Just heard the lullaby they play over the PA system whenever a baby is born. Could it be for Hailey?

I gotta be careful walking after meals. Get nauseous if I don't wait a bit, about 30 minutes in my case.

In waiting room, waiting.........grand daughter being born at this very moment.

Research has shown that walking for 15 minutes after each meal controls blood sugar better than a longer walk once a day. It doesn't require hours of exercise to start to help - 15 minutes after a meal really helps.

Walking is good. 10 minute segments is good. Toning exercises is good. Good!

It sounds like a good idea to add the toning workouts to your walking. Do what you can and as you get used to doing them you will probably improve and be able to do a little more.

The lung specialist recommends walking, which I do daily for 10 minutes at a stretch. I've added seated toning workouts this past week and am able to do more.
Thanks everyone for your tips and concern :)

If you run a red light, do you continue to break all the traffic laws that day? Why would blowing your 'diet' be any different? So you made one mistake, get over it and continue doing the right thing for the rest of the day.

Good for you, Marsha, about the food tracker. It take some time to get used to using it. You will get faster as you use it more. Has your doctor made recommendations about exercises you can do?

You will probably keep learning more and more as you go along. I love the trackers and even before changing eating habits, just becoming aware of what you ARE eating is likely to help you make better choices and improve your eating. Keep exploring.

So far so good, day 3 and I'm still here. Learning more each day, still need to make exercise a priority and eye opening how much food I have actually been eating all this time. Gotta love the nutrition tracker!

Explore some options and talk with your doctor, a nutritionist, or a diabetes specialist to discuss further options. Read articles, look at recipes, explore, explore, explore.

I just sent you a message on another discussion thread, but learned here that you have copd and those meds have created the need for insulin. Sounds like you are under a doctor's care. Even so, the fundamentals are the same, I would think. Have you been able to meet with a nutritionist? They can be really helpful. Most of my information has come from this site. The challenge is to not get overwhelmed. Check out a couple of articles or videos when you are online. Use the fitness tracker daily. Write a couple of notes to others. And keep the faith in yourself. You are not alone in this battle.

I've never been good at long term goals so I think I'll break it down into small do-able steps.
This week I want to learn more about proper carb eating, I have been off any insulin for about 10 years but am now taking insulin shots due to meds for my C.O.P.D.
