Glad to know about freggies. And the tip about my husband paying me to lose weight. That has merit, and could amount to a nice shopping trip, depending upon my negotiating skills......

I wondered the same thing! A freggie is just a fruit or vegetable--best to have 5 a day total. Bat those lashes! Teehee--his pocket change will mount up!

Love the nest egg challenge -- what a nice way to reward ourselves for meeting our goals.

Lack of sleep really resonates with me. During the work week I go to bed at 10:30 and get up at 5:00 (or earlier). I have also been worried about work and our heat pump this week which hasn't helped with my sleeping.

Thank you everyone for your suggestions and encouragement. And I will work on my spark page this weekend.

Happy Independence Day! Hope everyone has a fun and healthy day!

Some mighty interesting chats going on here. Just goes to show what I miss when I leave town for a couple of days. I really like the nest egg challenge and tying it to the personal goals we set. Did something like this some 30 years ago, and found that incentives really work. Add accountability and helping others to the mix and it is dynamite for change.

Thanks, Judsterf! But I can't take credit--it's an idea from our leaders in the over 100lbs group

Just watched a Spark Coach video and it tied in with discouraging results. It said recent research has found that less than 7 hrs of sleep can block weight loss. So, toss that in the mix and perhaps then a solution will be closer

Try not to let discouragement derail you - sometimes our bodies don't respond to all our best efforts. Check out my page or my blogs I often talk about my challenges with that very thing.

With love and caring from Nancy ... wishing all of you a wonderful, blessed, and precious day.

I feel for you, Kagree--that would certainly feel discouraging. Of course, could be water or any number of things. Even though you know that, it's hard not to feel down. But don't. Fight it. You are on track and should keep it up! I heard something great this morning--at 211 degrees, water is just hot. At 212, it boils--a huge difference! But a difference from a very small increment.

On the Big Girls Team (umm, the over 100 lbs weight loss team), we have a fun "Nest Egg" challenge going on. It involves freggies, exercise, sleep, poundage, etc. You make a box, either taped shut with a money slot, or you avert your eyes when opening it. Every day, you deposit change--10 cents for each freggie and day of tracking, a quarter for 30 mins exercise, a dollar for each pound lost in a week. You could adapt this for our goals--maybe a dime for every meal that stays within the SparkPages nutritional budget, 10 cents for every glucose test, other amounts for exercising, lost poundage, whatever. End of month, you realize progress towards better health is far more than pounds--and it's time to buy yourself something fun!

Keeping it fun helps buoy up the discouragement. Do you feel any better since buckling down? Remember muscles weigh more than fat, too. Hang in there!!!!

KAGREE00 - Venting is permitted on these teams!!!

1) Have you been measuring and weighing your foods or just eye-balling them. Be sure to measure and/or weigh all foods, especially in the beginning and then later on you may try eye-balling them but still weight and/or measure your food periodically just to make sure you aren't "overdoing" some of the servings - it's easy to do!!

2) Are you eating your 2-3 snacks a day? These snacks will help to keep your BSs more even as well as to keep your metabolism working overtime. Also, by eating your BSs, you will have more energy and keep your BSs from crashing.. You may eat your snacks as late as you need/want to as long as it is within your calorie range and in the same 24-hour period.

3) Are you drinking your water?

4) Are you getting your 8 hours of sleep each night. Your body needs this time to rejuvenate itself thus giving you more energy and which helps you to lose weight.

5) How is your salt content? Keep track of it on your nutrition tracker. If it's not listed, you may add the sodium to your tracker.

6) NEVER go just according to the scale - - it's not always accurate LOL. Instead, go according to how your clothes are fitting, how much more energy you have, and how much healthier you are feeling.

Also, I noticed that you have not created your Spark Page. I would advise you to do so as this will allow people to go on your Spark Page and send you Spark Goodies to help encourage you along your journey. You can do this by going to My Trackers (Click),, go down to My Spark Points (click) go down again to where you will see One Time Challenges and then just 2-3 lines down you will see a topic called Create Spark Page - click on there and follow the instructions. It's not anything difficult.

Also, don't try to make too many changes all at once. This isn't a race but a life-changing way of living. You go at your own speed.. Set small goals for yourself; something that you know you can achieve successfully.

emoticon and together emoticon . You ARE NOT in this journey alone. We are here to help you in any way we can and we are a great team for encouraging one another through the journey. Hang in there!! emoticon

I'm so discouraged. My usual weigh-in day is Monday. But, I decided to weigh in this morning and I had gained 3 pounds since Monday. I know better than to let the scale get me down. I feel like I have been trying to eat right, work out, test my blood, and track everything. I hope that this is just a temporary blip in the screen. But, it is really frustrating when my body is responding to my efforts.

Sorry for the whine ... I just needed a place to vent.
