Back, after a very humbling RFL experience. Walked 13.6 miles, dodged several storms mixed with very hot and humid weather. Walking around that track at night looking at a sea of 3000 softly glowing luminaries is powerful stuff. Can't say my diet was the best but sure wore it off with the walking. A good tired today.

Well, team mates, am off to get our church team set up for Relay For Life tomorrow. Traditionally that is quite a few miles around that track. Will see what the pedometer has to tell me. Am truly proud of the presence our RFL team has in this community.

Yeah, it was a good reading. My problem is that I get too lazy about monitoring regularly. What I preach to others is not what I faithfully do for myself sometimes. Grrrrrrrr........

I think the exercise did help today's blood sugar was 134 at 7am. Not as bad as I thought it would be. I still want to get it better but am very happy I'm staying under 150. Next goal will be getting it under the 130.

I made the mistake yesterday of having a small 2 bite size cake at lunch and breaded shrimp at supper. I ate too much shrimp...won't do that again.... I think my sugar is up some this morning. I'm not taking it early though maybe the exercise I just did will help

Looks like the blood sugar levels are coming down. Take care and be aware of low blood sugars symptoms. Not suggesting you will have them, but this was a battle for me when I dropped very quickly. So I kept a fruit blend granola bar in my purse and some hard candy. Just in case. After all this time it does not happen often, but occasionally a reading into the 80s will make me dizzy, shaky, and give me prickles on my scalp. Gotta remember that original readings were in the mid 300s and I learned pretty quickly to eat those snacks between meals. Big difference these days. Thankfully.

Thanks everyone for your support and advice.
Today my sugar this morning was 132 and this eve 113
I'm amazed at how it was this eve because we ate out at Golden Corral.
I filled up on yummy raw veggies on my salad, broiled fish and non starch veggies.
I did have 2 diabetic cookies for desert.
My calorie total for today was in the 1400 (after having a snack of peanut butter and crackers)
We'll see what my sugar is in the morning

Yep, the keeping in range is a balancing act. No matter how long I have been a part of SP, I struggle with too much fat and not enough protein in my diet. Even though there has been significant progress, not enough. And I know I can do better.

Getting enough calories is not a typical problem but getting them IN BALANCE sometimes is for me. I find that nuts are both high in nutrients and ALSO high in calories (they are really good for you but watch portion sizes). Peanut butter and crackers, whole grain breads, or even just a spoonful, fruits, protein and/or fiber bars, cheese, a couple of slices of cold cuts, or some fruit are all options I would use since they are generally healthy, and are not terribly high in carbs..

JEANUT - - Have a piece of fruit and some cheese, some nuts, cottage cheese and fruit, popcorn (air-popped is best), Wasa bread and reduced fat peanut butter with raising, celery and raisins. Hope some of these will help along with your mik and crackers.

Just my opinion, but the times I am under range isn't worrisome to me unless it were to be an ongoing occurrence. If you see a pattern building, are not feeling well, or blood sugar levels are experiencing major swings, you are probably ok. If you need to add calories, you can think about what is a heathy snack for yourself. Have you taken a look at the diabetic recommendations for meals and snacks? Keep us posted.

I had trouble with my diet today, not that I went over on my carbs or calorie amount, but that I didn't have all the calories the Dr wanted me to have. He put me on an 1800 cal diet and today I was full with way less. I did get a snack with milk and 2 crackers, but still only reached in the 1300 calorie range. Any advice on days you fill up fast?
