lot of great people here. Everyone has been through similar experiences. There's lots of support, no chastising.
Good luck with your journey!

Robyn, if I am understanding your message, you quit doing one of the hardest things which is smoking. And you are fighting diabetes and showing strong signs of success there also. Wow! You are on your way. Do keep us posted about your progress.
